Cruisin for a bruisin

I’ve read a lot of post in the Brazil forum. However, I don’t see a lot of talk about cruising. I’m aware it can be dangerous in Rio, but has anyone had luck cruising there?

I suppose young folks do some street cruising like from '50s and '60s Hollywood movies, but I have never seen any street scenes like in LA of SF here. Just the standing outside of a gay bar flirting, no car involved. My best guess is that it is not really something that would likely work if you are older or non-fluent in PT. Also, the scene in front of Corujina ended years ago. So, perhaps best to stick to cruising clubs in centro or lapa mostly or Sexy Rose in cinelandia. Good luck.

Years ago some board members did a lot of movie theaters, parks, and video arcades. I only ever cruised República Park in São Paulo. Nighttime can be dangerous, but I did have a couple of regulars back then.... $50 brl good memories, and photos 😉

These days, with how easy saunas are, it’s just not worth it for me. I’m even cautious with apps in Brazil. Add my “nothing after midnight” rule,  pretty much leaves saunas and regulars only, and less risk of drama or any other problems....

Floridarob makes some good points. Unlike Kobenhavn where police patrolled the parks at night to keep them safe for gays and drug users eons ago, I know of no other place where this degree of safety might exist today. Mind you, I would guess that parks in Germany or the UK should still be safe at night but this would require confirmation from someone with current knowledge. Athens has a park just north of the famous national archeological museum which is safe during the day and the boys will know where to play. Others play at night elsewhere, but I have never done so, especially as I like to play before sunset. I would never ever play in a park in Istanbul - too many stories of robbery at knifepoint. My guess is that this happened to 2 folks 30 years ago and the stories never stopped, but still..... I know of no such places to play in South America. Via the hook up aps I have met folks in public late at night. Seemed safe for all concerned. In Brazil you can go to a love motel, like Alameda across from 117 to play. Again, as safe for all as is  possible.

Not exactly, but Brasileiros are perpetually horny... so stay in cruising mode. Always scan the situation, stay friendly, (if potential) crank it up to flirtatious, throw in a quick groin glance, adjust your crotch, add some casual touch (and more/longer if they reciprocate)... and you'll be surprised what can happen from time to time. 

At the rooftop pool at the Hotel Atlântico Copacabana a decade ago, by being insufficiently alert, I almost missed a handsome horny bi young dad whose kids were being watched by mom while he was looking to play and I was the only prospect around. 

Highlights of my first visit to Salvador were a taxi driver (who just kept the meter running to double his pleasure) and a hot guest from the interior who was staying at my hotel. Surveillance/cruising mode was key.
