Be wary of reviews on rent.men. They now charge clients anywhere from $9.95 to $19.95 per month just to post a review of an escort. You can set up a free account, which will allow you to see past reviews of escorts, and contact their clients. But you cannot post a review unless you pay to be a Premium member.  And escorts can have your review "removed" should they so wish.

Having been in Bangkok for one week, I have visited all bars except Tawan. I am terrified of Tawan because I am small sized and afraid of being crushed by huge Tawan guys!
I agree that ranking the bars is difficult because everyone has personal preference so maybe it helps to state one's preference first.
For me, I like twinks and twunks. If hunks, not too big please. I like handsome faces as well. Tattoos are OK but not too many please. And lastly, I don't have budget for models who ask for 5000 baht short time.
Hence, my list of bars to off a guy in Bangkok:
    1) Screwboys
    2) Hot Male / Banana / Freshboys
    3) Jupiter / Moonlight / Dreamboys
But when it comes to watching a show and just having a good time, this is my list:
    1) Jupiter / Moonlight / Banana
    2) Dreamboys / Hot Male / Freshboys
    3) Screwboys

I am in similar situation like you. I met a Colombian guy through Chaturbate what started as regular private shows keeping my identity anonymous grow to love affair with deep feelings I finally met him last December  for a month and it was very interesting experience,we had a great time.
he's in early 20s  poor boy from small town and didn't like his work as a model in Chaturbate and in order to allow him quit doing it and start studying completion of a matriculation certificate and English course I am giving him monthly allowance, luckily Colombia is very low living costs country so I can afford his current lifestyle however it's not a negligible amount ,he is a modest guy live a very simple life and very happy with the current situation and that makes me happy too, He wants more serious relationship and to come living with me but it's not so simple as he thinks ( getting long term visa, culture difference) he's a bit childish and naive and can't understand the complications of moving to another country. I am not sure at the moment what direction our relationship will goes  and it's not a simple situation for me.

The last year has flown by with no time to put pen to paper, but also less inclination as Bangkok Guy and I have begun to fit into a routine in each other’s lives.
Business brings me to the region more frequently and Bangkok Guy now joins me for the weekend wherever I am. We have also enjoyed a couple of longer trips to Thai islands and to Japan.
Tokyo, it turns out, is not just shopping, although he did a lot of that, finding great deals on clothing. Bangkok Guy has wanted to live in Japan since he was a child. It has both natural beauty and Tokyo. It is clean, it is efficient, he likes the food and the people are polite. The hotel staff bowed to him which made a big impression. It ticks all his boxes. He had a blast. We will return.
However, this note is not a travelog. Rather, it is an observation on some of the realities, particularly the financial realities, of a relationship begun in a bar.
The short term reality is that, for very logical reasons, a relationship is a lot more expensive than bar hopping.
Like every other bar guy Bangkok Guy worked in a bar to meet financial needs. As he straightforwardly puts it ‘I am poor person’. Over the years I have known him I have come to understand how difficult it is for him to maintain a steady income, let alone to grow his income.
He is economical and careful with money, including my money. I visited his apartment, a studio in a well kept building in a less convenient location distant from public transport.  Clean, tidy, crammed in an orderly manner with his market stock. Microwave, hot plate, modest sized TV, shrine. Nothing expensive or flashy.
When I first agreed to give him an allowance we made a spreadsheet of all his expenses and his income. He was at best breaking even and, given down time for bad weather, more likely net negative. Initially the allowance covered half his expenses.
During covid the unstable nature of his income became very obvious, so I increased the allowance to cover all his expenses.
However, given the Thai family structure, his responsibilities extend beyond just looking after himself. Since his father left he is responsible for his mother and younger sister, particularly his sister. This puts huge pressure on him, which he does not like to bring to me but he has no other solution. So I have agreed to cover some of these family responsibilities. I have seen enough documentation that I am pretty sure that the money goes where I think it goes. Also, after six years, I trust Bangkok Guy.
An allowance which was originally a little more than I would spend in the bars during a couple of trips each year is now about three to four times that amount. Not an amount that will cripple me, but now enough to notice.
Despite the greater expense, I get more out of spending the money this way. Helping Bangkok Guy makes me happy.
The long term financial reality is the same as that for any relationship where the financial gap between the partners is large. To retire and maintain my lifestyle with Bangkok Guy will be more expensive than doing it solo. For starters I intend to travel a lot and I will need the resources to cover travel for two. More enjoyable, but more expensive.
Bangkok Guy and my goal is to be living together in three years’ time. I need those three years to improve my finances so that I can have my cake and eat it too. To be with Bangkok Guy with no diminution of lifestyle.
It’s good for me. I now have a lot of motivation as I head down the final stretch.

Maybe I should say he’s a Taiwanese not Thais, he’s not working at the Thailand massage. (Of course not in tawan, too)
If someone wants to order him in the Thailand massage store, he will be disappointed.

He said taiwan not tawan. On the subject of the shop using the model pic for advertisement, im on the fence here. It is obvious to me that the model in picture isnt whats on offer as the shop does post their line up of masseurs and none look like that guy. But at the same time, ive seem plenty of other brands using models to advertise their product, even gogobars, and those models are not on the offer as well.

Yes mostly right about Rome club Peter.
The two owners, partners, tried to reopen it as gay again  when straight failed. No luck, gays have long memories. It failed.
The two then moved to one of the islands and were murdered in their home.  As stories go.

this was essentially my experience at 15M as well. I wrote about it a couple of months ago. So I think one does not go there for a good massage. They do have quite a stable of guys. If I was just looking to fool around I think I would go back. There are a couple of newer guys in their listings who piqued my interest.
This guy would be my next choice I think:

Screwboys is back! However, guys are in basketball singlets and shorts. I rather see them in their previously infamous white briefs with blue stripes.
I went in at midnight last night. About 15 guys on stage with the rest seated with customers. Party atmosphere with some of the guys dancing to the loud music. Saw a smooth charming twink but I hesitated and he ended up being called over to two German customers who sat next to me. We had some small talk and toasted drinks but inside me, I was cursing myself for not being quicker.
Show started at 12.45pm. Lots of ladyboy performances. Only 2 big cock shows and these were not done by Screwboys guys but by freelancers. They came into the bar before their performances, paraded their cocks, earned their tips and quickly moved off.
Show ended at 1.30am and lo and behold, German customers paid up and left. I had expected them to take the twink off. I asked him over to my seat and five minutes later, we were in my hotel room. From Laos. Hardworking fella. After our session, he went to his next job which is at a karaoke bar. He says he only gets back to his room at 7am. Maybe I will ask him to bring me to his karaoke bar one of these nights.
Drinks at 350 baht and off fee 500 baht. I tipped mamasan 100 baht and paid Laos twink 2000 baht for short time session.

Monday night at Jupiter last night and it was a full house. Mostly Asian customers. Ladies were all seated in front aisle rows. The Jupiter dancers really loved performing for them. In terms of show items, same as last year. No difference. Why change a winning formula after all?
I arrived at 10.15pm at door and told waiter that I would be ordering a bottle of whisky. He led me to a table next to sound system. Not a sofa table but at least a private space and a splendid view of the locker and gym area where the Jupiter guys hang out before they go on stage.
I took a look at drinks menu and ordered one bottle of Johnnie Walker. Mamasan remembered me. "Poppy (the singer) no work tonight. He work Wednesday night." "You come alone? Where your friends?"
Mamasan called over Cambodian handsome model whom I met last year and whom I had also contacted im advance. He was in red briefs - tonight's attire for first model walk on stage for Jupiter guys. "I have to do model walk 1030. After that, I come to you." No problem, I have all night.
10.30pm - the first model walk started. Quite a number of Jupiter guys working today, easily at least 30. Most Mondays are quiet affairs.
After the first model walk, the show started. Cambodian was with me, now fully dressed. We watched the show until 11.30pm after the second model walk where the Jupiter guys came out in white shorts only. One interesting thing happened. An Asian male and female couple in 30s had come in and they were seated at table next to me. I knew they were from China because they spoke to each other in Mandarin and they spoke to mamasan in English. They were looking for a guy for a threesome. Mamasan called over 8 Jupiter guys to the couple and the lady took some time to pick one tall fair skinned Jupiter guy. All this while, I was sniggering away. I looked at my guy and asked him if he had ever been in a 3some. Cambodian smiled shyly like a schoolboy and shook his head. He need not worry about me asking him for a 3some. I wanted him all to myself tonight.
Still at least 2/3 of Johnnie Walker left. Shall go again another night this week and next week.

Wednesday night at Jupiter and longtime singer Poppy is back singing. He doesn't sing every night at Jupiter nowadays. Only certain nights.
I was at Jupiter with some fellow members after dinner together. We got a sofa seat at the back. Quiet night. Only 14 guys working tonight - fellow member actually meticulously counted them!
In terms of customers, only half full compared to Monday night. Many ladies. There was in fact one group of ladies on 2nd floor looking down like fangirls and they remained there until the show ended. VIP table near the stairs was reserved for 2 very well dressed ladies. Midway during the show, they asked mamasan to arrange some guys to stand in a semicircle for them to choose. Poor ordinary male customers would only be able to choose them during the 3rd model walk when they finally wear number tags on their jeans. During the 1st and 2nd model walks, they were in briefs and shorts but no number tags so it was quite difficult to call them down to your seat unless you have mamasan next to you and you tell him.
Cambodian handsome hunk whom I took back on Monday was not working today. But I spotted a Laos guy who worked at Banana last December and whom I met. So surprised that he's working at Jupiter now. Happy that he climbed the ladder. I wanted to get reacquainted with him. Unfortunately, another customer had arranged to off him in advance.
I told mamasan that we would not be offing any guy tonight but I asked mamasan if it was possible to send over some guys to our table who could drink and he helpfully found some from those who had not been offed. We played card game where the loser had to drink half a shot of whisky. Some guys barely lasted a few shots while some guys could really drink and lasted all the way till we eventually ended at half past midnight.

I have found many lads recently on the apps from Vietnam and not working in the bars. In a conversation with @paulsf he said he heard this is happening more often. I am glad for this. I guess I was hoping that Screwboys would open soon and draw them all in. But, being a bit impatient, I made a booking with one yesterday for this weekend. He quoted 2k for short time plus transportation. He was cute and versatile. I am looking forward to traveling to Vietnam even if only for one hour (or less).

    Eating
I visited the restaurant in Foodland, that has been mentioned several times by other members. I went there for breakfast the first morning in BKK. Cost was very reasonable, as has been mentioned, but I found the portions too big for me, so food went to waste. Following days, I went to a coffee shop in the Silom Complex, in Chamchuri Square and other shops near by. I also went to the Crackhouse (what a name!) for delicious pancakes. It is located in the Commons on Sala Daeng Road.
Dinners were at a mix of restaurants – Thai, Indian, fast food (had to try the chicken at Texas Chicken!).
Al Saray restaurant on Silom near the Sala Daeng BTS Station was a new find for me. They serve Indian and Lebanese food. I had one of the best biryanis there.
I also visited G’s (mentioned by @vinapu in his posts). Went there twice on subsequent days. Went alone one day and had their chicken with cashews. On that day, it was delicious. My Filipino friend also wanted to go there, so we went there the next day. And the same dish was not that great. Quite dry, less tasty and I had an upset stomach after eating there. Not sure what really caused that.
It is always a treat eating Thai dishes in the different restaurants. All (except for one day) are pretty good and quite reasonably priced.

    The Boys
I did not off any guys from the Clubs this time. All my meetings were arranged by intros on Grindr.
My hook ups varied between slim to muscular to athletic guys. One is a soldier; he was really handsome! I met up with him towards the end of my trip. I would have definitely had some repeats with him, if I had met him earlier. Well, a reason to go back to Bangkok within next few months! Two of the other boys were from Vietnam.
They all spoke good English, so it was easy to communicate and chat with them.
For massage at a shop, I went to Senso and chose a tall handsome guy, who was smiling at me (took the advice of other members). Others have described the routine at Senso: shower alone first, massage, the fun part and then shower together. I would go back to this masseur the next time I’m in Bangkok. The other massage sessions were in my room.

Rather than describing what happened each day of my visit, I will provide comments on different parts of my stay in Bangkok.
Impressions & Observations of Bangkok on this trip
I walked around the Surawong and Silom areas everyday and here are my observations of what I noticed since my last visit. Overall, there were fewer tourists than before, particularly those from China. The Patpong Night market is open again, but there seemed to be fewer stalls and fewer people visiting them each night. There seemed to be more massage shops on Surawong. A number of marijuana shops have opened up all over, now that weed is legal in Thailand. Several food carts along Surawong were open and seemed to be doing fine. Shops and services on Thaniya Road seem to be catering to mostly Japanese tourists now; I don’t recall that being the case before. Things are still not quite back to normal after the pandemic. A few of the places were still shuttered shut and have not reopened. I initially thought that some of the restaurants I had previously gone to were permanently closed. But I was mistaken: 2 of the 3 were still open. An Indian restaurant on Surawong is no longer there. Of the other 2, one closes early at 9 pm (I went there after 9) and the other is a restaurant now also sells weed (I initially thought the whole place was converted to a weed shop). A new fast-food place has opened up on Silom, near Sala Deng BTS Station – Texas Chicken; you see them being promoted in some of the Thai BL series. A lot more MBs and “massage therapists” are now on Grindr. Others have mentioned this too. A good number of locals wore masks, even when outside. Most tourists did not. On BTS, most folks, including foreigners, wore masks. Tim Horton’s, which has thousands of coffee shops in Canada, has recently opened some shops in Bangkok. I went to one and was disappointed. They do not offer brewed coffee – a bread-and-butter item in Canada at Tim’s - nor a plain toasted bagel. They offer Americanos, lattes, and other beverages and bagels with cream cheese only. XOne had the best exchange rates as mentioned by @vinapu (I hang on to every word he writes, and then I can’t go wrong! ).

You're kind of confirming what I thought you meant. The trouble is that both your "outright gay" and "normal" definitions contain two conditions each. What if one condition applies and the other does not apply?
Let me describe the scenarios and you try to work them out:
Senso and Arena might be your first ("oh, please God, no!") type. The boys line up in front of you and you choose one of them. I think they will have a minimum tip though I haven't been to either since Covid. However the outside of the shop is quite discrete, and no boys are hanging out front (though in Arena's case, they might be one or two outside on the balcony taking a smoke). But in Senso's case - as I recall, though other posters may update us - there s a rainbow flag out front. So, are these two "outright gay" places, by your definition?
KK Massage and Sawatdee Massage do not have boys sitting out front. Nor do they even have boys lining up in front of you, or behind one-way mirrors, inside the shop. Nonetheless, you're expected to choose your masseur (from photos) and there is a minimum tip. Does this make them "outright gay"?
Green Massage on Surawong and Paradis on Silom both have boys (and almost always boys) sitting out front. They may hail you as you walk past ("You want massage, sir?"). They kind of self-select rather than you choose the masseur and the price board does not indicate any minimum tip. However, both are on busy streets with lots of passers-by, and anyone seeing a male customer go into a shop with a male service provider will easily draw the conclusion that the customer is gay. (heterosexual customers generally choose shops with women masseuses out front). Not just passers-by, they usually would have other customers getting a foot massage in the downstairs lounge who have nothing better to do than to eye and judge every other customer walking in. In other words, the sexual orientation of the customer is actually much more visible to the public in such a shop as opposed to, say, Arena or Senso. The masseur may or may not do anything erotic inside the massage room. If they do choose to provide extra services, they may enter into a price negotiation with you inside the room halfway through the massage since no minimum tip was indicated by management. Some of us dislike such interruption. In any case, because of the constraints of three-quarter height partitions in some establishments, leading to loss of auditory privacy, they may not want to do insertive sex. Would Green and Pradis be "outright gay" places or "normal" places by your reckoning? (also, they almost never have in-room showers).
Olivia Massage on both Surawong and Silom have a mix of men and women sitting out front. They therefore do not look like exclusively gay male establishments. However, it becomes even more starkly obvious that even when women are available out front, the customer is still walking in with a male service provider. "Aha, that's a gay bloke". Both are on busy streets with foot massage lounges on the ground floor. All the other issues I mentioned above (negotiation in situ, lack of auditory privacy, no in-room showers) also apply here. So - "outright gay" or "normal"?
In short, why not use an app, and make sure the hotel does not have a joiner fee policy. But wait, the people in the lobby will see you having a male visitor....
