I learned that, as soon as the site is working without a hitch, OZ will decide to upgrade it.

Indeed! Were you hanging from the chandelier when you took that shot?

If you follow these steps for Safari, you'll toss your cookies for all websites, not only this one. I just opened Safari 'Preferences', clicked the 'Privacy' button, clicked the 'Details' box, then found a couple of cookies that began with Boytoy and removed just those two. So far so good. -
At last! Obama challenges Boehner to allow a clean budget vote onto House floor "If Republicans and Speaker Boehner are saying there are not enough votes, then they should prove it," said the president. "Let the bill go to the floor and let's see what happens. Just vote. Let every member of Congress vote their conscience and they can determine whether or not they want to shut the government down."

I wonder if at least some of the high early demand is from folks who figure they better get signed up quick before the Tea Party takes it away. If the Democratic spinmeisters were as crafty as the Republican spinmeisters they'd at least be floating the possibility, though I haven't heard anyone say it yet. I don't really want the Democrats to be craftier than the Republicans, but I wouldn't mind them being a little better at calling out bullshit when they see it. For example, the reason the government has been shut down for six days is because the Speaker of the House refuses to bring a spending bill to the floor and let the members vote on it. But that's the job of the Speaker and the Democrats won't call him out for not doing it. I think Pelosi could be much more vocal here. Of course, as they say on the other site, I'm probably just being an ultracrepidarian.

For me, the real story isn't so much the Republicans as it is the Koch Brothers and their ilk. And, if I were a leader in the Democratic Party, I'd be singing it from the rafters. Find me a piece of mean-spirited, undemocratic legislation anywhere in the U. S., and I'll find you a trail to the Heritage Foundation and les Fréres Koch. The Tea Party whackjobs are their pawns, the ones who actually block democracy in Congress, and I'm not saying they're not willing pawns. But the strings are being pulled by the Koch suckers. This article in yesterday's New York Times shows how they're doing it for repeal of the Affordable Healthcare Act, and yet most Americans haven't a clue. Why the DNC isn't on the air 24/7 with this info is beyond me.

Good gosh! I've been reluctant to post since AdamSmith said number 1917 is inauspicious, but this is important enough to take a chance on something awful happening. To post an image, the first thing you do is find the image you want and copy its URL. Then you click on that little TV-like icon in the lower-middle of the posting tool bar. Paste the image URL in the window that pops up and click OK. You've posted a picture. Now I just hope AdamSmith was wrong about 1917 being a bad number to use on a post. -
Actually, the thought of somebody sitting around counting my posts would make me a bit less likely to post, rather than more. Doesn't get to the level of creepy, perhaps, not with the NSA's protrusive peeping. But still. Maybe better to just let folks drift in and post as the spirit moves.

Well, if you click my name above and then 'Posts' you'll notice that I've shared some of my thoughts with you twice today - thrice, counting this one. You might also want to double-check your 'ignore' list just to see if you'd be willing to let some of us back inside the rope again. PS: I'll also add that I miss FourAces. It's not easy becoming attached to a favorite poster who may up and disappear for a spell. I was sure happy to see MsGuy come back after a few months away, and AdamSmith after a few days. And there's a fatted calf waiting for FourAces when he next stops in.

Next they'll be after the poppy seeds.

The Economist's explanation says that 'mining' bitcoins becomes progressively harder over time, and that the maximum number that can ever be created is 21 million. In a related story, the founder of an on-line drug site was nabbed today in a San Francisco branch library. Silk Road did $1.2 billion worth of anonymous drug sales and earned Ross Ulbricht $80 million in commissions, all off it in bitcoins. The story of how the FBI tracked him down is pretty interesting. Sadly, big money brings big problems and the entrepreneurial cutie tried to set up two murders of folks who threatened to blow the whistle. Ordinarily I'd consider doing him, if it weren't for the hits he tried to set up and the fact that he probably won't look so good when he gets out of prison.

Saw a news clip yesterday with an Australian tourist disappointed because her family couldn't go to Yellowstone as they had hoped. She was amazed that such a fuss was being made over health care as her countrymen consider it a basic right. PS: They call their universal program 'Medicare'.

Good gosh! I had overlooked the fact that Hi's catchphrases were drink-specific and have just been grabbing whatever's handy. As soon as I sober up, I'll check with my doctor and see if I can get clearance to continue playing the game. Probably good advice for us all. Can one's cheeks ever be too rosy? ( Hi, if you could hold your response till I'm back from the hepatologist, I'd be much obliged. )

Glad you're back amongst us. My imagination was running wild.

Perhaps you could just show up and speak out.

Hopefully, he's making lots of new German friends.

Should we be doing this with or without a wand?

Please notice the past perfect conditional tense (in all possible senses of the phrase): Were I to spot a clone of my present-day self, my impulse would be considerably less adductive.

The only thing potentially creepy for me would be the reaction of the friend's sister (or brother). If it was just a fling, I wouldn't put other family members through the aggravation. But, if it's a relationship with staying power, then where's the harm? It's not like they're at risk for producing inbred children. I'll up the ante. Had I been born with an identical twin brother who was also happy and gay, I'd definitely fantasize about a relationship. Narcissistic, yes, but not creepy. Not to me anyway. Am I missing something?
-
No firsthand experience here, as he was several forms behind me. But, when AdamSmith lays a trail, I follow.
-
Well, let's just hope the Brewer twins never invite you to join them in a three-way.

Late one evening, while out on a lark, I sashayed 'round a path through the Park. There, attached to a tush Bobbing out of a bush, Was the 7th Seigneur of Sark!

Think of it! Should the two of them ever tie the knot, your friend's sister would be his new mother-in-law. And his niece.
