I'm not losing my sleep over whether my wai is correct or not. As foreigner I assume we are given a lot of leeway in our small transgressions on domestic customs like foreigners everywhere else  .
Needs to be said that once I wai'ed , if that's the word, cleaner at Raya hotel. Wai was too high probably  she noticed it and was clearly pleased

Sorry to hear your disappointment. But if you go again, don't go here at 11pm, most boys except the homeless ones will be gone by 9pm, actually mostly 8pm. Also these days weekends and Wednesdays seem be more active. Not sure but I have always been lucky and didn't encounter any issues you mentioned. But once I heard a rumor that I am a difficult customer from a visiting Brazilian so yeah when the boys don't like you, they can spread rumors, mostly the boys who didn't get hired are pissed and take a revenge in that stupid manner. Some boys simply believe that, I guess that is the reason why they have to escort.... Smart boys there do make a good amount of money but the stupid ones not so much. I guess that is the same for every business.

Just go and you will have fun just being there. There are two areas with boy bars - Boyztown near Walking street and Jomitien Complex Supertown few kilometers south with east connection by baht bus between them and Sansuk sauna in side street  half way through.
Grindr is safe and you can trust  guys meeting that way to the same degree you would be trusting any strangers i.e. normal precautions and common sense applies.
Spend time reading posts in this section and you will get better ideas about Pattaya scene.  

It's not just that I loathe the rowdy, selfish behaviour of some of the participants- though I do-but that I have a rather old-fashioned view concerning ancient cultures and their struggle to survive the current disintegration of social values that we see all around us. Everywhere.

When I first met my beloved, he regaled me with stories of his life back in Kamphaeng Phaet and the  traditional values with which he was brought-up. Songkran in his village  was celebrated in the traditional way and one of those traditions was that the  young visited elderly relatives and sprinkled water on them. Sprinkled, not drenched with high-powered water-guns. 
My experience of Songkran- and it was a week before the actual event, something which I have never suffered- was a bucket of ice and water thrown at me while riding a baht-bus from Jomtien. Later that day, I was in Pattaya Second Road when I was by approached  a Thai family; parents plus  a boy of about eight years old. He pointed a water-pistol at my face. "No," I said, "don't you dare." Very sternly, you will understand.
He did dare. But what really  annoyed me was that his parents laughed.
So there you have it; the old values and the new. Yes, I'm getting old.

For a plate of Thai posh nosh, then May's in Jomtien is worth a visit.
Bit pricey, great decor and ambience, portions big.

Two weeks ago I got back home from a very nice trip to Dubai (before the war started) and Thailand and I want to share my experiences with you. 
I will write a separate trip report for my time in Thailand. This one only covers the 5 days I spent in Dubai. 
It was my first time in Dubai and it had never been too interesting to me to actually visit, but for this trip I just wanted to explore a new destination for a few days and Dubai seemed to be the right choice. 
I arrived on a Sunday morning and took the metro to my hotel. I specifically picked a hotel close to a metro station as that usually gives you quite some budget friendly and quick transportation options without having to use taxis/grab/bolt/etc. all the time. 
I did a bit of sightseeing and of course also had a look at Grindr and Romeo. Using a VPN, it was no problem to access the apps. I was surprised about the amount of guys using face pics. There were lots of Filipino and Indian guys, a few Arabs, and a few Africans. I had not specifically planned to hook up in Dubai but one guy from Senegal had gotten my attention, and I couldn't say no to that African twinkish jock, who was in his mid twenties. We chatted for a bit and I asked to meet him the next evening. I was really nervous how things are at hotels in Dubai. The elevator/stairs of my hotel were opposite of the reception and there was always a security guy present. Mister Senegal asked for my room number and name, in case he needs to register, but I wasn't sure if it would be a good idea to share that so I didn't and suggested to meet in front of the hotel. About 20min before our date I went outside of the hotel for a cigarette and waited next to a couple of other guys just sitting and smoking. He arrived on time and looked very handsome. We chatted a little and I used my very rusty French (language) skills. The profile pics definitely didn't lie and he was indeed a French speaker so Senegal could definitely be his country of origin. I felt a little anxious when we walked towards the hotel entrance, just totally unaware if anyone would stop or question us. No one did, we quickly got in the elevator and went to my room. He wasn't particularly shy and we had a pleasant time together. He certainly tasted good 😋. I didn't have much local currency on me, so I had offered him 50 Euros when we were chatting before, which he was happy about. He told me it was only his second month in Dubai and that he was looking for a job in a hotel. Once we were finished he left and I was very satisfied. 
I arranged a second date with him for my last night in Dubai. Same procedure with meeting in front of the hotel. This time I wasn't that anxious, considering how easy it was the first time. This time, the security guy interfered though, when we wanted to get into the elevator and asked if he was registered as a visitor. Pure awkwardness on my side in that moment but Mr. Senegal didn't seem to bother and just quickly showed his ID at the reception who typed in something on her computer and in about 1 minute we were good to go. It was pretty obvious what was happening, but the hotel staff stayed discreet and I might have even noticed a little smile from the muscular Arab security guy. I wouldn't have said no to him either... I still had a bit of a bad feeling if the visitor registration would cause any issues when checking out from the hotel. Anyway, we went up to my room and I enjoyed the time together with Mister Senegal once more. It was equally fun as the first time and once we were done and he had left, I started to prepare my luggage for the departure the next day. At checkout, there was no mentioning of my visitor or any extra charge, so I was relieved and glad that I took the opportunity to add Senegal on my list of nationalities I had sex with. 
My flight left Dubai on February 26 around 6pm towards Kuwait, where I had a connection to Bangkok. Considering the tension between the US, Israel and Iran the weeks prior, I was glad that my stay in Dubai was unaffected. Only short after my arrival in Thailand did I realize how lucky I actually was to still get out of the Gulf region just in time, when I read about the start of the war the next day. 
My next trip report will come soon and focus on the fabulous time I had in Jomtien and Bangkok.

Yes hot and I think he’s straight like many others  there. 

I popped in for a solo visit on Thursday evening. When I wandered past at about 7pm, the owner was outside and suggested that I come back at 8pm. 
So I returned at about 8:15pm, not wanting to appear too desperate, only to find that the place was quite full already. About six other customers, whom I took to be mostly regulars, as they had already hoovered up the best of the boys to sit next to them.
The four remaining on stage stood motionless staring at their phones and avoiding all eye contact. I picked one to sit next to me, and I enjoyed his company, although again he totally avoided any eye contact, presumably preferring to imagine he was a participant in one of the videos he watched on his phone.
I also had a great view to the left to me, where another customer had assembled a lineup of three boys. He worked through them one at a time. As each one finished, then the next moved over. Seemed like a fun way to arrange things, if budget allows.
Staff seemed quite cheery on this occasion, and I enjoyed my visit. I left at about 9:30pm, by which time almost all the boys were “resting and recuperating”.
So I have a feeling that the best time to come may be 7:59pm, or otherwise much later, but not in between.

Better still @Olddaddy, setup a Tradies bar. The boys can be offed to partake any number of jobs, check your plumbing, wire you up, mow your bush, survey your area, cook up a treat or just scrub your carrot, put up shelves, plowing your land, vitamin D supplements, games of bashing the Bishop or bumping uglies, sweeping the chimney, the possibilities are endless!

Keep in mind, it could be fellow customer rather than  staff who cleared you up so it could happen everywhere. Don't you have pockets ready to host your money ? Phone substitutes many things but wallet? You not alone, i noticed when I tipped my last boy before leaving Thailand week ago he placed  money in case holding phone which I found abuse of pristine note.

Difficult to be too specific here on a web page that is open to the universe. I see a previous poster described a “kite-flying competition”. 300 baht placed in one of the bins, to be awarded to the first participant to complete the challenge, seemed to do the trick.
Of course, that was the illustrious members’ rate, at a time when the place was pretty much devoid of customers. Perhaps it might take more to generate sufficient excitement at other times. 

Update on this place, having paid my first visit here on Friday evening at about 9-10pm. Many thanks to other illustrious forum members for introducing and accompanying. 
Having arrived before them, with a little trouble finding the exact spot (location on Google Maps was out - I have since managed to get that corrected), and finding a seat, I asked for the drinks menu, to which the response was a laugh and “we don’t have one”.
Secure in the knowledge we would be in the company of experienced regulars, and having ordered the drink, it arrived but still no idea of price, nor any bin/chit. Only when they arrived some minutes later, did our bin and chit magically appear.
About 8 guys on stage, a fairly random selection of types. Shirtless but all wearing jeans or similar that would be suitable for a temple visit.
Thanks to said illustrious members for full introduction to available activities here, I certainly enjoyed the experience of this place. I have never been anywhere quite like it (or even heard of). It was very kind of you to take the time to provide the full guided tour.
I would certainly come back again, if for no other reason than to “pay it forward” when introducing others to the delights of Pattaya. I hope the place remains, though they could certainly do a few things to smarten it up. But the hiding of pricing was off-putting. If I was on my own, and no prices were available at a place, I would not stay in the first place.

Best idea to prevent somebody unwanted to enter our room is to meet them in the lobby or even better on the street so if things don't work, at least you have some level of protection against nasty surprises. 
Video call is great but it's not unknown to scince that it may be somebody else, not actual guy, answering it, to which at least two of our past and actual members can attest. 

I visited Asian Cam bar while in PP for 3 days. It is a new bar but the owner has put a lot of time and effort on the decor and this shows. Really friendly owner and the guys are hot and personable. Great that the ones I spoke to were able to speak English too. Drinks were made with nice spirits and were delicious and reasonably priced. An evening here will not break the bank.  This is a great addition to the PP gay scene with the added bonus of hot eye candy everywhere you look. Highly recommended.

I have always found Jomtien Supertown to be a fun place at Christmas. It has quieter bars (Boy Gaga, Meeting Place) where you can actually talk to the more lively bars…I’m sure you know which ones they are. Some places such as The Venue put on Christmas themed shows. We went last year with friends from BKK on Christmas Day evening and had a great time. Some restaurants such as Poseidon and Yupins have Christmas themed dinner and lunches. As the complex is so highly decorated, you can’t forget it’s Christmas during the week up to New Year.
 

I checked out POC bar.  The most lugubrious joint I've visited in decades of whoring. 30$ for a beer after I invited one 'host' to have a drink, only to have several mute and unappealing locals sit down with drinks that ended up on my tab. Not worth arguing over. Just avoid. Never again
