Hotels Rede Atlantico - Guest policy?

Hi guys, on my next travel to Rio i will be booking a different hotel from the last one (if i don't decide to go for airbnb).

I wanna stay near Lapa for 2 reasons...the movida at night, and the proximity to 117 and MM.

I've noticed that there is a hotel in there named "Hotel Atlantico Business" which is part of the Rede Atlantico (the one which owns the Atlantico Copacabana). I've also noticed that they have plenty of hotels in Rio. (check their page: http://www.redeatlantico.com.br/)

Do you know if they all have the same very open guest policy?

Most of the hotels will allow guest and just charge you more for them unless the guest "looks" like he is staying at the hotel...ie, not local Brazilian or a wealthy Brazilian...

Why not check the website for the hotel?

I would really encourage you to give airbnb a try but then maybe centro-ish aren't the nicest neighbourhoods at night. As you probably know Glória metro station is like 2 minutes walk from 117, it's always busy round there at night and that short distance is safe imo.

I mean the fun...Lapa is very fun at night...a lot of young people, samba, drinks....

@KevinC: It was the Royal Regency Palace, in Catete/Flamengo.

Yes, Friday and Saturday nights are supposedly the best nights when it comes to Lapa.  ...went there twice during two different years.  The first was with a very popular escort who had a good day job.  ...have forgotten his name since this was back in the early 2000s.  He rode his motorcycle but hired a taxi for me.  ...joined me in Lapa and walked in the middle of the streets amongst the hordes of folks who'd gathered.  ...quite festive and joyful, indeed.

The second time that I went was with amigos from the States.  I had a so, so time, for I did not get to do what I'd wanted to do, go inside some of the clubs and other venues and go fully with the vibes and flow.  Perhaps on my next visit to my favorite city, my needs and desires will be filled to completion!

I stayed at the "Hotel Atlantico Bussiness" quite a few times some years ago and never had a problem bringing guests back to the hotel for some extra time after the saunas or an overnight... Aways booked the room for two people and never was stopped by the hotel staff on the lobby or asked anything. I just make sure the guy with me is dressed for the place (jeans and shirt on), and that never was a problem as most of the boys from 117 come to work on nice clothes.
