  1. Putting the “fun” back in Fun Bar
  2. The new sign is up. The guys working/sleeping there told me they open in early December.
  3. I walked by today and here’s a quick update. They were working on the bar with the question mark and I saw the owner of M-Bar there so it looks like he could be adding it to his existing portfolio on M-Bar and Sunee Bar. I should have taken a photo when I went by the first time and the door was open. The Dragon Music Lounge will be reopening soon under new ownership. A guy at Sunbar told me it’s going to be called PP Bar. Fun Bar is undergoing major renovations. I’m not sure if the name will change.
  4. I recently switched from Express VPN to Nord VPN. I like Nord VPN a lot more.
  5. They were pretty brazen putting QR coded stickers all over the city, running a website and offering one hour delivery. I like the part in the article about “harming Pattaya’s tourism image”. https://thailandtv.news/pattaya-news-british-man-and-thai-national-arrested-in-pattaya-for-selling-illegal-sex-toys-and-poppers-via-qr-code-stickers/
  6. Interesting that I would come across this topic today. My subscription to Express VPN expired and I’m hesitant to renew it after finding out it’s owned by an Israli billionaire. On the other hand it has worked well when I’m in Asia. Does anybody have experience with other VPN’s ? There’s numerous reviews in the internet but it’s difficult to distinguish between a legitimate review and fake reviews or paid advertising.
  7. Key Findings from CHOICE CHOICE tested 20 popular sunscreens labeled SPF 50 or 50+ in an accredited Australian lab. Only 4 out of 20 met or exceeded their claimed SPF ratings . The standout performers were: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Wet Skin SPF 50+ — tested at SPF 72 Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Lotion SPF 50 — tested at SPF 56 Cancer Council Kid Sunscreen 50+ — tested at SPF 52 Mecca Cosmetica To Save Body SPF 50+ Hydrating Sunscreen — tested at SPF 51 The worst performer was Ultra Violette Lean Screen SPF 50+ Mattifying Zinc Skinscreen, which only delivered an SPF of 4, confirmed by repeat testing in Germany (SPF 5) . Other sunscreens widely missed the mark, showing SPF results mostly in the 20s, 30s, and 40s, far below the claimed 50+ .
  8. Thank-you for posting this. Very insightful.
  9. Do the hospitals or EMS get paid to provide these stories to The Thaiger. Maybe the word “discrete” doesn’t translate well to Thai
  10. Thanks for the pics. Too bad it generally not allowed to take photos. Adds so much to the story.

    Arrival report

Did you ask the driver at the airport or use the meter? I’ve always paid a flat rate.
  12. Why even bother to engage, especially on Beach Road
  13. Very sad. You never know what’s going on in someone’s head
  14. I was in both places last year. When I go back to Thailand I’ll take a pass on Phuket and find a place in Pattaya with a pool.
  15. Here’s a list of vaccines you can get at the Thai Travel Clinic https://www.thaitravelclinic.com/cost.html
  16. As I started reading this article I thought it sounded reminiscent of David Carradine’s death in Bangkok, however there was no mention of auto-erotic asphyxiation. RIP.
  17. Thanks for posting this. I always thought that the hotel was paid at the same time I paid for a booking. Makes me wonder how much cash flow booking.com generates by deferring payments.
