I enjoy writing on here and answering the occasional question but I don’t usually post trip reports. The reason being that when I go to Rio, my trips mainly consist of going on long runs, drinking caipirinhas while staring at the ocean, doing only work that I want to do, meeting up with the same core group of two or three garotos, attempting to improve my feeble Portuguese, playing on Grindr and making a trip or two to the saunas. Since only the last item on that list is really appropriate for a trip report, I don’t post all that often. There is also the issue that when I first started traveling to Brazil about four years ago, I did document my experiences pretty well on here and acquired a stalker in return that I had to block from my social media accounts. At about that same time, someone (almost certainly my stalker) spent the time to search through the ~40,000 followers on Instagram of one of the garotos I had written about all so that he could contact my friend’s mother and tell her basically that her son fucks male tourists in exchange for Reis. The joke was on him though because none of this was news to her; she was following her son on Instagram after all and presumably looking at the pictures he posts, also it’s hard to explain but, well, Brazil. My activities here in Bangkok are probably suitable for a trip report though so I shall do my best. The massage yesterday at 15M Massage was amazing. I highly recommend the place. The massage was excellent and the messeur was a gorgeous 26 years old from Myanmar that I hit it off with so I asked him if he wanted to meet up for drinks after he got off work last night. He said he doesn’t drink but definitely was interested seeing me out side the shop so we exchanged Line and met up later that day for an alcohol-free dinner. Thanks (and I very much enjoy your trip reports) but this will never be home. Aside from the fact that learning to speak even the most basic Thai is beyond me, the true deal breaker is the time difference. Watching - and attempting to force myself not to read - emails roll in as the eastern seaboard comes online while things are winding down here in the evening is hard. Rio de Janeiro on the other hand is only an hour ahead. I also seem to be more apt to form relationships with guys I meet in Brazil which I like because I prefer to see the same guys multiple times (or the ones I connect with at least) rather than an endless carousel of random dick. The plan for today is gym, 15M Massage, delicious Thai street food and Kaikan Onsen.

Life is strange. I was planning to spend ~10 days this month in Rio but complications at work forced me to put off actually booking the trip multiple times and, well, when I finally did go to book the trip, airfare and hotel in Brazil were absurdly expensive so I investigated other options… Greetings from the lobby of the Le Meridien. I’m told my room will be ready shortly. Would any other members happen to be in Bangkok this week?

I got a visa in March of 2024 that says it is good until March of 2034. Is that still good or do I now need something else? Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam in January was amazing but I need to get back to Brazil. Also, I may have the opportunity to become a remote worker in about a year. If there is anybody out there - ideally American (disclosing my nationality and cringing is a new feeling for me that I really dislike) - that is not so much retired but living and working in Brazil, I would really, really, really like to chat with you. I have a bunch of questions about taxes and owning or renting property in Brazil.

The VCK cool space sauna was decent. The night I went, the crowd was mostly younger and mostly local-ish and looking to play with the same but - as has been said many times - it only takes one and I left satisfied. Avoid Krubb Bangkok sauna. The place was dirty and populated with out-of-shape foreigners. There is no need to travel halfway around the world for that. I wanted to try Ryuu Onsen but ran out of time. If you are ever in Saigon, Nadam Spa is among the best anywhere with decent massages on offer too. Tuesdays and weekends are the best days to go.

True but there is excellent food here though and tons of foreigners looking to play on Grindr. A very cute Canadian from Toronto just left my hotel room. I wrote that post more than three years ago. It still sums up how I feel about this question but I will add that as the garotos have slowly transitioned from mainly two-thirds my age to closer to half my age (i.e. I get older) it has become harder. In my opinion, the really hot guys are also less frequently found in the GP saunas these days.

Interesting…. I would like to see how Thailand fits into the hypothesis I have formed. Do you happen to know about how much a 30-day supply of PrEP costs in Thailand? Also, approximately when did it become available in Thailand?

It’s hard to explain. I don’t regret coming here or anything. In fact, I’m certain I’ll be back but definitely think I understand what your saying. The chances of finding a 25 year old here that thinks it’s a good idea to come to my hotel room, spend two hours exchanging bodily fluids, drink some caipirinhas and get some food while staring at the ocean and then followed possibly by trying yet again to make a new gay boy are approximately zero where as in Rio that has happened at least once on most of my trips. As a wiseman once said though it only takes one. I met a completely age inappropriate guy from Vietnam in the sauna yesterday. In broken English he told me that I had a nice ass and since he had pretty decent abs and the rest of him was nicely put together too, I let him fuck me. Still, I feel like in Brazil a similar situation probably would have progressed to an evening of, well, what described above but here the sex was decent and he came but then said he needed to go home and get some sleep so that he’s not too tired for work the next day. @floridarob Brazil has definitely spoiled me. A massage after a 16 flight is kind of amazing but I miss the sizable population of ~28 year olds that think having sex with a moderately fit old white guy from the States is a good idea. Yeah but his looks reminded me of one of the first guys I ever met in Rio who was incredible and with whom I’m still in touch. First of all, let’s get one thing straight, my Portuguese is on par with that of a drunk third grader’s but, still, that’s very kind of you to say and it is generally good enough to explain what I’m interested in having go where which is important but, then again, since I generally like “most things” and I am kind of a whore even when there is an error, well, it’s not that big of a deal. I got hooked on Rio because guys that look like this: generally are agreeable to spending time with me at my hotel under circumstances that are easy to recreate time and time again. That said, and for those of you that may have just begun planning a trip to Rio de Janeiro after looking at the picture, I strongly recommend you go but, if you are able to figure who the garoto in the picture is, take a pass. He is gorgeous but I definitely recommend you pass. Why am I telling you all this? Well, I am very interested in going to Ryuu Onsen because it appears that this will be there: but, unfortunately, somebody seems to have put all the information in Thai. Could one of the esteemed members of this board explain how I can find out who will be at Ryuu and when? A short explanation of how I can do some of the things I’m interested in doing with the guys in the pictures would also be very much appreciated. I like new experiences.

I made numerous trips to Thailand over a ten year period prior to COVID but never went to Brazil. Post-COVID, I made my first trip to Rio and basically fell in love with place (or more accurately the guys there and their general passionate attitude toward sex) and haven’t returned to Bangkok since with the exception of a long layover last year that gave me a chance to visit the city briefly and caused me to plan the trip I am about to take. I’ve been reading this forum diligently so as to make the best use of my upcoming time in Bangkok since I am no longer in touch with any of the guys I used to know in Thailand. I think I have a solid plan but what I’d really be curious to know is: 1. I’m definitely not a Thai massage shop or go go bar virgin, in fact, leading up to the long layover I mentioned I spent a significant amount of time planning the one massage that I had time for in Bangkok and, well, I did a good job. It was kind of amazing. So, if I’m not a newbie but I haven’t spent any real time in Thailand over the past 5 or 6 years, what am I? Has anybody made a return visit to Thailand under similar circumstances? How was it? 2. One of the many things I like about Brazil is using Instagram to meet gorgeous guys. For reasons that will always mystify me, a message from a moderately fit American in his early-40’s to a drop dead gorgeous garoto has a more than decent chance of receiving a response in Brazil. Is there a parallel in Thailand by any chance these day?

This is the whole sex worker issue that I believe you and I agreed to disagree about previously. You see it in black and white and, well, I don’t. Last time you posted a scene from Sesame Street which I thought was quite clever as I recall. In any case, I take Friend at his word because he is a friend. I also believe him because while I never used IG to, um, supplement my income by fucking tourists in exchange for dollars I guess since I grew up in America, I did model when I was in school and the photographers - approximately 100% of whom were gay - expected to be able to touch me and watch me change clothes in front of them during the shoots which I allowed because it was expected and it didn’t really bother me all that much and it was an easy way to earn some extra money. In any case though, I stopped doing that and don’t see why someone else couldn’t do the same. I have also stayed in touch with one of the photographers and consider him to be a friend even though he is now very old and I am old. We get together a few times per year and go out to dinner.

Some combination of he is getting older and doesn’t want/need to do it anymore. He is actually the second Brazilian I know who has “retired” when he hit his late-20’s. I believe him because his social media is much less suggestive than it used to be. I also cannot think of a reason why he would want to mislead me about it which is the main reason I believe him. In any case though, I only included that detail so that readers would know compensation was not a factor in his experiences.
