  1. They are building a monstrous block of flats immediately opposite Baan Souy. I believe it over 50 floors high with huge cranes on top. Apparently one fell off recently and the powers that be put a temporary stop on the work. As a guide I stay in Jomtien and you can see the top of it clearly above all else.
  2. I had to meet a friend in one of he bars and then went to a birthday party for a boy in the bar next door. I was horrified when I arrived at the complex. You could hear the “noise” half a mile away. There were in fact 3 bands and a solo singer in the Soi. The noise was relentless. Thankfully it really pissed down later and that quietened things a bit.
  3. As you should know there are no Gogo bars in Jomtien. So as I say there used to be 30+ Gogo bars in Pattaya but now there are only 8.
  4. So a total of 8 Gogo bars in Boyztown and Sunee. When I first visited in 2004 there must have been a total of something like 30+ Gogo bars in those areas…..😥
  5. Agree with the business review of Emirates. Incredible service and great aircraft so long as you stick with ONLY the A380. What was not mentioned is the free chauffeur service at each end of the flights. They come and get me from home to Gatwick Airport (London) about 60 miles. And take me back home on return. Also take you to Bangkok and back. All included in the business fare.
  6. How many thousands of times have we read to only take the money we intend to spend. 15,000…..way too much for a night out
  7. I do exactly the same with small coins below 10 baht. They go in a jar and after three months when I go home I leave them on the table as a tip for the lady who does the final clean of the condo.
  8. Haha, same for regular tourists! Never heard the expression “I should have taken half as many clothes and twice as much money”?!!

Ive been in there a lot. Peter is very friendly.
  10. https://www.thelimopattaya.com/rates/ 1600 baht from anywhere in Bangkok to anywhere in Pattaya. I have used them for many years and thoroughly recommend them. Dont be put off by the term limo! It’s just a good car.
  11. Went out with some friends for a meal this evening in Jomtien but as it’s Election Day tomorrow no alcohol.😟☹️ Anyway after they left I went looking and then remembered a home run bar a mile or two away…off the beaten track. So walked there and she was just about close. So I bought 3 large bottles to drink on a bench outside. Decided it might be difficult to walk back (!) so drank one there and am sitting on my balcony now finishing the others. Job done!! Always the same on these daft days….just need to find somewhere away from the crowds.
  12. That’s the trouble. I’d love to go to Soi 12 and see what goes on but at 2 a.m. I’m already full of beer and wouldn’t be able to cope!
  13. There was a paralysed guy living a few doors from my room who wheeled himself to the window at the end of the corridor and managed to get himself over the low railing. It was very moving to see the wheel chair in the corridor afterwards…
  14. I have to say that the Bolt Taxis are so good and very reasonable in price that I use them instead. They are very quick to arrive and unlike the Baht bus they are never full(!) they are obviously more comfortable and if I’m paying for three people not that much more expensive. From Jomtien to Boyztown it is usually 68 baht. (I get a discount for some reason). And finally you are unlikely to be pickpocketed.
  15. Standing on the rear platform is illegal. Yet another law rarely enforced. TIT ….
