Thailand has done a nice job with this IMHO. They are keeping the country safe. Yes, Covid insurance is required, as it 14 day quarantine. I had friends just out of quarantine today and it was OK for them. They were stuck in a hotel room that was supervised. But, I am happy they are monitoring things carefully. All it takes is one mess up.

It is a real mess to have students and teachers be required to go to school unless they can require social distancing. IMHO, it is a nightmare.

Having been to more than a few Carnivals, I hope it is cancelled. Too many people and too much contact. Unless there is an effective vaccine before then. Most places are cancelling all main events. In Thailand, Songkran was cancelled. In USA, the president wants to cancel the elections. But, for Rio, I do hope that everything on large scale is cancelled. I feel safe in Thailand. I feel the government has handled it well. I doubt we know all the details. But, I doubt we do from ANY country. Lots of myths about the virus that are disproved and will be in the future. It is dangerous for most of us at our age and if you are smart you will protect yourself in any way possible. I don't think September will be a time for visit. If you are willing to stay in quarantine hotel for 2 weeks and then enjoy a vacation, you will be fine. But, getting a flight in is hard right now.
