Just for information, as many readers are aware I post unattributed photos of nude guys in the photo thread. In purely legal terms, pornography on the internet is banned in Thailand. Yet the vast majority of my pics are non-pronographic. Yet the sites keep being banned. The latest one that I have been using I discovered has been banned from today.

According to CTN News on May 11, 22% of sites allegedly showing pronigraphy are banned in the Kingdom.

Totally get the frustration with sites getting blocked. Was browsing some sex việt clips the other night and it made me appreciate how tricky it can be to find content that’s both fun and legal. Ended up just sharing some safe pics with a buddy and we had a laugh over it—kind of makes the bans a bit less annoying when you find little ways to enjoy the stuff you like.

I remember reading some years ago that Thailand is the most censored Asian country after China and Pakistan. In 2011 the government opened a dedicated censorship department covering a variety of issues including a certain family, porn and generally anti-government protests. Yet even a year earlier, in 2010 under the Internal Security Act 74,686 sites had been blocked. Although I can find no figures, I assume the number of blocked porn sites just continues to grow.

For those who might not have noticed, international television news like the BBC and CNN is subject to a 5-minute delay. This is to allow censors to pick up and block anything to do wtih - well, we all know what and who.

The official reason for so many porn sites being banned, despite increasing protests, is always that they undermine Thailand's traditional cultural and social values. Typical government b/s.

Vietnam is a rather appropriate analogy, barely noticed until suddenly it was front page news. A start unknown to almost all during the Eisenhower years, continued almost unobtrusively by Kennedy before being brazenly and illegally augmented by Johnson and again by Nixon. Thai censorship may not be illegal - but much of what is censored in Thailand should not be. It's a sort of fantasy. We start small and so what we censor does not exist. But as we increase censorship, the wider Thai community begins to notice and trouble starts. But the powers-that-be continue to pretend they are doing good.

Proton VPN is not expensive. It lets me enjoys all sorts of things that certain countries would rather I did not see.

It also lets me in to pirate bay (using TOR browser and qbit torrent) so I can download YIFY movies for my tv set. 

I paid for a year, it covers several devices, in my case two laptops two phones all with the same log in. 

It's also handy to have when there is only public wifi available. 

I don't use it for all my web acitivity but when I'm blocked or doing something sensitive it's well worth having. 

I had to change my DNS settings to access some blocked stuff before—using a public DNS usually works for me. Worth a shot if it's being silently filtered.

I ran into something similar and thought it was just my browser at first. Some places block stuff super randomly lately. If you’re after uncensored stuff and not getting anywhere with other sites, check it out — it still works fine for me and loads pretty fast without needing workarounds.
