12is12 Posted Friday at 09:56 PM Posted Friday at 09:56 PM Has anyone ever attended and can offer guidance? Where when how would b best 2 secure a good viewing place 2 sit? Do beach hotels offer balcony/roof viewing seats? Expensive? Does it really last 4 hours each night? Thx (-: Quote
PeterRS Posted Saturday at 03:23 AM Posted Saturday at 03:23 AM I agree that all firework displays are fun, but is the one in Pattaya really a major fireworks event? Every year Hong Kong has 20 minutes of the most amazing - and no doubt the most expensive costing an average of US$2.67 million - firework displays you have ever seen at the lunar New Year. I think I am right in saying Pattaya's budget is about one tenth of that. Macao also has some fantastic displays at its annual Fireworks Festival spread over various weekends around the mid-Autumn Festival. Mind you, I'd love to be in Sydney to see their annual New Year's Day pyrotechnics. They may not be the most expensive in the world, but they are certainly amongst the most spectacular. Quote
Londoner Posted Saturday at 06:25 AM Posted Saturday at 06:25 AM The Pattaya event is much better than any we have in the UK. We've watched on one occasion from the steps outside Central, though it was a struggle due to the number of spectators. Beach Road was packed and closed to traffic. On another occasion, we were staying at Ambiance and found that we could obtain a distant view from the walkway on the fourth floor. Not very comfortable though! The corner standing area only accommodated us two. Not recommended. Last year we wanted to travel from Jomtien but transport- we'd left it late- was non-existent. My advice would be to arrive in the late afternoon or very early evening and you'll find a decent place in the Central Mall area. Then wait. if you are staying in Jomtien and want a ride back....chok dee! Quote

I will watch from the sidewalk/ or beach and find myself a stack of speakers which are spread out along the beach. You will not miss a thing. For sitting, you can check Melia hotel roof, and they also have a beach club with a roof. Prices I don't know. 5 hours ago, PeterRS said: I agree that all firework displays are fun, but is the one in Pattaya really a major fireworks event? Yes, it's surely a major event. It is actually a competition between nations. This year is between Germany, Japan, Philippines and of course Thailand. 2 shows per night. PeterRS 1 Quote

So I also saw your post and the problems of travelling into Pattaya those evenings. So people should take that into consideration. I assume that travelling with a motorbike taxi would still be an option? I'm staying at the Grand Avenue again, just like last time so it is a short walk for me. Like last time, I'll probably have a drink after the show on a terrace in Boystown. Anyone who wants to come and say hi is welcome. Just send me a Dm. This is the link to the older thread: Quote
gerefan Posted Saturday at 02:10 PM Posted Saturday at 02:10 PM I went last year and probably won’t go again. We had seats on the beach which was crowded and deafening with LOUD music near us. The public toilets were crowded and also increased in price at 20 baht a go….also a long way away. Yes the firework show was scheduled for 4 hours. However, it was in short shows with 45 minutes between some…and nothing to see during the long gaps. iendo 1 Quote
