Everyone’s familiar with the night market that once occupied Patpong 1 but today I  checked out the sprawling day market that runs from Silom rd. at Soi 10 to the road New Twilight bar is on.

Ninety five percent of it is covered space and out of the sun. Cooked food and produce vendors dominate but you’ll also find a large number of clothing vendors (new and vintage) along with shops selling kitchen ware and curiosity items.

X-One Currency exchange shop

Just a block from the day market is a currency exchange shop that today had the best rate in Silom area, buying the USD for 37.90 bht. This was just a hair better than Super Rich offer of 37.85.

X-One currency exchange is on the soi off Surawong rd. a short distance from Sap rd. 

Before the pandemics there was a sunday morning market every second sunday directly in Silom road with food and art. Does anybody know it is back?

There’s on-going construction work on both side of Silom (including center strip at some points) as part of project to bury overhead wiring and new tree planting.

Both places I patronize regularly and there are rumors I may be there today morning

The mid-day market is there since many, many yrs and aims the office workers-see the many hi-rise banks there. Of course these precious hi-so need to be protected from burning sunshone

That sun-PM was a one off and was held at various periods in various areas of what the dear BMA reigns over (the city council)-it was usually only decided at very late stage. That stuff can be found as such in 100s of BKK-markets. Mostly named as ´walking street´.

There used to be an evening market around the canals close by Sanam Luang-incl several stands with naughty stuff-think robber-copy-copy DVD and ´toys´ with a purpose. But that was deemed to make too much traffic jam and moved to outer suburbia-no idea if that still goes on.
