I'm wondering why gay areas in Pattaya don't have many ladyboys working ,unlike the straight areas where I noticed on another straight Pattaya forum they were all complaining the ladyboys are working or mixing in with the girls in the girlie bars !

Don't we as mature aged gay men go for ladyboys ,it seems not xwe aren't their customer base it seems 

If I wanted someone who looks like a female, I'd go to the girlie bars on Walking Street.

Thankfully, I don't.

If they didn’t have enlarged breasts, wigs and high heals, maybe more men would find them attractive. Just a thought.

I'm curious. Is ladyboy a name given to those men who wear outrageous make-up and lipsync in bar shows, or merely a boy who prefers to look like a lady and who may eventually have an operation to change sex? I recall quite a few years ago (perhaps a dozen) going with friends to a bar in Nana Plaza with a stage full of beautiful young girls who just happened to be boys (and most seemed to be in the 18-22 range). We had four over for drinks and they not only spoke some English they seemed extremely well mannered. Even a little hand wandering was not discouraged. None had breasts although we saw a few on stage who seemed to have started developing breasts. We did not take anyone off but felt that as we were tops they might turn out to be little different from twink boys!

Everyone probably has their own conception of a ladyboy but one thing is certain: you know one when you see one.

I believe it would be a mistake to equate ladyboy with twink, the vast majority of whom are straight and not necessarily bottoms.

 

 

The term "ladyboy" has a huge variety of meanings in Thailand, some of which are pejorative. My boyfriend's cousin, who worked in Pattaya, has moved through various representations of the term since I first met him seventeen years ago.

In 2006,  he was an attractive and highly-popular go go boy, a twink, very much a bottom, in Boyztown. As time went on, his demeanour and mode of speech (according to P)  became  more feminine and later included khatoey argot.

As time wore on, he sometimes dressed as a woman, wore female jewelry and  wore his hair as a female.

By about 2018, at least when he met with P and me , he had reverted to masculine dress, perhaps in deference to us (and perhaps the other diners in the restaurant!) though I was told that his speech was still that of a khatoey.

On the last few occasions we met, he was back where he started, dressing as a male, if eccentrically. And now retired from the Pattaya scene in his forties, he's a gay Thai farmer.

P is delighted with this latest transformation.  He felt that his cousin's transition to ladyboy had placed a barrier between them. He's still a handsome guy, I have to admit. And neither P ( who has known him since they were children) nor I can explain any of this, though his relatively successful career on the stage in shows perhaps contributed to his journey.
