Justices decline case seeking to overturn landmark same-sex marriage ruling

The high court turned down a petition from Kim Davis, a former county clerk in Kentucky who objected on religious grounds to issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

 

This is great news.   Except for poor Kim, the bitch.

Not so fast Sis,  the SCOTUS has a lot on their plate now from all Trumps "shennanigans",  so I believe they are "choosing their battles",  and I dont believe the issue of SSM is off the table,  just "postponed a bit,  albeit Miss Kimmys appeal is DEAD, as you say.....

The gay and trans culture wars didnt play well in local elections....You hear me Miss Winsome ?     So Scotus taking a break from this issue at this time seems WISE.   But I am certain we will see it resurface with the GOP as we draw closer to mid terms,  because you know, those GOPs just never learn !  

Anyway, for now, the GAY family survives..... 👍

This just came to mind.  In Britain after Thatcher passed away, Ding Dong the Witch is Dead, rocketed to Number 1 on the Billboard charts.  What song will go viral after the Incompetent-in-Chief passes away?  A digression from this thread I realize.  "A Six Dressed up as a Nine"?  It's nicely Canadian.

While most Americans probably don't understand the reality of trans people as of this time, the overwhelming majority of Americans understand the reality of same-sex marriage at this point:

Had the SCOTUS reversed its previous ruling, I think this would have further inflamed the bulk of the American public against the GOP. Yes, I suspect Thomas and Alito probably would have like to reverse the ruling. However, the other three conservative justices probably saw the wisdom in not shaking the hornets' nest.

While there were few significant elections in this last round, most voters have shown significant displeasure at the far-right swing from the 2024 elections. It will probably take another decade, maybe two, for Americans to understand trans people. Trans people in the public eye will probably be important drivers for public understanding.
