This is the way to get across the street in Vietnam. However, it only really works with the motorbikes. If there are cars and trucks in the mix, then it gets far more complicated. They can’t maneuver around you so easily, but they also don’t stop either.

One of my "seasonal" farang friends is back in Jomtien from Europe so I used that opportunity for us to go and eat at Guido's new Pratamnak branch restaurant last night.

The restaurant is beautiful, especially the outside area which includes a waterfall, mini decorative pool, tropical landscaping and wonderful lighting. It was lightly raining and we still preferred to sit outside as it more magical outside than the indoor airconditioned area.


The menu seems to be the same as the Bangkok Silom soi 4 branch. The food was delicious as is always the case at G's.


As the portions are quite large there was no room for dessert.
Unfortunately, Guido was not there last night as he was still in Bangkok.
After our big meal we should have made the 20 minute walk along Dongtan beach back to Supertown in the Jomtien Complex (as the rain had already stopped) but we were bad boys, as we were too eager to see what kind of trouble we could get into at one of the pillow bars, as they have added some new guys to the crew....👹🍆💦😜

I always drop into 7/11 in Silom every night to get my morning coffee, condoms and lube and a dessert.
If I'm heading back to the hotel with a 'friend' I usually tell him he can go and pick up anything he wants. Usually it's a drink, hair products, toothpaste etc. To their credit, no guy has every gone overboard with their purchases and taken advantage of my offer.
In Japan you can eat like a king at any of the numerous convenience stores.
Each chain has its own speciality for which it is famous. For example,, 7/11 has its 'tamago sando' - egg sandwich (YUM!!!!), Family Mart it's 'famichiki' - deep fried boneless chicken cutlet, Yamazaki it's baked goods....
The Western-style dessert choice is endless. It's where I head to first. Lots of crème caramel, crème brûlée, tiramisu, soft buns filled with cream....
All the stores sell 'onigiri' - rice balls with different fillings (although they are actually triangular!) For years I struggled to open them, knowing that there must be a proper way of doing it. Afterall, this is Japan I finally decided to read the instructions! They are wrapped in 2 layers to keep the crispy seaweed separate from the rice to prevent it becoming soggy. It's ingenious. Pull down the tab in the middle, pull both sides at the bottom outwards and hey presto! The seaweed magically wraps itself around the rice.
Whenever friends came to visit when I was living there, they were astounded at what they could buy in a convenience store. They would take a basket, wander down all the aisles and just buy up everything and throw if in their suitcases.
'Can we come back again tomorrow?'
Over the years I've noticed the selection of products has really expanded in Thailand 7/11 stores. I love all their spicy snacks. The product I most want to try is some kind of durian product like biscuits or desserts - but I'm still not brave enough. 🤣

Orion Bar in the night market area and Connections Bar in the Chang Klan area.are the main gay bars - generally frequented by tai yai lads some of whom are offable. Friday and Saturday are a little busier but it is low season. Both bars have Facebook pages. An alternative to AA is New Circle Club also on Facebook and located in the same area as AA. A short walk from AA is a small venue frequented by lads which was discussed in the CM forum - always found it lively.
RAM bar cabaret and Sixcret Cabaret both in night bazaar
Woody( and his partner Non) of Classic House massage do tours - a day trip to include Mon Chaem and Mae Komphong are well worth doing - trips into surrounding country side. If going to Mae Khompong a side trip to The Giant is recommended. if Woody and Non are not available they can usually arrange a friend to help.out.
CM coffee and restaurant scene is vibrant - some really outstanding places . My favourite - a little out of town is Cafe Eley
Host bars are popular here generaly coming alive around 11pm.onwards. Multiple lads catering to mixed customers - Sharky Host Bar and Club, BRC karaoke and Bar, Maya Club

Hi everyone,
I am writing to share some sad news. Our fellow member, Lucky, unexpectedly passed away on July 7, 2026, following a brief illness.
On a personal note, Lucky and I were in touch for over two decades. When I hadn't heard from him or seen him post anything lately, I emailed him. When there was no reply, I expected the worst. His sister must have gotten access to his email account because she eventually replied and notified me of his passing. Believe it or not, despite everything he accomplished in his career, he always looked up to me. Keeping in contact with him for 20 years was a true privilege, and I am going to miss our whore stories exchanges.
Many of you might remember Lucky as an occasional contributor to these forums since 2006, chiming in over the years to share his fondness for annual trips to Bangkok or join discussions in The Beer Bar. He truly enjoyed the community and the lifestyle we all share here.
However, the true mark he left on this world was through his deeply distinguished, trailblazing career as an attorney fighting for justice. Long before he was able to freely travel, he served as a high-ranking prosecutor and the Chief of a major District Attorney’s Hate Crimes Unit in California during the 1980s and early 1990s.
What makes his legacy so incredible is that he was an openly gay attorney doing this job during a deeply volatile and hostile era for our community. Working right on the front lines, he pioneered tough, unprecedented prosecutions against homophobic violence and secured landmark felony convictions against those who targeted gay individuals. He famously used his platform to send a clear message to institutions like the military that violence against the LGBTQ+ community would not be tolerated. He was also a fierce advocate for attorney rights, standing up for core legal principles within the state system.
When health concerns forced his early retirement in 1993, he didn't stop living fully. He spent his decades of retirement exploring the world alongside his lifelong love and partner, and caring for his beloved Scottie dogs.
Lucky was a devoted partner, a fierce advocate, a true traveler, and a man who fought hard to make the world a safer place for all of us. He will be deeply missed.

Foodland staff gives good service. Especially for regular customers. Local Thai families come to eat on Sunday morning and afternoon (after eating, they buy groceries from supermarket).
Forum members here have received good service from Foodland staff. Whenever we enter in a big group (with our guys), they will combine tables for us.

There is an unseen heirarchy of working boys (and girls) - a social pyramid of prostitutes, if you like - which those not in the industry may not be aware of which could explain the reluctance of Patpong boys to go to Fake. Those who aren't Thai speakers aren't very high on the totem pole. There's also something about not peeing on another man's turf. They may be more amenable to going if they've got a friend working there. Another exception is if they're exceptionally goodlooking in which case they'd be welcome anywhere.
Note that venues like Fake, Asgard and other host bars are primarily drinking bars and if you don't drink and/or are put off by excessive drinking, you'd feel out of place. I've only been at the invitation of Thai friends and barely lasted an hour at these places as I don't drink and am totally put off by any form of excess, especially alcohol. Seeing youngsters ruining their health like that day in and day out upsets me and drink-driving related fatalities happen almost daily with this lot, in a country where drink-driving related accidents hardly raises eye-brows anymore.
Only yesterday, I saw the funeral of a karaoke hostess in Chiang Mai on social media. She was driving home drunk at 6 in the morning, had fallen asleep at the wheel, crashed into a lamppost and died on the spot. She was a single mum and it totally broke my heart seeing her 12-year-old son leading the cortege to the crematorium. He had specially ordained as a monk for the occasion.
For some of these venues, inviting a host to your table and buying him drinks is compulsory and at Asgard and Fake the minimum number of drinks that you need to buy a host depends on his popularity. Most of the stars will expect a 100-drink minimum on any given night, which will allow a customer to "mao" (เหมา) or "charter" him until closing time. Otherwise he gets back on stage at the end of the hour and is available for bidding by other customers. Boyz Boyz Boyz in Pattaya is unique in that the boys are rotated every 20 minutes! Host drink prices range from 350 to 500 Baht depending on the venue, from which the venue takes a 50 to 150 Baht cut per drink.
If you plan to go to Fake to see the shows, bear in mind that is a very large venue reminiscent of an evangelical tabernacle and the best seats are nearest the stage and are usually reserved for VIP customers. It's fine if you're contented sitting in the galleries and watching the shows on the big screen TVs. The majority of Fake's patrons are East Asian. Security is very tight, especially around the stage area as some female customers have been known to go crazy watching the highly erotic performances. Most of the performers are straight but their lead dancer, now 38 but physically very fit, is gay. He goes everywhere in Asia to perform at various clubs but is especially popular in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

I grew up watching football from UK so I can relate to many guys during the recent World Cup.
The Vietnamese are passionate about football. The whole country recently celebrated wildly in streets of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City two weeks ago when Vietnam defeated Thailand to win the bi annual Asean Cup.
I know of some Viet bar guys from Good Boy and Dreamboy who went to stadium in Bangkok when Vietnam played Thailand in the first match. The second match of the final was played in Hanoi.
As much as I enjoy watching sports, I just cannot understand baseball and cricket. I can understand American football but I am not a big follower. I watch Superbowl.
Musicals can be entertaining but expensive.

Welcome to the forum. It does sound like you had an eye opening trip to Bangkok even if there were a few surprises - but these things happen to all of us.

It was great to meet you and what an amazing coincidence that your AirBnB was in the same building as mine.  Of the forum guys that I have given the local tour to - you are the first to stay in VT5.  Most forum members that I have met stay in one of the Supertown hotels; The Venue, Agate, Zing - or in an AirBnB in the nearby VT towers, where View Talay 7 seems to be the most popular.
Our whirlwind tour went as follows:
VT5 and you showed me yours and then I showed you mine, Tinnies for a late afternoon lunch, Walk through Supertown, Bahtbus (songthaew) over to Pattaya City - you rang your first bell, Walking Street tour - we were hunting for USA Navy guys, Walk through Boyztown - it was still rather early - so not much happening, Walk over to Beach Road where we finally saw small groups of USA military guys wearing those SLG navy blue polo shirts, Photo ops of the famous Pattaya City signage (like in Hollywood), Continued the Boyztown perimeter tour; X-Boys Pattaya and Paradise Spa, After agreeing that it was still early for Boyztown we took the bahtbus back to Supertown in the Jomtien Complex where the Sunee dance troupe show was already in progress, Some of the Sunee performers convinced us to visit our first "pillow bar" for the night, Gus Bar (formerly The Great Bar).  After a few minutes behind the curtain, things became roguish and lusty where you quickly understood why the pillows can be strategically important. Then we did another walk through the entire Jomtien Complex where we ended up at the second "pillow bar", M Bar. We did another walk through Supertown where we ended up at the Candy Bar, where the Booty Call cabaret show was already in progress. We then discussed if we wanted to return back to Boyztown so I could have the privilege to see the look on your face when they place the naked couple on your lap where they will only leave if you put 100 baht in the bottom's mouth at X-Boys Pattaya.  But, as you had been up since 6am with no naps or rest - we called it a night and agreed that I can give you an X-Boys Pattaya tour when you return. Unfortunately I did not get to see that stunning guy because you freaked me out when you started faking a heart attack in an orgasmic way - a thousand thoughts came racing through my mind - Oh my God, here I am on Pattaya's Walking Street with someone from our forum who I hardly know who is having what appeared to be a "medical emergency" - it completely startled me and by the time that you stopped orgasiming and my panic subsided - I had already missed the opportunity to see that hot guy.

Friday September 4 Update...
Good morning from Jomtien.  Thanks to the local legend @bkkmfj2648 I got the whirlwind all in one night tour of both Pattaya City and Jomtien. I took the BTS from Silom to the airport and he virtually navigated me to the $5 busses to Pattaya. Sat next to a cute (but straight) chatty twink from Hong Kong who was going to Pattaya to visit friends. Was lucky to hit no traffic and arrived in Pattaya about 3 hours after leaving Silom. I wasn't the only American in town... 5,000 sailors made me #5,001.  We saw a small sample of the military boys in town, but seems like they stayed far to the north near their ship.

I don't have a bar by bar breakdown because honestly it's all a blur and they run together in my mind.  But my overall thought... I'm glad I made the trip and when I come back from Chiang Mai in October, I think I'll spend a couple more nights here in Jomtien. Pattaya was kind of run down as I anticipated.  But I didn't realize Jomtien would be so different.  The 2 were one and the same in my head before this visit.  Supertown in Jomtien was a much nicer vibe, cleaner and fun.  Now I will have to say we went through Pattaya's Boyz Town at a very early hour before the bars got jumpin'.  I'm just going off the neighborhood walk.
We first grabbed a bite to eat at Tinnie's in Jomtien.  I hesitantly ordered chicken parm.  When a restaurant features several types of cuisine in the US, that's usually not a good sign.  While it wasn't the best chicken parm I've had, I didn't regret the choice.  @bkkmfj2648 gave me the rundown for the night. Next we did something I'd been wanting to do but had no idea how they work... we jumped in the back of one of those pickup trucks where you just hop on and off for 15 baht.  Fortunately he knew the routes and process because I'd have been too chickenshit to try it myself.
When we arrived in Pattaya City I startled him because I was having an orgasm and heart attack at the same time at the sight of what might have been the most beautiful guy I'd seen on this trip so far. He wasn't Asian. Probably American. He had a chiseled face of art, was wearing a loose white shirt and pants... I was just stunned. As for the rest of PC, it was less beautiful.  But I'm glad we checked it out.  Had I not been up at 6am, we might have gone back.  But I was dozing off at the of the bars by 11pm.
When we got back to Jomtien, we caught the boys on the street bars doing their dance routines.  The thing that struck me right away was they actually appeared to be enjoying themselves. They smiled.  They laughed.  They pranked each other on stage.  So many of the guys on stage in Bangkok just evoke pity and sorrow as they stand there motionless waiting to get off'd.  These boys were not sending off the "my life is miserable, save me" vibe.

Now I like younger guys... generally college up to about 28.  Think Ryan Phillippe in Cruel Intentions. That's my sweet spot.  A little muscle is ok. But twink status is my thing.  The boys in Jomtien looked too young for even me lol... I didn't think that was even possible.  Most were about 100 pounds and 5'2.  (Yours truly is well over 6 feet tall.). I was assured these guys were all in their 20s, but man I'd have to have 4 forms of ID if I were to off many of them.

We bounced around from bar to bar all night... from "pillow bars" to cabarets to the street bars.  All had a unique appeal.  I really can't pick a favorite.  There were some really cute massage boys sitting outside their parlors too. I liked the vibe of Supertown.  It's more unified than Silom where I"m staying in Bangkok.  I like that it's one continuous stretch without having to wander a few blocks.  

Besides the guys appearing to be happy, the other most striking thing was the detail in all the shows. The choreography and costumes... it's not usually a big draw for me. I'm visiting places like this to stimulate other senses.  But the effort these guys in all the bars in Supertown put in is really impressive.

I tipped many of the talent... but not as much as @bkkmfj2648.  I think the dude funded a few college educations last night.  I didn't do an off since honestly I wasn't horned up... my Grindr guy back in Bangkok has kept me satiated.  Plus after waking up at 6am (unnecessarily ugh) and the trip from Silom to the airport to Pattaya on the bus, I was going to bed solo.  I snagged a few Line numbers in case any want to have a session this morning, but most gave the impression nothing happens for them before noon. I get it.  I was that age.  But I'm a morning wood kinda guy lol

Heading back to Bangkok today but the Pattaya excursion was definitely worth it.  Pretty sure I'll do a 2-3 day visit when I come back in October.

Chapter 3: You Are Special
Before I went back to sleep, I texted good morning to Vinapu. He expressed interest in checking out my hotel, the Conrad, and said he would be passing by around 11:15 am. I set my alarm, but apparently, he arrived much earlier and was waiting for me in the lobby. I called him at 11:10 am and went down to usher him to the lounge for coffee and catching up. We didn’t have much time to chat yesterday. Afterward, we did a room tour, and then I went back to sleep lol.
Woke up a few hours later and went to Prime for a massage. I had a dinner meeting with an ex-forum member and his BF. When I tried to book my massage, I could only book a 90-minute oil massage so I wouldn't be late for dinner. The good thing was that dinner was at Mango Tree, which is a stone's throw away. I arrived there slightly early, and not long after, the ex-forum member appeared. Vinapu was invited, but he appeared to be nursing his jetlag. Just when we were about to finish our meal, I got a message saying he had just woke up.
So, we made a plan to meet at Midnight Bar before our nightly adventure. I went back to the hotel to freshen up before heading back out to Midnight Bar. We both have the hots for one of the waiters there. I never fail to either buy him a drink and tip him, or just tip him if he is already occupied with a customer. Charming guy, and he always comes over and treats his regulars well. I've never offed him except for that one time for karaoke with jason1975—the first guy I've offed for karaoke only lol. In case you are wondering, yes, we have discussed the possibility, but it hasn't materialized for whatever reason. Vinapu arrived not long after. We agreed to visit Tawan tonight.
Tawan is doing well considering it's a Sunday night and the low season. Plenty of boys, at least a dozen, and I saw 2–3 new faces, some worth a second look. One guy in particular looked like a guy who had just completed his short-term temple stay. He seemed kinda familiar, and much later on, I came across his video lol. If I had seen the video while I was still in Thailand, I would've grabbed him.
We stayed for the show. If Xboy is the most progressive show bar in Pattaya, I dare to say Tawan is the lesser equivalent for a Bangkok show bar. Meanwhile, I finally got to see live how annoying the Tawan guys are when sitting next to our esteemed member in Tawan, and trust me, he did not exaggerate one bit. While I was, for the most part, left alone—except for one guy who sat in front of me—Vinapu was being harassed front, left, and center.
And this is where his famous "I like girls" response backfired. Now the boys (who mostly like girls) sat next to him and opened his phone to show him straight porn lol. I agreed when Vinapu said to me that they were doing a disservice to themselves, driving away a regular customer with that kind of behavior. Before we left, we both tipped the best-looking newbies.
After Tawan, we left for the next bar, Dreamboy. I already had someone in mind, VT from day one. I had promised him I would take him next time, so here I am fulfilling that promise. He was glad to see me; I bought him a drink and asked if he wanted to go with me. We stayed a while for the show before heading back. I asked my guy if he wanted something to eat, and he said yes. I can't recall if it was Foodland or 7-Eleven, but I said my goodbyes to Vinapu, who was not done hunting for the night.
VT left after breakfast. Since this was only my second time with him—and I might add, the first proper night, as the first time I took him was partially spoiled by my own mistake (left my phone in a Bolt taxi)—I tried my best not to doze off for too long lol. After VT left, I continued sleeping until way past 1 pm.

Can't be. The boss I was referring to was a he, not a she. Nor did he have any legal qualification, but a PhD in... something (I've forgtotten what).
Ah, but here's a chance to tell a story: There was one time when we were both on a business trip to Thailand. Unusually, he brought his 18- or 19-year old son with him because there was a free weekend following our business meetings and he thought he and his son could do some bonding before the boy went off to university. I too extended my stay over the weekend, but naturally I had plans totally separate from his, and anyway, I was moving to a hotel in the Silom area.
But then on either Thursday or Friday some crisis blew up back at HQ and my boss felt he needed to fly back immediately. What to do with the boy? Dragging him home and cancelling the weekend would be a huge disappointment. So the father asked me: "Can I entrust my son into your good hands? Take care of him and show him around Bangkok over the weekend."
Oh bugger!  All my plans, my plans!
But how could I say no?
So I didn't say no. The boy moved over to the same hotel as I was -- different rooms, ye with dirty minds! -- and almost the first thing the boy asked me as soon as daddy went off to the airport was, "Can we go to Patpong? I've read so much about it."
