I was at my dad's house today, he's a rabid Trumper, and he was enjoying Neil Diamond's "America". Lots of very patriotic lyrics, but I don't think he realized the song was about immigrants "coming to America".

 

Ya think?   I'm obviously in the latter camp.   Happily, thanks to Trump's cruelty, a record 79 % of Americans say that immigration is good for America.  And a record 78 % want to give immigrants living in the US illegally a chance to become citizens.

 

In case anyone else is curious, that is Laurence Olivier (not Jewish in real life) and Lucie Arnaz in the audience.  It's from the 1980 film The Jazz Singer.

I was going to add this to my comment above, since the video clearly has a Jewish subtext.  America today is not the America of 1980.  And Israel is not the Israel of 1980.  Kudos to Jewish Bernie Sanders and Jewish Jon Ossoff  - but not Chuck Schumer - for voting against arming Israel in its genocide.  Which is a word Israeli human rights groups are now using to decry the Genocide Jew's ethnic cleansing.
