Philadelphia Trip Report

I don’t know why we don’t have a USA forum, but since we don’t, I’ll just post this here.

I’ve been in Philly for a month. I am from just across the river in South Jersey and I lived here in the 80s. Came out in 1977 and the streets were filled with sex. When I lived here in the 80s, pre-AIDS, sex was also everywhere, but once AIDS hit, things calmed down somewhat, though there were still many public places to have sex along with bookstores, bath houses, arcades, etc.

Now, things have change. There are still a few parks and public places, a few bath houses and a few arcades, but nothing like what it used to be. Apps have taken over.

I am 65 years old, well past my prime, but recently getting back in shape and not bad looking.

This is a rundown of my experience and some tips for visitors.

Apps:

Grindr is a huge scam operation now, but I did make a few contacts. One cute young Latino with a nice dick who hit me up the next day for a repeat. But the scammers are out of control. 

Sniffies seems to be much more popular here than where I live in California. Perhaps because this is a big city and where I live is more suburban. I made many many contacts through Sniffies. The thing I like is you can see where they are. Also, the scammers haven’t taken over like they have Grindr. I’m currently waiting for a bi married guy I had a great time with the other night to tell me when he wants me to go back to his hotel for another round. He found me three weeks ago before he came to Philly on a business trip and told me when he’d be here. I didn’t actually believe he would follow through, but we had the best time and I can’t wait to see him again tonight.

However, Sniffies did have a problem with guys who would contact me, express interest, even go so far as to set up a day and time, and then either ghost me or block me. It happened enough and others told me it happened to them, that I believe it was not just a fluke. Something about the app and the guys here. So it’s something to be aware of.

Jack’d is popular with men of color and those who like them. I also had a few hits there. Met one guy, who was a disappointment. Was contacted by a few others who seemed promising but never came though.

Baths

There are two bathhouses in Center City - I went to Club Philly last Sunday evening. It’s half off on Sundays after 4 (also during the week at lunch time) - you have to get a membership (daily membership is $10) and then room or locker is extra. For a room last Sunday it was $30.

The crowd was sparse, and tended towards older, but I played with a few hot older guys. Club Philly is several floors with quite a few play areas. It seems to get very busy on the weekend with a line out the door waiting to get in. As has been my experience around the world, the front desk staff is not friendly at all. But don’t let them deter you. It is worth a visit.

I did make contact with a few on Grindr and Sniffies but never followed through. I thought I had an agreement with one guy and then he never got back to me. His loss, since I was willing to pay. He was asking $100 for me to suck him. He had a beautiful body and cock.

I didn’t bother to check the official escort pages because I knew they were out of my range. I think there are quite a few guys available for hire if you can figure out how to do that. I had a bad experience here a few years ago, so I have been more cautious about who I invite to my place (I’m in an Airbnb where I am not supposed to have guests).

I have been very sexually active while here, and while not all were people I’d want to see again, it has been fun to feel desirable at my age. My married friend told me I was the best sex he ever had with a man.

So,if you are looking for a US city to visit and if sex is one of the things you would hope to find, I’d say put Philly on your list. There are also many other wonderful things about the city - great architecture, theater, arts, museums, parks, and restaurants galore. Lots of neighborhoods to explore beyond Center City. I may be biased but it is up there on my top five list of favorite cities in the world. I also love the people. Friendly, but blunt and direct. I always know where I stand with Philadelphians (unlike people in California, who confuse the hell out of me).

If you come, avoid the heat of summer (or dead of winter) - late August/early September has been very nice, a few hot days, but mostly pleasant. Lots of hot young college boys running around in short shorts and/or shirtless, so there is always eye candy.

Definitely put Philadelphia on your list.
