I'm planning to stay in the Ipanema area, in an airbnb, I was wondering if anyone has any general advice about airbnb in Rio or has a particular recommendation? It's quite possible I might invite someone back so a discreet set up would be great. As a first timer and not knowing the language, I dont recommend this....you can do everything you need to do in the saunas.... My type is cute twink bottoms, is Mondo(something) the best place to meet guys like this? Mondo or apps or on the streets....Cute twinks are not the standard in the sauna scene in Brazil...But you would probably LOVE Thailand....Brasileiros tend to be muscular or athletic....especially the guys who work in the saunas....Mundo may be a good option for you to find your type.... Is it worth popping over to Sao Paulo or Porto Allegre for a couple of days or do you think I should just chill and enjoy Rio for my first visit? The major determinant here would be cute twinks, N. European mix would be welcome... If you are seeking N Europeans....go to Europe....Brazilians are a mixed race...there are some more European looking Brazilians all over but unless you speak the language OR are attractive, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN....If you are young and hot or attractive....you will have your pick of guys for free in Brazil because they tend to be very sexual and all over the apps like Grindr These 3 things I can probably find out elsewhere but if you feel inclined : Any recommendations for restaurants in the area, or Rio generally? I enjoy eating out and like high-end cuisine all the way down to great street food. Google restaurants in Brazil or Rio or whatever city you go to....there are TONS of options in Rio...Its a huge city.... How much are clothes there in comparison to Europe or the US? Like a pair of decent shorts for example? Hoping I can pack lightish and just buy whatever. Clothing are expensive compared to the US....But the weather is warm so you dont need winter clothing.... Are there clubs playing techno or house there? Depends on the club.....Use google... Cheers for any replies, I will post some kind of report, and if anyone is in town and wants to grab a drink or dinner that would be great! I highly recommend you use Google and read more from the blogs...some of the questions you asked make sense as a first time person visiting Brazil but some are just plain using your best judgement or common sense....' GOOGLE is your friend....my experience in Brazil is going to be completely different than yours or Tomcals or other members based on who they are....

I respect your desire to spend your money as you please... My dates are happy with the two chicken restaurants I love...one in Copa and one in Ipanema...one even commented that the meal at almost 98R was expensive... I prefer to trick my money off in the saunas versus mediocre restaurantswhen my US city has amazing restaurants and most of the boys we are treating in Rio could care less abt the meal or being impressed by fancy restaurants...

What is the area where street guys are in Bangkok....Hot guys that would be considered rough trade? Guys who do not go go dance but are selling sex in Bangkok... Thanks for info

Interesting because I rarely see "black" people in Copa or Ipanema....so I would think a random kid that is wandering looking for a victim would pick somewhere that he is not going to stand out like the beach to commit a theft.... I have been traveling to Rio since the early 2000s and have only seen theft with my own eyes on my last trip, on the beach....And I have been all over the city and even in favelas.... What areas are you hanging out in where you see direct robberies on every trip? Again, if you look like an easy mark, In what is considered a 3rd world country, you may get robbed...

Not sure what type of meal you are having or what you consider pleasant but I have never spent 100 US on any meals in the Caribbean or S America....that would be ridiculous... I do agree that airfare would probably be the most expensive cost and depending on how horny or whorish...lol...the costs for playing are not very extranominal

The story about you getting robbed sounds like something is missing....maybe you were staying behind because you found the guys attractive OR you didn't notice that locals start packing up and leaving at a decent hour and all the vendors on the beaches leave before it gets dark as well...A lesson has been learned... if you look like an easy mark, regardless of you being in Brazil or New York or Barcelona, you will get robbed,especially because there are a lot of poor people everywhere who are more than happy to take your $70... And you are very lucky all they did was take your money.... It is not rare at all...while I was there the week before Carnival, I saw 2 incidents on the beach during the day, which was packed with people....Silly tourists left their belongings out and one incident involved a very nice cell phone being taken out of a guys hand.... Use common sense at all times....

How much more info do I need to supply aside from attractive and muscular or athletic.... Not sure how to break that down any more... I prefer guys who know what a gym looks like...who are attractive...I like nice asses... I plan to spend the majority of time in Bangkok...Siom area... ***I understand that Bangkok is not the US or Rio but there has to be some muscular or athletic guys that are not twinks/slim/skinny/bony in this city...
