"New York court throws out $527 million penalty in Trump civil fraud case" A New York appellate court threw out the half-billion-dollar penalty in the civil fraud case against President Trump and others on Thursday, ruling that the fine was "excessive." One of the justices on the Appellate Division, First Judicial Department wrote that the penalty, known as a disgorgement, against Mr. Trump, two of his sons and other executives and their company was "an excessive fine barred by the Eighth Amendment." In February 2024, a New York judge ordered Mr. Trump and his codefendants to pay the state nearly $364 million in "ill-gotten gains" and millions more in interest dating back years, a total that has since ballooned to about $527 million. Its all about repetition and acceptance.... and it has mostly worked for everything Trump has undertaken. Keep repeating it, people get used to hearing it, it becomes a normal thing and they accept it..... And in the last 2 few days, Trump has "broken his cherry" on Dictatorship, so we will be hearing a lot more of it going forward. And the one thing we know about dictators, is that they control everything and can do anything, and sadly we are seeing that as all our institutions fall to Trump, and the last bastion, the courts, are barely hanging on.....I have no doubt in due course, Trump will CONTROL the courts too.
