Virus rages in migrant worker dorms

Recommended Posts

Channel News Asia reports that of Singapore's 4,427 cases, more than 2,600 can be traced to migrant worker dormitories. A record of 942 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Singapore as of noon on Saturday, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a media release. The "vast majority" of these are work permit holders living in foreign worker dormitories, it said. Of the new cases, 14 are Singaporeans and permanent residents, as the ministry noted that the number of local cases continues to decline.

All but 14 of 799 new cases are migrant workers

From Channel News Asia

SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 799 new COVID-19 cases as of 12pm on Monday (Apr 27), taking the national tally to 14,423.

The vast majority of the new cases are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its preliminary release of figures.

Fourteen cases are Singaporeans or permanent residents.

Singapore is now in a "circuit breaker" period to stem the spread of COVID-19. The circuit breaker was scheduled to end on May 4 but has been extended until Jun 1.
