Where do you book your hotel for holiday in Bangkok?

Who was belittling anyone?

No need to relax; I am not uptight.

I have used Sawadee.com to book my motels when traveling around Thailand. They seem to have decent quality and good rates, with rooms in out of the way places around Thailand.

Very helpful for those of us afflicted with ADD (Acronym Deciphering Disorder)!

Here the results:

When I booked on 22.06., the 3-for-2 promotion was no longer available! So I booked 5 nights for 119.64 GBP (instead of 6 nights with 3-for-2 for the same price). This makes 1130 B/night. My credit card is charged with 122.99 GBP.

In the reception, 1813 B/night is quoted on the billboard, asking for the price to stay one night longer, I get 1400 B. I ask for discount, receptionist goes to office and returns with offer 1200 B.

However, I decide to go to Pattaya (Howard's guesthouse 500 B/night) and to stay in Om Yim lodge (900 B/night) after returning to Bkk.

AsiaRooms used to be great, but not so much since they revamped their website. Prices and offers are no where near as good as before.

I use Agoda... sometimes to browse and book... sometimes just to browse (and book direct with the hotel).

I'm annoyed by the fact, the prices listed are excluding taxes and charges, which sometimes run up to 20%. You have to click "book now" to get to the next page and find out.

then you should to use booking.com - they show prices in total... but I found if in Thailand direct deal with guesthauses and middle-ranged hotels will bring more adorable prices than any global booking operator can offer to you...

If you just want reasonably priced rooms, then Sawadee.com does a pretty good job. However, if you are wanting a higher class ***** facility, then I would book directly with the hotel chain.

I'll check out booking.com next time.

I always check and see if the hotel can match or beat the Agoda (or whatever booking engine I'm looking at) rate. I prefer to book with the hotel because if there's a problem, which may require a refund or similar, it's much easier to deal direct with the hotel than through a booking agent, which may be difficult to contact and correspond with and less flexible.

Also try http://www.hotelscombined.com/ As the name suggests, it brings together quite a few booking sites on the one page. It's rather like tripadviser, but with more site/cost options. As beachlover wisely advises, always make sure if tax and service charges are included before you finalise the booking.
