Having visited Pattaya for 8 months at the same time of year(low season) over the last three years this low season seems no different from the previous years. Yes, some bars have closed but some deserve it. Customer value is the name of the game nowadays. If you want a busy place try visiting NAB for a few hours over the weekend. Absolutely packed out last night

Luvthai, Yeh I've tried it in London....same pain level as waxing. I myself found no real benfefit over waxing.

Hi Guys, I'm due to arrive back in Pattaya for 2/3 months. Any recommendations on a high quality 1/2 bed condo? GT...I think I remember reading you stayed in VT 6? How was it? Given the low visitor numbers are there any bargains around right now?

Guys, Im sure this has been asked many times before. Anyone care to elaborate on a fair amount to send to a Thai guy every month? I'm interested as to what viewpoint you have on the subject??

Do you mind if I date your boyfriend when you go away?

Guys, Based on the original posters question anyone who would be so brazen does not deserve to be called a friend. In the circumstances his actions were obnoxious. I'm surprised GT did not lose it and give him a good slapping -
GB, I agree. I realise I have not explained the whole story. My guy was guaranteed(apparently) to be out of it last year when he was 21. The military came back for him a year later. That's one of the reasons why I decided to go and support him. Just another day in Thailand and a nice tidy 100k profit.

Matt, He paid his 30,000 one year ago to excuse himself :-) He was called back home 2 months ago by the fixer guy in his home town.It would seem that the army is short on recruits this year and he had to take part. He got 20,000 back from the fixer instead of his 30,000. This happened to 10 others who had paid a year ago to excuse themselves.

GB, As I was the token farang I was given pride of place at the front of the proceedings. The senior Army guys were very welcoming and made sure I was at my guys side when he did the deed. Embarrasing slightly for me but they all thought it was a hoot. The atmosphere was great even when the guys took the red ball! Some very dissapointed faces but they all took it in their stride. Some of the guys were clearly delighted to their chance to sign up. As they were all from the same city(Burriram) most of the guys seemed to know each other, and there were a number of them going to the same Army bases together. Like I said a truly memorable experience for me.

I will keep my reply brief. My experience started a day earlier going to the temple to watch my guy have any bad luck washed away by the local monks before going to City Hall at 7am the next day for the lottery draw. Imagine 800 guys 21 yo guys in one place with all their families. Was certainly a busy place. Being the only farang was just a tad daunting! The proceedings started with the Army chief chatting away in Thai to the audience. The next thing I knew my guy stood up with one other lad and I had no clue what was going on....apart from lots of whistles from the 800 guys sat down ready to take the draw. My guy then goes to the front and calls out my name and proceeds to in English saying he needs to talk to me at the stage about something important. Needless to say I walked through the crowd being shouted and whistled at by the whole audience! Turns out that he decided to stand up and admit he was gay along with the other guy. Seemingly, this would have excluded him from taking part in the draw but would also have entailed a visit to the military hospital in BKK to check out his mental health. After taking my bow in front of around 1500 people I advised him to take the draw and stop messing about..be a man! I was then ordered to sit at the front and watch the draw take place by the mean looking Army guys! Who was I to argue?? What an experience and I was made to feel so welcome...can't really imagine that happening anywhere else in the world....My guy was around 580th out of 800 to take the draw. He got a black ball so all turned out ok...

Hi Guys, I've just returned from a short trip to Thailand. My Thai guy had to attend his home town for the red/black ball lottery draw. Red ball you go black ball you don't. I wanted to show my support for him and just turned up the day before he was due to attend as a surprise. I have to say it was truly memorable experience. Anyone else done this before?

GT, Yeh it's a great place...one tip for the guys here would be pick a place away from the back wall. If you don't you won't hear your movie because of the noise from the bowling place next door.

Atri, Have you tried The Porch cinema inside the same complex? I agree the First Class cinema is good value, but the Porch is open air with great views if the beach and has large round beds to share with your friend. Same price drinks included....check it out it's great. Its right next to the entrance for bowling.

Agreed with most replies. There are some very good looking guys in some bars. I've got to know a couple of guys really well. Both work in Boyztown and both are consistently busy. Still quite a lot of tourists who spend well in the bars. My friend works in Copa( I hope its ok to mention the bar name GB) and has been really busy the last 5 months. Seems most tourists tend to take him for the full one or two weeks and pay really well. So I guess some of the more well known places will always survive....

What is your mode of transportation in Pattaya?
lexusgs replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
I was in Pattaya 3 weeks ago. Rented a new Honda PCX (I think?) bike. Great runabout. Problem was you can start the engine with a twist on the handle as you dont need a key! I ended up riding into the side of a pick up in front the Police Box in Jomtien Not a good experience and my wallet is quite a bit lighter! Won't stop trying again though.... -
This sounds like a great idea. I' a bit of a lurker on this board. Have been in Pattaya now for 5 months on and off. Would be great to meet you guys face to face as soon as possible. Why don't you ask one of the bars to do a private party for one night? I'd chip in no problem. Or if you want to get really daring rent out the VIP section in NAB club. That would be an interesting experience

I took a quick look in Sundance last night along with Happy Boys. Happy Boys looked pretty dead with only a few boys. I was chatting to a guy online who mentioned a bar called Cat's Place. I took a chance and there were around 20 guys in there. Only 2 or 3 hotties though

GB, Am I correct in assumeing you're driving around these places? I've tried searching the older threads as you suggested but nothing came up. Things seem pretty quiet in Pattaya right now so may head up to BKK this weekend.

Hi GT I felt compelled to reply to your post regarding your BF's Mum. I have recent experience with Thai women being sent overseas especially to my last place of work in a couple of countries in Africa. My advice is make sure she does not go! What looks like an opportunity invairably turns out to be a scam. I'm from the UK(though have been in Pattaya for around 6months) and know all too well that Prague in the Czech Rebublic is the centre of vice and all things evil in Europe! Massage and Prague (just google it!) only mean one thing so make sure she stays put mate. Hope this helps.
