I have lived in Hong Kong and Bangkok for more than 20 years each. I have absolutely no idea what the Hong Kong people meant! Charoen Krung is a very long road of 8.6 kilometers.

The only Rop Krung I have heard of is the canal Khlop Rop Krung. I believ this is the old name now given to Klong Ong Ang and Klong Bang Lamphu. Klong Ong Ang is now known as a cultural tourism hub.

There is an area relatively close to both and not far from the Royal Palace. There used to be Thais who were freelancers who would cruise there, but this was very much at your own risk, especially if you are a newcomer, do not know the area and do not speak Thai! And difficult unless you have a car. Not sure if this is still a cruising area but I expect this may be what your Hong Kong friends meant. Personally I would totally avoid that area. Stick to the known gay areas of Silom and Suriwong.

I’d recommend against this. I am not familiar with the area, but I have an ex who is Thai. He was a freelancer as a child in this area. I’m talking under 18. He walked me through his daily routine when we first arrived in Bangkok years ago. Life is not easy for freelancers. They have no protection. And the clients who shop this area are not good people. I don’t know what you’re trying to find, but look elsewhere.

I think that may be a very incorrect comment. Although I only went past that area once in a car, my friend and I definitely saw no underage guys that evening. There were around 12 guys, most looking considerably older than early 20s and none that we would consider even approaching. I know that the poster @ChristianPFC has written about this area some years ago and mentioned it in his blog. Again I do not think underage has ever been mentioned. The concern around there has been drugs and definitely AYOR.

It would seem from his downvote that @Department_Of_Agriculture is either disappointed no underage guys were discovered and/or he is happy with drugs and AYOR cruising. To each his own.

Critising me for calling out someone who was obviously looking for underage guys is just stupid, nor was I "incorrect".

Feel free to post whatever nonsense you want in response but I won't be responding. You obviously have far too much free time on your hands and I have no interest in helping you pass your empty hours while waiting for it all to end.  The last thing any sane person needs is to get into a silly back and forth with someone with far too much time on their hands.

Time on my hands! Ha! I work. The time I spend here is a very small part of my long days. And I have as much right to downvote any post as @Department_Of_Agriculture.

Yes Sanam luang and near the park, way to flower market as well (where is the canal) .. live in wisutcasat for many years and took my dog for a walk. This was 18 years ago.

Dangerous area, google and you will find articles with this issue.

Yes, now it's mostly mature men 🤣. In the past, there were some issues involving underage individuals in that area, so the police increased surveillance and patrols. As a result, even college-aged guys have moved away.
