First Day in Cairo - land of disappearing penises

I arrived in Cairo last night after a long but pleasant flight (Qatar Air business from SFO - 10 stars). I knew I could not host, but thought there might be a chance that I’d meet a few nice guys who might show me around, so I changed my Grindr profile to mostly non-sexual saying I was looking to meet locals for conversation and to see some interesting places in Cairo. I know it’s a long shot because most closeted guys are very wary about being seen in public with older foreigners, but I also wanted to avoid what actually happened. No lie, I must have received over 200 messages between last night and tonight and most of them were expiring dick pics, some accompanied by faces and bodies. I tried changing my profile to be more explicit (no expiring photos) but that didn’t stop them. Finally, I changed my user name. Could be that everyone who was going to contact me has, or that fixed it. At least it’s not the constant barrage of expiring pics.

It is frustrating because a lot of the guys are guys I would love to meet. The body types and dicks are exactly my type, but since I can’t host and they can’t, my options are limited. There is a guy who lives nearby in Giza who can host who I might take a chance with, but honestly, I am feeling overwhelemed by all of it - the flood of messages, and also Cairo itself. I decided I’m going to take it slow and see who is still around and interested after a few more days.

I rented an Airbnb for a month and they were very clear that no visitors are allowed. There’s a security guard in the lobby. Because I am in Zemalek but want to explore downtown Cairo a bit, I used miles to book a nice hotel for a few nights there. I doubt I’ll be able to have visitors, but am hoping maybe another hotel guest will be interested.

I will also see if I can find a hammam where I might get a little extra service. I had a massage at the Marriott today but it was strictly professional (and very good). I was able to request a male therapist, which was nice.

I came with low expectations in terms of sexual activity, so I will be fine leaving without hooking up with anyone, but I was not prepared for the flood on Grindr. I’ve also been contacted on Romeo and Blowers.
