Paid vs “free”

Featured Replies

I see a lot of posts referencing “free” sex on Grindr or similar when in major sex tourism destinations

Is the sex really free ?  Or do you not count the time it took to make it happen ?  And then having it disappointing or having to compromise ?  Seems like the cost is high unless some magic combination happens every so often ?

maybe its just me - but paid keeps it transactional & I get exactly ( or very very close) what I want with minimum hassle/time wasted.  And once there’s someone I know performs 100% each & every time, then no time wasted whatsoever.  That’s the main reason I like the saunas - efficiency & satisfaction.  Clear communication with potential providers keeps my satisfaction ratios very high ;)  they know exactly what to expect

maybe I’m missing something ?  I no longer need the head game if someone finds me attractive or not.  I could care less if they deliver as advertised.

What costs more, sex for free or sex for money?

Sex for free always costs more....you pay for meals, pay with your heart and emotions, gifts, time that you can't spend fucking around with someone else (life is short), etc....

Here's Charlie Sheen's take:
Sheen was being sentenced for using a prostitute, the judge asked him why a man like him would have to pay for sex. And Sheen reportedly replied: “I don’t pay them for sex. I pay them to leave.”

Thanks @floridarob I’ve used that line but I never knew its origin.

I remain mystified why guys travel to well known sex tourism destinations (Brazil) at significant expense -  then choose to hunt on Grindr (and similar) when there are saunas, and several reputable online resources (GarotoComLocal, VivaLocal & OnlyFans) at a very low cost.
 200 reias = $42.

WTF ?

totlaly agree that payment is partially to leave when asked.  safety & reasonable expectations are also in the mix when a paid transaction.

Be it Rio or Peoria or Bangkok, I love using Grindr when on travel.  Is it better/worse than the saunas or Vivalocal, etc. when that too is available?  No, it’s a different experience all together that can be amazing or horrible.

During my first trip to Rio, I met a 23 year old on Grindr that wanted help with English and, um, to bottom for somebody that is about 15 years older than him.  At the time, honestly, I expected that he would try and hit me up for money at some point but that never happened.  Instead, I saw him a few more times on subsequent trips and on my most recent trip he introduced me to his new boyfriend.  The three of us all went out for drinks and, yes, we kept our clothes on but it was still a good time.  He is also kind enough to help me with my Portuguese now too when I have a question.

Making actual connections with fellow human beings is not a bad thing or at least that is what is right for me sometimes.

That’s a good answer and makes sense as you explain it.

My question was based on comments re: paying for sex and “getting it for free”, as in saving money, not to experience a human connection.

Like many on here, I’m partnered and the apps frequently lead to different expectations even when my relationship status and NSA is throughly explained. And with that in mind, the paid transaction is much easier & less complicated.  A human connection still happens, just more transparency, less confusion and as many have noted, a definite end time.  And I see many of the same guys multiple times w some regulars. Some for years - yet we both understand the boundaries.

For me, the hookup apps are also a safety issue as it appears no way to vet guys. In hiring, i typically hire guys that are either well-reviewed through a specific site or have an active social media presence with significant followers.  I never hire unknown people to meet me anywhere - the logic is I could always track them down worst case scenario & they know it.  The only exception is a rentboy sauna situation, where the assumption is the house has done the basic vetting and almost no danger on-premises.
