  1. http://www.pattayadailynews.com/en/2012/12/09/brit-leaps-to-his-death-after-thai-gf-splits/ A very odd news article that gives a bit more detail into this sad story.
  2. I went in tonight and it must have been an off night. There are only 4-5 boys there. But, I thought for 99 baht, I'd site and have a drink. I did. The music is not blasting like many bars and I like that. The one boy that came to the table was nice and friendly. However, with not much going on, I decided I'd move on to the next bar. I looked at the bill and the drinks are now 140 baht. So, I guess the 99 baht drinks are now gone and I looked around and saw the new signs that all drinks are now 140 baht. Oh well.
  3. Funny you two! No, I just get frustrated at times. Was in IT City yesterday and wanted to buy something and they didn't know the price. After 6 people came over to help still no one knew the price. 5 minutes later, no price. I just left. What else could I do? Sit and be patient like I should?
  4. This is my rant for the day. I order from WOW Delivery on a regular basis. 1/2 the time they mess up the order. I order precisely what is on their menu. I confirm with the lady the order and still they can't seem to get it right. Yesterday, I wanted to buy a 27inch Samsung Monitor for the BF. We went to Central and to Banana IT and they didn't have one but they said they could order one. They went online, filled in all the information, ordered it, took a 3k baht deposit. I waited till they confirmed everything. I then left the store. They called me back later to tell me they didn't have that model any longer and could not order it but could order another model that was 2k baht more. You mean after they ordered it, and I paid, they found out they could not take the order? And, then, they didn't want to give a refund of the deposit. It just made me want to drive to Bangkok to buy it. A few days back, I wanted to buy seats for next week's The Hobbit. I saw online they were for sale. I wanted the loveseats which online did not sale. I called the theater and asked if I could come in the next day to get them and they said yes. I went the next day and they said not for sale yet and even spoke to the manager who said not for sale. I told them I could buy online and they said I could not that it was impossible to buy the Hobbit in Pattaya. So, I went online and ordered the regular seats even though the manager told me it was not possible to do. I pretty much hate buying anything in Pattaya because the sales people usually don't know anything about the product. I do not blame them but I do wonder how they sell as much as they do when they can never answer any questions about anything. OK. Rant for the day is done!
  5. Bob, sausage is usually put on bread. What did the main character in Les Mis go to jail for? (trivia question)
  6. Jomtien, I bet you didn't know that a hog needs to be castrated for about 90 days before being killed in order for the meat to taste better? Plus, I met you have never tasted something as divine as my grandfather's moonshine!
  7. Les Mis was the first musical I ever saw that was a true professional production. I was simply amazed that something like that was on a stage. Growing up very poor and in the deep South, our community theater had a few plays each year but I think the budget was under 100 USD. So, when I saw this my first time in undergraduate school, it opened my eyes to a totally new world. I was lucky enough to get away from the South for my education as I was given a scholarship in a good east coast school. I saw Les Mis during this time and I was just floored. Since then, I have seen it over 30 times in 4 countries. I still love it and it played a very important role in me moving to NYC later in my life. I can't wait to see this movie! I hope it comes to Pattaya but if not, I'll be headed to Bangkok to see it.
  8. No, I do not. If the issue you see is the words "horrendous build up" I would suggest that it is very logical. If this was suicide, and we do not know that for sure even though the cops have stated this, I would think it is logical to know that this was a build up. I don't think suicide is something one just thinks of one minute and then does the next. If suicide is what happened here, I do think that it was a build up.
  9. FH, you bring up many good points and I agree with most of everything in your post. What I think the issue is, and it is just IMHO, is that some people are embarrassed to be seen in Sunee Plaza. It is just a taboo in that area to have a camera. I remember sitting in one beer bar about a year ago and a gay guy and his boy were taking photos of themselves and the boys they were drinking with. Another bar owner approached them and told them that was not OK and if they did not stop their camera would be taken from them. I do not see the same scenario taking places in other areas of Pattaya. In fact, photography is encouraged in many of the lady bars and ladyboy bars. Could it be that gays are still very leery to be associated with being gay? Or, is it the particular area they are in?
  10. OnFinger, when I was in NYC, I found the same thing. I found so many churches that were open and accepting and I even went to 2 churches that were all gay. I do enjoy going to church although I can't say I am a believer. I guess I am just hedging my bets. But, in cities and areas where there are enlightened people and pastors, there seems to be a logical path to church growth. Again, IMHO, church numbers are on the decline and that is inevitable. But, there are ways to change the direction if they embrace the 20th century. I am glad that churches in your area are performing the marriages. I guess I just assumed (not a good thing) that most were married in court houses.
  11. I hope to god this thread does not turn into another thread about Heygay. That, IMHO, would be the travesty!
  12. Isn't this what all churches stances are? There are a few exceptions in larger cities but growing up in the deep South and a very conservative church, they still say they love me but hate my sin. Aren't they all the same on this? (not every church but vast majority) I think OneFinger hit it and Hi to us is right. It is a step in the right direction but as I have said for years, if the churches don't change and fast, they are going to loose all their young people. Can they not see this?
  13. At 5:30 am on Saturday 8 Dec , Pattaya City Police were notified of a foreigner found dead, after falling from a room at the Condotel No. 3 Moo 10, South Pattaya, At the scene behind the condo MR. TIMOTHY BERTRAM DURELL, 63, a British man from London was discovered beyond resuscitation by emergency services, after staff on duty in the reception area heard a dull”thud” sound outside and went to investigate. In his accommodation, Police found several letter and envelopes all sealed and addressed to individuals and can only assume that these were, in fact, suicide note. They also found his mobile phone which they took to check for messages. http://www.pattaya103.com/timothy-durell-pattaya-die-balcony-fall/
  14. A very sad thing in deed. Tim was a great guy and enjoyable to talk to. He was also very good to many in the gay community in Thailand. I hope his friends and family know how kind he was to others and know that many that met him over the years will truly miss him. RIP Tim

  16. You are right my dear. I concede. Can you email me your answers and I'll check them for you and try to help you before you submit!

  18. On Friday, the SCOTUS has agree to take on 2 different cases with IMHO will be one of the most significant decisions in our lifetime. One will deal with Prop 8 from Cali and one will deal with the Defense of Marriage Act. Do you feel that these decisions will be decided the way they should be decided? http://www.sfgate.com/opinion/article/A-longer-walk-down-the-aisle-4100565.php http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/08/us/supreme-court-agrees-to-hear-two-cases-on-gay-marriage.html?hp http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-20649353
  19. I think he was referring to the McDonald and Burger King shit that you even said, God Forbid. But, to each his own. I like a bit of everything except Indian food.
  20. Is the only way to see this Netflix? I can't find it anywhere else and Netflix does not work overseas!
  21. Mormon leaders unveiled a new website Thursday encouraging church members to be more compassionate in discussions about homosexuality. Church officials insist they haven't changed the Mormon teaching that marriage is only between a man and a woman and that same-sex relationships are sinful. However, the website includes an appeal to gay and lesbian Mormons to stay in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "We must not judge anyone for the feelings they experience," church authorities wrote, saying homosexuality "should not be viewed as a disease or illness." So, at least the Mormon Church is "more compassionate" for gays. Or, is it? To me saying gays are a disease or an illness is a bit insane. But, if this a move in the right direction? IMHO, churches, all of them, including the Mormon Church is going to be loosing it parishioners if they continue to keep their stance on gays and lesbians. (along with many other nutty things). But, I guess it is supposed to be a closed society anyway right? http://www.seattlepi.com/news/us/article/Mormon-church-wants-more-compassion-for-gays-4096810.php
  22. I have been lucky enough to see several of his buildings in Brazil over the years and was always taken by them. He was Brazil's most famous architect. He died today at the age of 104. He will be missed. If you have time, take a look at the link and some of his iconic works! http://photos.denverpost.com/2012/12/06/photos-brazilian-architect-oscar-niemeyer-dies-at-the-age-of-104/#1
  23. Good seats for The Hobbit are selling out fast. It starts next week in most places in Thailand but if you want a good seat, you might want to book in advance if you want to see on opening day. In Pattaya, SFX has a good amount of seats left but the center seats are filling up fast. FYI
  24. You nasty nasty men. You are talking about the next World Dictators. You see, the Euro was a test for a Global currency and while not totally successful it is still going. In next few years, that will move beyond Europe and they will have a global currency and then we will need a world leader. Personally, I was rooting for Thaskin before but I think if Hillary and Bill share the power, they will do a great job.
  25. Vitamix and Bread Machine are strong! I do not watch the TV at all but the boys love soccer and sports. We are a very masculine family. :}
