  1. Damn Thaiworthy you took the words right out of my mouth. I completely agree with you, and I don't smoke either.
  2. A curfew is an order to return home or to your place of residence before a certain time, so I am guessing that whoever lifted the curfew is someone in government, his teachers, his parents, or more likely whoever has been appointed his Guardian Ad Litem. Out of kindness to Hey Guy, who really does mean well, I will not speculate on why he has such a guardian..
  3. I totally agree that Casa Pascal is one of the best places to eat in Pattaya, if not Thailand. I always head for a meal there when I come to Pattaya and totally agree with your recommendation. However, in this case Pascal is missing a good bet. If he is going to import those melons from France he needs to add cucumbers and make Cavaillon soup. I must also wave the flag and say that the USA has the same Melons of equal quality, but we are not allowed to call them Cavaillon. They are just as good and way cheaper.
  4. Oh I would love this to be true. If they can find the same thing and shut down Fox News, America would be a far better place.
  5. I always thought it might just be my old age, big belly and the drool from the corner of my mouth when I look at them. I decided a long time ago to find one good one and stick with him. Of course, finding that one good one can really take a lot of tries and effort. Not that I did not enjoy looking.
  6. :lol:How much doesn't it matter to you? One inch, 2 inches, three inches, etc.....?
  7. I am sure that large of a tip did shcok her. She was just doing her job and she is obviously honest. A tip was not necessary, but it was such a good thing to do. Cool move Ronnie4you.
  8. But Fox news is fair and balanced. Seriously someone should be hung. I watched Murdoch's son last night deny everything including the payments. i must admit he is smooth and he looked believable. Considering how much your present PM owes to Murdoch will there be a real investigation? Our police going to be prosecuted?
  9. I am planning to buy one, if they ever come to Thailand. Europe has them, Hong Kong has them. Why doesn't Thailand have them yet. Don't depend on that release date. They were supposed to arrived at the end of May and then the end of June and now they are talking about mid July. Screw the IPHone, I want the Samsung S2, and I just may buy it in America before it is released here.
  10. I have tickets for the 24th. I will let all of you know what I thought of the acting.
  11. Well Dan Quayle is a hard name to remember.
  12. I am more then pleased that she won. Let us all hope that the powers that be except this mandate and let this country start solving some of its monumental p[problems. I do have the urge to dig some people who told me how mad the people of Bangkok were at the red shirts for all the disruption they caused. PT received more support in Bangkok then they did in 2001 and 2005 .
  13. More from the NY Times. This time about the nature and character of the DA's Office. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/03/nyregion/collapsing-strauss-kahn-case-adds-to-doubts-on-manhattan-prosecutor.html?_r=1&ref=todayspaper
  14. Yes, I watched it. The only card this ...... did not play was the race card. Agree very sad day.
  15. I really think you underestimate the French. If he ends up beating this charge I believe he will be a shoe-in for the Presidential nomination, and probably win. The French like nothing better then showing they are more broad minded then the Americans. As to your second question, "how would we feel if France did this to a presidential candidate?" We would be pissed off. So pissed off that we would probably elect him just to show our disdain for the French Justice system. I do not think this will hurt his chances to be the French President, even if he is found guilty of a misdemeanor. Big difference between rape and say misdemeanor assault. Personally, I am so embarrassed that this has happened in the USA. Breaks my heart.
  16. To say the least. This is not Thailand and a person who is wronged by the system does have right to bring charges and sue the heck out of the wrongdoers. I am ashamed of NYC if the charges turn out to be garbage. What a miscarriage of justice this is beginning to appear. How could they be so careless? .
  17. Somehow, I read he was doing Richard II. If he got that good of review on RIII then I am impressed. This is one of my favorite plays and one thing I have always read into this play is Richard's great self-loathing and it is a credit to Spacey that he sees that also. I just may go. Went on the Esplanade website and they are only showing events till Oct. Will try to get tickets in one month.
  18. How did you find this out? I was there and can vouch for the truth of your report. However, I heard he was banned from the bar and that he had to leave the country for awhile until things cooled off. By the way he had to stop banging the boys after only doing three. He must be getting old.
  19. Well done, great summation and very good points. I agree Thaksin should have been convicted and jailed. The truth, however, is that the very people prosecuting him all shared some of the guilt or were doing some of the same things themselves. Furthermore instead of setting up a court who decisions everyone could respect they set up a handpicked corrupt court that made his conviction seems unjustified when, in fact, it was probably justified. Always at the end I am afraid that I must return to my populist roots and respect the will of the people even when I think they are wrong. I am reminded of the elections of Nixon or David L. George when the people(parliament) elected them in spite of their less then sterling behavior. You did say, "Granted I am a non-citizen and my concerns count for nothing." However, it does count for a lot with me, but while I completely agree with your excellent summation, if the people want Thaksin, I will support them over a military cabal everyday.
  20. I think the gossip is okay as long as real names are not used, be it a personal name or a business name. Some people will know who you are talking about because they have heard the same rumors, others will not and will probably care less. I must admit that it can be tricky about using the board name. Some members are not anonymous, and their board names are better known, in some cases, as their real names. However, the member who has allowed his board name to become as well know as his real name is, in a sense, saying talk away I have nothing to hide.
  21. Errrr, I posted the wrong link to Marshall's story. Here it is http://www.zenjournalist.com/2011/06/thailands-moment-of-truth/
  22. Good for him. I just hope that the business community has enough moxie to stop the generals this time around. Another coup or riots will destroy any hope of future development in Thailand. In the meantime read if you want some great reading read Andrew Marshall's great report on Thailand that uses the Wiki leak information. He had to leave Reuters (where he worked the Thailand desk for 19 years) in order to publish this. Part 1 and 2 can be found here: http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/andrew-macgregor-marshall-why-i-decided-to-jeopardise-my-career-and-publish-secrets-2301363.html Three and four soon to be published. Fascinating
  23. A great thing. However, remember California. I do not know if NY has State Initiatives, but if they do, then the public can overturn the results. Our dear Friends, The Mormans, are more then willing to finance a repeal.
  24. I find myself agreeing both with Michael and GB inspite of the fact they almost say the opposite. I definitely would not delete the post. However, I would edit it to exclude the man's name and the name of the bar. Hey guy wanted to pass on gossip. That is okay with me until he gives us the man's name and/or information that tells us his real name.
