Is South Korea a good place to visit for gays?

Featured Replies

Based on the inactivity on this forum, I get the impression that South Korea doesn't have many options for gay foreigners. Are there any gay saunas, bars, and cruisy areas where foreigners can have fun? I was in Seoul in 2008 and found good saunas, but they seem to be no longer available.

Sure there are many places for gays in Seoul, and inactivity on certain subjects in this forum does not imply inactivity of the place itself. Since homosexuality is not as accepted socially in South Korea as in Taiwan for example it is more discreet.

The Thailand forum here is mostly silent on the White Party, Songkran circuits and bear parties etc. without that implying that these are not options for gay foreigners, rather it reflects the lack of interest of those subjects of the regular posters on the forum.

Gay Korea is mostly clustered around Itaewon, but you can also find a few options in Gangnam.
