I think most old timers in Santo Domingo have their favorite places to stay that are friendly, allow guests and are reasonably priced and safe. I thought we might create a place new people could search. I have frequently mentioned the Palacio on Duarte. It can be pricey if you took search for a good rate. There is a new place calle 454 suites, bookable on Airbnb, that is a block from Pacos and right on Independencia ( next to Dumbos ) has anyone been there, have any experiences.?

I won't repeat the listings in past threads but can add one, not previously mentioned, that I tried out for a few days and allowed short-term guests no surcharge. 

Hodelpa Colonial on Isabel La Católica running a few steps north from El Conde east end (Parque Colón).

Architecturally blah. 

I switched to a quieter room northside overlooking a small enclosed alley but a decent historical view as well. They agreed to discount my original payment on the higher price option. Those streetside units had small terraces with unremarkable views and extensive din right under your nose. 

Good breakfast. Gym. No pool.
