Had she only lived a little longer. “Our greatest presidents have all been men and they’ve been very good for our country,” https://www.yahoo.com/news/phyllis-schlafly-conservative-activist-author-dies-92-012623124.html Phyllis Schlafly, Conservative Activist and Author, Dies at 92 Phyllis Schlafly, a longtime conservative activist best known for her work in defeating the Equal Rights Amendment in the ’70s, died Monday afternoon. She was 92. The organization she founded, Eagle Forum, said in a statement on its website that she died surrounded by her family in her St. Louis home. Schlafly first rose to prominence with the release of her novel, “A Choice, Not an Echo,” in 1964. The book, which chronicled the history of the Republican National Convention, would go on to sell three million copies and become an oft-quoted text for those on the far right. It was distributed heavily in support of Arizona Sen. Barry Goldwater’s GOP presidential campaign, and is credited for helping him land the nomination. Schlafly was politically active for decades after releasing her book, fighting against the Equal Rights Amendment that would have outlawed gender discrimination, calling the movement STOP ERA. STOP ERA transformed into Eagle Forum, the ultra-conservative organization still running with 80,000 members over several states. One of her main arguments against the ERA — along with her beliefs that it would lead to gay marriage, and make it more difficult for women to obtain custody in divorce cases — was that it eliminated the men-only draft requirement, and feared it would lead to women joining combat. Her protests used symbols of the stereotypical American housewife, such as homemade bread and jams. Schlafly, however, was hardly the stay-at-home mom she held as an ideal, as her critics often pointed out. She worked overnight through college during World War II, obtaining a Master’s degree in government from Radcliffe, as well as a J.D. from Washington University Law School. She attended every RNC since her first in 1952, and had two unsuccessful bids for Congress. Her organization Eagle Forum, founded in St. Louis, says on its website that it opposes “the feminist goals of stereotyping men as a constant danger to women,” and that it “exposes the radical feminists.” Among its principles are strong border security, lower taxes and supporting “establishing English as our official language.” In her later life, Schlafly voiced her support for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. “Our greatest presidents have all been men and they’ve been very good for our country,” she said. In a statement on her death, Trump said, “Phyllis Schlafly is a conservative icon who led millions to action, reshaped the conservative movement, and fearlessly battled globalism and the ‘kingmakers’ on behalf of America’s workers and families. I was honored to spend time with her during this campaign as she waged one more great battle for national sovereignty. I was able to speak with her by phone only a few weeks ago, and she sounded as resilient as ever. Our deepest prayers go out to her family and all her loved ones. She was a patriot, a champion for women, and a symbol of strength. She fought every day right to the end for America First. Her legacy will live on in the movement she led and the millions she inspired.” Schlafly’s husband, Fred, died in 1993. She is survived by six children, along with 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/conservative-activist-phyllis-schlafly-dead-at-92_us_57ce0171e4b0a22de096adfe?

Cocksuckers and Troll Thread - Fascinating Discussions from the Dark Side
MsAnn replied to Suckrates's topic in The Sandbox
This is a crock of shit and you know it Lucky. I have been reading all the threads from the beginning, even those that have vanished. It was you and RH with your subtle nasty little innuendos that continue to bait Suckrates. I expect as much from RH, and after today, it has become more clear perhaps why he does it, but I always thought better of you. Did you really think he would just sit by while you and RH threw mud? So now he's some form of cancer, really? You are free to post any thread that you choose, start any conversation for the betterment of the board, and ignore those that are of no interest to you, but accusing others of being a cancer, because they don't conform to your idea of what this message board is or should become, is grossly unfair. You had the same M.O. on Daddy's, and where did that get you? In the case of JD, well I know the back story more than most, and frankly he is not even worthy of discussion, but Sucrates was hardly ragging on JD. To be clear, JD came to this forum with less than honorable intentions. My sympathies for him vanished months ago. All the best. MsAnn/Bigvalboy Now back to the Downton Abbey marathon. -
Thanks for the info on Costco. Unfortunately the Costco here is two freeway exits away, and I won't make the trip, but Trader Joe's just opened a new store around the corner, and I've always been a big fan. I know I dropped the ball on my diet and i'm anxious to get things rolling again...all the best

Thanks for the motivation Lookin. I bought this little beauty about a year ago (yes I fell for the infomercial. Like yourself I noticed an immediate boost of energy and sex drive (wink wink). The little dancer boys went crazy, and now, well now I'm a freakin legend. But lately I've been off my game. I have a short attention span, and yes, feeding this beast meant being constantly vigilant every time I went shopping. It was a never ending supply of veggies. I eventually lost interest, and Domino's was on speed dial. As of today, it is collecting dust on the kitchen counter..BUT BUT BUT I am suddenly motivated by your post, so I'm going to dust it off and see if the motor will fire up. I just added spinach, kale, carrots, chard, beets (yuck) apples (see Gman's thread on Daddy's) and parsley to my Trader Joe's shopping list. You have to be carefull with parsley. Wonderful addition to the blender but a small amount will over power anything else you add to it. I think I can already feel a little tingle coming on down there.

There's something sad about a man who allows his life unravels in such a public way.

Woke up this morning thinking about you Mr. Oz. Much has changed in the last couple of weeks, and I am hoping that considering the most recent polls of Clinton pulling ahead in the battleground states, that you will be sleeping more comfortably at night. Not that I am always right...lol...but I told you that you had nothing to worry about. Yes, I know, it's only August, but things are looking pretty damn good. Cheers...MsAnn

That was as good as it gets. On to November!! "Let our legacy be about planting seeds in a garden you never get to see, that's why we are here, not only in this hall, but on this earth"

Sorry, I refuse to vote for Donald Trump.

MsAnn "Likes" this. And "prick" would have been hilarious on national TV.

I "LIKE" all of these. I'm out of "likes' again. Imagine that. Oz and I had a little disagreement in the Political Section and she took all my likes away again.

Funny you should say this: I have always loved her. LOL But, I just did not like this pick. I'll get use to it, much like I did the taste of sperm. It is an acquired taste and I had to gag the first few times it hit the back of my throat. But, I keep working at it Just now turned on CNN, and Van Jones said the exact same thing. Not about the sperm, but about Kaine. He said, in speaking about Kaine "I just think that there is a whole wing of the Democratic party that needs time to digest this pick". I understand the concern and disappointment that many have. Certainly you are not alone. Many of my California friends feel the same way. See everyone at the polls.

Thank you Adam Smith for your posts. And Oz, AS is spot on. Much of what you see the media broadcasting on TV is the overblown hype from his rallies and the hysterical fear of a Clinton presidency. Moore is not entirely incorrect, but you have to realize that part of Moore's motivation is to make sure that the left doesn't become complacent thinking that the election will be a slam dunk for Hillary. He wants people to be nervous about a Trump presidency. Dan Rather has been saying the same thing for weeks now. And it is interesting to note that at the bottom of MM's article, he says: (Next week I will post my thoughts on Trump’s Achilles Heel and how I think he can be beat.) More than anything, Moore is playing the "Devils Advocate" and trying to drive a narrative. He wants people to start thinking and being engaged in the process, that's his motive, well that and making money of course, but I've never faulted him for that. Oh and the RNC convention? Despite the hype and all the talk of Trump being the "showman" and knowing how to work the media, viewership was down, not up as Trump claims, even though Ivanka began peddling her outfit shortly afterwards. Well I don't actually blame her for that. That girl can walk a 6" pump.

I believe under the circumstances it was the perfect choice. This is no time for idealism, this is a time for reality. This is about winning the election. It's a chess game, nothing more. This is a time when outmaneuvering your opponent takes precedence over all else. The reality is that Politics is a messy and corrupt business, pretending otherwise would be foolish. I like Warren, I like Bernie, they embody what many in politics should strive for, but this is not their time, they would not have served her purpose, and very likely would have lost her the election, and then where would we be, standing on our principles, watching the Republicans take us back 50 years. Ok, I know, a little preachy. MsAnn exits stage left.

Is It Wrong For Me To Confront Someone Who Makes Racist Comments??
MsAnn replied to a topic in The Sandbox
Oh dear Lord. Below is what you posted. It says 8 hours ago, MsAnn said: And I did not say that, and then you respond to something I did not say. I concur, but that was not my quote. Step away from the key board and go get some fresh air.(That's only a suggestion mind you. You're free to do as you please. Moving on Maybe if you didn't make such derogatory, smart ass comments(like you always do), one wouldn't have went on a rampage. You're so quick to point out other members faults, but will never admit to yours and the things you say and that that would warrant someone to go off on. Again my motto is, " if you don't want drama thrown at you - don't create it" as I feel you did so by saying hurtful and spiteful things towards me that were unacceptable and inappropriately disgraceful to me that were unnecessary. Even when you were proven wrong(like accusing me of making fake profiles) you never once apologized and said your sorry for any of the wrong you've commented that somewhat hurt my reputation being what you accused me of was false on your part. Is It Wrong For Me To Confront Someone Who Makes Racist Comments??

Maybe you need to take a little break from all of this. You misquoted me as you did JJ earlier. You're mixing up your quotes and responding to the wrong person. I was not the one who said that. But I wish you luck.
