My fall trip to New York was the worst in years. there was so little theater that interested me that I might have well stayed home. I saw Big Fish, and cannot quarrel with its poor box office, and I saw After Midnight, which is more of a jazz show than theater. It was just okay. The best show on my list was A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, starring the wonderful Jefferson Mays, but I took ill right before the show and had to skip it. Spring theater looks more promising. Neil Patrick Harris will star in the wonderful Hedwig and the Angry Inch. No doubt it will be the must see ticket for gays. I remember seeing it off-Broadway many moons ago and being just knocked off my seat. Ticket prices keep climbing. Standard orchestra on Broadway is now in the $150 range, and they are just not giving value for the money, or so I think.

Last night the spouse put the movie Skyfall on the TV. It's playing on Netflix, and I loved it when I saw it in the theaters. Judi Dench is in it, and I like watching her on screen as well. So it seemed natural to go see her newest movie, Philomena. She doesn't play the tough head of a spy agency, but rather a lonely mother who had to give her son away when she gave birth at the age of 14, some 50 years back. Evil, cold, cruel Catholic nuns took her in, took her baby, and then subjected her to years of slave labor to pay their costs. We don't know what those costs were, especially since the nuns sold the babies they took in to US folks needing a baby or two. Philomena has always wanted to find the son she signed away, promising never to do just that. But, as part of a prospective story, a magazine underwrites her trip to the US to find her son, accompanied by a reporter with a back story of his own. After various amusing situations, frustrating situations, and a few closed doors, they finally to learn that the son grew up to be a lawyer, indeed, chief counsel to presidents Reagan and Bush the Elder. He was also gay and died of AIDS. So, we get a double whammy here. Judi retains her faith in the Church despite the sins they exercised on her. And, like mother, like son, as our gay lawyer turned his back on his own community to support Reagan and the Republicans when they themselves tuned their backs on AIDS. Naturally, the son died of AIDS. Did he ever try to find his mother? I'll leave that as my one spoiler left unsaid. The first hour of the movie drags and only comes alive with the discovery of the son. But it does a good job of showing a mother's love for her son and the frustratingly appalling ability of a mother to keep her faith in a Catholic Church that not only abused her, but gays and people with AIDS. Is there any insult a Catholic mother won't endure to keep right with Rome?

They like them, that's how! They are buying up pecans like never before, and, along with bad weather, pecan crops this year are down by millions of acres. With Chinese New Year at the end of January next year, pecans are a bigger part of the delicacies prized for that days long feast. Yet I recently bought a whole bag of delicious pecans just to snack on. It's walnuts that are getting expensive too. We just have to accept the fact that as poorer countries become more prosperous, the goodies we could afford are now affordable to many of them as well. So, share and share alike!

My cardiologist is the one who suggested that infrequent grapefruit might not be so bad.

She is going on tours after her current London show. I don't imagine she will ever retire.

Lucky me! I take Crestor! Crestor and Grapefruit Although most statin drugs should not be taken in combination with grapefruit products, Crestor is an exception. While grapefruit can increase the levels of certain statins in a person's blood, Crestor and grapefruit do not seem to have this interaction.

No, I didn't forget. I chose not to post that slanderous accusation against red grapefruit. It wouldn't hurt a flea, especially when limited to 8 oz. per week- even less when considering the drained juice.
-
I really like red grapefruit. I get a dozen 8 oz. cups at Costco, and eat one each week after draining some of the juice. Yes, I add a bit of sugar.. Yummy! Try it with your toyboy!

I am still on hold at the library. I just can't wait to see if my opinions agree with Adam Smith's review.

Does Miranda need to be given his Miranda warnings? Or, do his tricks need to be given Miranda warnings? You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you when I fuck you. You have the right to a condom. If you cannot afford a condom, one, or more as needed, will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have just read to you? With these rights in mind, do you wish to engage in wild sex with my big fat Brazilian schlong? If the answer is no, prepare to be tied up and flogged before being forced to take said schlong.

And his wife, no doubt.

At the risk of being labeled anti-Semitic, I don't approve of this action by the Israelis. That's what they do, isn't it, try to smear the person they disagree with by calling him or her anti-Semitic? I think it's a shame that so much of our Congress has sold out to a foreign government.

Hey, tomchen, sorry no one welcomed you you on your first post. Hope you will continue to post!

Mine was Scottish.

I did save it, but that would not attach to the thread either. So I found it on another site. Now everyone will be disappointed that it didn't knock their socks off after all my hullabaloo!

I saw another pic of him in a tank top. He needs the gym-badly! Really skinny arms. And he has to compete with the Schwarzenegger boy. Google Schlossberg, you get the other, who is hotly muscular.

It does have one of those horribly long addresses. I downloaded it to my computer and tried to upload it as an attachment, but that didn't take. It's no big deal, I just thought it was an interesting picture: https://blu171.mail.live.com/Handlers/ImageProxy.mvc?bicild=&canary=QDnuzPLiGCyCzw3a7jF1VC1ncZe6xnUZE9gLIGC4HBA%3d0&url=http%3a%2f%2fih.constantcontact.com%2ffs076%2f1101796400300%2fimg%2f577.jpg

Boytoy wouldn't allow my image, so sorry, my post failed. It is a jpeg image, which I thought worked here.

Child rape in the Orthodox Jewish Communities in the New York area have sure been in the news, with suggestions that some have the D.A.'s office in Brooklyn in their pocket. When politics becomes a first issue in deciding whether to file a case, we are in big trouble.
