Not so fast Sis, the SCOTUS has a lot on their plate now from all Trumps "shennanigans", so I believe they are "choosing their battles", and I dont believe the issue of SSM is off the table, just "postponed a bit, albeit Miss Kimmys appeal is DEAD, as you say..... The gay and trans culture wars didnt play well in local elections....You hear me Miss Winsome ? So Scotus taking a break from this issue at this time seems WISE. But I am certain we will see it resurface with the GOP as we draw closer to mid terms, because you know, those GOPs just never learn ! Anyway, for now, the GAY family survives..... 👍 RockyRoadTravel and stevenkesslar 1 1 Quote
Members Pete1111 Posted Tuesday at 02:30 AM Members Posted Tuesday at 02:30 AM Was Sister Conehead too much for the justices to suffer, yes, even for the Gavel Gang at our corrupt Supreme Court? Perhaps the MAGA playbook doesn't call for killing marriage equality right now. Indeed, let's keep our eyes open for another attempt. 🌈 stevenkesslar and RockyRoadTravel 2 Quote

What song will go viral after the Incompetent-in-Chief passes away? A digression from this thread I realize. "A Six Dressed up as a Nine"? It's nicely Canadian. stevenkesslar 1 Quote

Happy Days Are Here Again [Intro] So long, sad times Go 'long, bad times We are rid of you at last Howdy, gay times Cloudy gray times You are now a thing of the past [Verse 1] Happy days are here again The skies above are clear again So let's sing a song of cheer again Happy days are here again [Verse 2] Altogether shout it now There's no one who can doubt it now So let's tell the world about it now Happy days are here again [Bridge] Your cares and troubles are gone There'll be no more from now on From now on [Verse 1] Happy days are here again The skies above are clear again So let's sing a song of cheer again Happy times, happy nights Happy days are here again! stevenkesslar and RockyRoadTravel 2 Quote

In fairness, my full on MAGA niece, who loves Broadway, might make a different selection. [TUPTIM, spoken] The King is pleased! (sung) He is pleased with me! My Lord and Master Declares he's pleased with me— What does he mean? What does he know of me This lord and master? When he has looked at me what has he seen? Something young Soft and slim Painted cheek Tap'ring limb Smiling lips All for him Eyes that shine Just for him— So he thinks Just for him! Though the man may be My Lord and Master Though he may study me As hard as he can The smile beneath my smile He'll never see He'll never know, I love another man He'll never know, I love another man The poor piece of shit. Probably nobody ever loved him, and never will. Certainly not Melania. Quote

While most Americans probably don't understand the reality of trans people as of this time, the overwhelming majority of Americans understand the reality of same-sex marriage at this point: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_opinion_of_same-sex_marriage_in_the_United_States "...A 2023 New York Times/Siena poll found that 70% of Americans support same-sex marriage and 22% oppose it. Younger generations report higher approval; in the 2022 General Social Survey, almost 80% of 18–34 year olds either agreed or strongly agreed that same-sex couples should have the right to marry. Garretson (2018) writes: "The transformation of America's response to homosexuality has been — and continues to be — one of the most rapid and sustained shifts in mass attitudes since the start of public polling...". Degree of public support for same-sex marriage by state in 2024:[1] 80–81% 70–79% 60–69% 50–59% Had the SCOTUS reversed its previous ruling, I think this would have further inflamed the bulk of the American public against the GOP. Yes, I suspect Thomas and Alito probably would have like to reverse the ruling. However, the other three conservative justices probably saw the wisdom in not shaking the hornets' nest. While there were few significant elections in this last round, most voters have shown significant displeasure at the far-right swing from the 2024 elections. It will probably take another decade, maybe two, for Americans to understand trans people. Trans people in the public eye will probably be important drivers for public understanding. stevenkesslar 1 Quote

To me it's just the latest instance of needing to say "release the names". The secret benefactors and the obscene dark money politic that the extremists on the Supreme Court unleashed on the American public with their "Citizens' United (for Corruption)" decision. The secret benefactors the Incompetent-in-Chief has used to fund all his vanity projects. stevenkesslar 1 Quote
