According to a report in The Sword, Twitter user @rossiferrrr shared a picture of a sign he discovered at an unnamed gym with the caption, “Tell me you work at a gay gym without telling me you work at a gym.” @rossiferrrr later deleted the post from Twitter, but the sign still appears in a post to Reddit. “Attention Members,” the sign announced boldly at the top of the flyer. “Please DO NOT HAVE SEX in the Men’s Locker Room! You can have sex *literally* anywhere else, just not at Crunch Fitness. Otherwise, your membership will be immediately revoked. Please keep this safe space for all Crunchers.” Photo by @rossifer Though the original post didn't identify the gym, online users were quick to determine the gym in question was Crunch Fitness in West Hollywood, and Reddit users wasted no time in finding the humor in the situation. “So this is the only way to stop credit card payments on your gym membership when you told them to stop,” noted one commenter. “Nah they’ll keep charging you,” responded another. Another Redditor wondered whether the sign was just “a clever marketing ploy.” “So just have sex in the women’s locker room,” another commenter helpfully observed. If the patrons had hoped to burn some calories as they were engaged in public locker room sex, recent studies have shown they would have been far more effective if they had hopped on a bike instead (clothing optional, of course). A study from the University of Quebec at Montreal entitled “Energy Expenditure during Sexual Activity in Young Healthy Couples” found men burned only 101 calories on average during a 24-minute round of sex compared to a 30-minute session on an exercise bike which burned 276 calories.
