Expat Getting Health Insurance in Thailand

Recommended Posts

If you are asking about obtaining annual health insurance that would cover your hypertension, it might be helpful if you gave more details, eg have you already tried local insurance companies and on what basis were you refused? It is not unusual to obtain Health Insurance that cover specific pre-existing conditions, although the premium will  be higher.

As @khaolakguy says, if your HT is an existing and pre-declared condition  then expect over inflated Premiums.

Did use Tune Insurance originally when I first came out here, as needed to show proof of insurance as part of my Visa application. Now on a 5 year, no longer a requirement, so do what a lot of us aged old farts do, and self insurance.

Having said that, I do take flight insurance with Thai Airlines (Allianz) when travelling out of Thailand, as there isn't a medical declaration requirement.

Have you got a GP or specialist that you regularly go to in Thailand? It might be a good idea to ask them as I've seen medical insurance brochures at clinic counters.

I was quoted $8500 per year for insurance in Thailand but I was thinking NOT to have insurance and just go to the hospital and paying for my labs and dr visits Rxs.  I am not in Thailand now I am moving there in April

Does that cover all events, including pre existing  conditions?
