I think this is a great thread with much useful advice from several (all). Personally I have found that simply trying to speak and understand others will go a long way to getting whatever it is that you want. February 23, 201412 yr glad you had another great experience, Trzinko. I was wondering. You mentioned 300R was your offer for the overnight. Was that amount your suggestion or his? On my last trip to Rio back in June of 2012, my overnights were about half that amount. I was wondering if that is the going rate now, or if it was an amount you offered first.. Compared to rates here in the US, it is still wonderfully cheap. But is that the going rate in Rio now for an overnight? for anyone unfamiliar with the current exchange rate, 300R =$127.44 USD
February 23, 201412 yr Author Active Members the amount was my suggestion, and i am aware that i am guilty of creating inflation in brazil. i would probably be able to do make it cheaper, but it was my last night in rio, the guy was great..... i didn't want to be a sissy. i don't have a lot of experience with overnights. i had guys in my appartment for an hour. that was mostly for a hundred. overnight is probably possible for 200 with a nice guy. this is my estimate.
February 23, 201412 yr it is still a bargain compared to most other places.. If I remember correctly, I ended up paying Diogo around 150 or 175 Reais for an overnight, although it also included dinner, breakfast, etc..
