  1. David Geffen’s boyfriends always walk away with very nice parting gifts for playing horizontal “The Price Is Right”. However, most posters here are probably not Geffen or oil barons, or close to it.
  2. That may be his list price, but I seriously doubt he’s getting that in Brazil — even in São Paulo. That’s WAY above high-end market rate, even for “stars”.
  3. If we are talking about the same Felipe originally from PA, he goes to 117. I don’t recall ever seeing him at 202, but maybe I just missed him there or wasn’t there that night. And yes, his preços (whether an hour or an overnight) aren’t really any higher than the other higher-end sauna garotos To answer the OP’s question more specifically, I’ve never encountered a price tag in Brazil for an overnight that was anywhere near that high — even for the high-end sauna boys or the ones who advertise and think they are above working at saunas. That guy seemed to be fixated on USA/Canada/Europe pricing — which doesn’t work in the Brazilian market (unless it’s computers, electronics or appliances)!
  4. Thank you for posting this — because unfortunately, there are many posters here as well as onlookers and lurkers who will read glowing reports of Brazil and throw caution to the wind. Also thanks for chiming in about bad client behavior. I’ve witnessed it as well over the years, and even some posts at this board have alluded to some clients reveling in treating working boys like they are beneath them. I’m not suggesting that all sauna boys are perfect angels, but I certain have seen enough to know that some clients through their own behavior are just begging for trouble.
  5. I independently spoke to 7-8 different sauna boys and 2 sauna employees, face-to-face. Of those, 4 sauna boys and 1 employee knew of this incident, and provided me with details, most of which match up to the story. The others either knew nothing or at least would not admit it to me. Because the story was independently verified by 5 different people who knew (or knew of) both the garoto and the client, I tend to believe it happened — although some of the details may be sketchy. Perhaps your survey sample size was too small or you just spoke to some of the ones who didn’t know. As for the photo that was posted of the “suspect”, no one I spoke to believes that it was he who was involved in the killing. The poster needs to explain in detail how he knows he is a suspect or the photo needs to be removed in its entirety.
  6. I have similar stories about unscrupulous clients — mostly traveling ones (which is why I prefer not to socialize much with unknown clients when I travel). Last week, at 117, I witnessed a tourist client cheat one garoto out of his money and time, and his only response was basically that these garotos are so poor and desperate that they should be lucky to get whatever we give them. No one deserves to be murdered, but kindness and empathy and not treating these working guys like disposable trash is always a better option.
  7. I’m going to have to be the one to strongly advise readers, “DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.” You are not Tomcal. You cannot do what he does. It may or may not work out for you in the same manner.
  8. The story that I’ve been getting, as it is sing fleshed out by garotos and sauna workers that I know, is that the client was an older BrazilIan man. One of the boys worked at both 202 and 117, but the client met him at 202. The other boy was a “friend” of the garoto, but it is still unclear whether he actually worked at the saunas. They all went to a hotel and he was supposedly murdered over money (either he didn’t want to pay, or didn’t pay enough for their demands). As for the boys, the description I have is that they were both “pequeno” not “forte” - meaning they were on the twinkish side, not muscular guys (yet another reason why I tend to avoid smaller guys — they tend to have tough guy / Napoleonic Complexes, but I digress). Never such a good idea to take two boys that you don’t know (even if you think you know one) to your hotel or apartment. Something similar occurred in The DR to a colleague a few years back.
  9. I just reached out to a few garotos I know. A couple had heard about the incident. They think the boys may have met the client at Point 202 and then went to a hotel, but they are not yet certain. I’m trying to get more details.
  10. What sauna did this originate from?
  11. Not to even mention the potential harm and risk that you placed your Brazilian friends in by running off, leaving them with a pissed-off armed gunman (or two).
  12. 1. Glad you’re okay and no one was hurt. 2. I understand your adrenaline kicked in, but a phone isn’t worth your life. My insurance (with a little push back) would’ve sent me a new one overnight to Brazil. He “probably” wouldn’t have shot a white turisto in the middle of Ipanema (THOSE cases, unlike the 50,000 others, tend to make international news and the book is thrown at the brasileiro offender — and he most likely knew this), but it really is better to be safe with your life than sorry and dead. 3. Don’t display your phones on the street or in public places — especially at night. Yes, you and your group had targets on their backs. 4. “Cute and 20”? He would have made more off of you with a simple programa. 5. Did you get the license plate? If so, Id go down to the Tourist Police Station and make a huge stink. Brazil is broke and (at least currently) treats American, European and Asian tourists with money like first-class citizens. The tourist police station will escalate this with evidence like a license plate number. They don’t want the bad publicity and they desperately want the money. I’ve used the “American privilege” thing to my advantage several times, and I’m a man of color. It would work for you at least tenfold being a white guy from California!
  13. I just answered this question in the other thread.
  14. It depends on the context on how it’s said or written. It’s Brazilian slang. It could be “a ta”, which if said after something in a sentence, could mean “to you”. Or, most likely, if said alone in response to something you said, “a tá” is just short for, “ah! Tá bom!”, which is basically, “oh, it’s fine”, “Oh, OK”, or “Ah, I see”.
  15. It’s dull. There is no activity there anymore.
  16. No. That is NOT the Junio at 117 that I know. Mine is darker and dare I say it, has a better body and a bigger chest. He looks like Bruno Mars, if Bruno Mars has muscles. Out of respect, my policy is that I do not post face photos or easily identifying photos of garotos, especially not without their advance permission. But unless that is an unusually light photo of a garoto who looks like Bruno Mars in the face, then that’s not him.
  17. If you prefer twinks, then go to Manhattan Rios, the newer smaller sauna. I would rather remove my own spleen with an ice pick than have sex with a twink, and I walked in there on one of its busier nights (Friday) and it was Twink Central. You couldn’t get me out of there fast enough!
  18. As appealing as Santa Teresa may sound, if you’re not a seasoned Rio traveler, you might want to avoid staying in Santa Yetesa. It’s surrounded by several favelas that are very easy to unknowingly wind in by foot or by car. Thr side streets are notoriously unsafe after dark. “An Italian motorcyclist was shot dead after he rode into the Prazeres favela near Rio’s cobbled Santa Teresa neighbourhood last December. An Argentine woman died of gunshot wounds in February, after a carload of tourists made the same mistake.”
  19. Interesting, because that was the catalyst for my switch from AT&T!
  20. I switched from AT&T (which offers the $10 a day unlimited data, text and calling while traveling international) to T-Mobile which has a plan that allows for unlimited text and data plan whenever traveling internationally, a drastically reduced cellular data calls to and from most countries, and calls on Wi-Fi are always free..I’m very happy with the switch.
  21. The old standbys for single men (straight and gay) that want to stay in hotels in Colonial Zone that allow them to bring back Dominican guests are: Roma (I and II), both on the Conde, and the Discovery Hotel, has né block off the Conde. IDs of guests are always required, either left at the front desk or a Xerox copy taken of it, depending on management). As of a couple of years ago, neither Roma charged for guests and Discovery may or may not have charged a small fee like $5 - $15 per guests visit. I didn’t realize the Mercure is now shut down. That was always a good option because it’s right on the Conde and they had a pretty awesome patio breakfast. It was $15 to bring back a guest with ID. I was never much of a fan of Hotel Duque De Wellington as it was a bit of a walk from the Conde and the boys that hung around there weren’t my type. Also not a big fan of Adam Suites Hotel. I stayed there once and once was enough. They always turned the power off, including hot water, and lock the front doors every night. A “security” worker was supposed to be there to open the doors for hotel guests but I seemed to be waiting almost every night for 10-15 minutes to get in, or to let a guest out because the worker was nowhere to be found. Also, the Wi-Fi was only available in the small lobby. But the hotel is gay, it’s across from the gay clubs one block off the Condue (if those are still open) and the area gets trafficked a lot by cruisers and by hustlers, if those things appeal to you. My suggestion for this hotel, if you decide to book there, is only get the big suite on the second floor that has the balcony overlooking the suite.
  22. I have a few in my stable who are strictly gogo boys (gogo boys tend to view themselves on a higher strata than mere sauna boys, for some unknown reason — I guess whatever helps you sleep at night). I initially met them all discreetly, and did not discuss a programa immediately until off-site or alone privately. Because they like to elevate their status, the prices are higher to justify that. Some were dullards in the sack but a few are highly rated and would put the best sauna garoto to shame with their bedroom skills. As Tom says, many unknown variables go into play regarding if an individual gogo dancer decides to hook up with you, even for pay. In the past few weeks, I’ve witnessed some VERY inexplicable hookups, so I’m no longer going to claim, like other posters here have, that a client’s looks are EVER a factor with working boys who are all about the cash. I’ll just assume that these clients have loads of personality and plenty of game (in addition to reais)! The 1979 pop song by Joe Jackson, “Is She Really Going Out With Him?”, comes to mind a lot. They should play THAT on repeat at the saunas instead, replacing the continuous Whitney Houston and Cher techno remixes and Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita” that I hear ad nauseum.
  23. I had a similar experience with a working boy that I discovered was a Bolsonaro fan — while he was in my bed overnight! I had hired him in the past a few years ago and he is a nice guy, but I just can’t give any more money to him due to his support of Tropical Trump. Even whores have standards. There are more than enough fine, sexy working boys with hot bodies that don’t support a racist, misogynist homophobe who’d rather have his own son die in an accident than for him to be gay.
  24. To be even clearer, the “gay beach” (or the gay part of the beach) in Ipanema is directly between Postos 8 and 9. The dead center of it is where Farme de Amoedo ends at Av. Vieira Souto, and you’ll see two barracas (beach vendors) with gay rainbow flags (among others) on the beach. The periphery of that area is gay-friendly, but the farther you go out away from it, the less so (by Rio standards, of course). I just want to clarify this because some posters (and lurkers) here are WAY too literal, and could end up going directly in front of Posto 8 or Posto 9, expecting a “gay Barbie” experience and getting hugely disappointed.
  25. It’s not even wise to use the shower in your own apartment or hotel with a garoto / escort / hustler / unknown date outside the shower — unless you already have every currency known to mankind and every sharp object, every other valuable imaginable already locked away in a safe.
