Taddtx Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Is there any issue taking a Grindr, 9 Monster or rentboy up to you room and past the front desk in most hotel. In general and at the APA Hotel Shinjuku Gyoemmae? Quote
joizy Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I stayed at the APA Hotel Ginza and there was a sign at the elevator saying only guests are permitted in guest rooms. But the way it is set up, the front desk was to the side of the elevators, so they didn’t see who went up. Also, they didn’t know if the person who was getting on the elevator with me was a guest or not. I met them outside, because you need a key card to board the elevator. I stayed at APA Gyoenmae in 2018 and from what I remember it was a similar set up - the elevators are away from the front desk. I’d just say try not to be too obvious. I’m at the Tokyu Stay in Nishishinjuku now and have had several guys come up to my room. Usually there is no one at the front desk, but when someone is there, they don’t seem to notice or care. Again, as long as you’re being discreet, I don’t think it’s a problem at these types of hotels. Some of the more expensive hotels might have issues because of “respectability” but I think you’re okay at the APA. If it is an issue, check out a Love Hotel - they’re everywhere in Shinjuku and cheap - about 3,000 yen for a few hours. Quote
a-447 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I often stay at APA hotels in Ueno. As stated above, there is a sign next to the elevators telling you that visitors are not permitted in your room and must be entertained in the lobby. However, the lobbies seem to be busy most of the time so nobody has time to check. Also, it's better if you and your friend get into a crowded lift, as you friend can hide among everyone. All the hotels I've stayed at in Japan have the same no-visitor rule. But there are ways around it. Quote
Daniel94 Posted October 23 Posted October 23 How about Airbnb ? I will stay in an Airbnb in Shinjuku . which is better to get guest to my room , hotel or Airbnb ? Quote
NoNameFanBoy Posted October 31 Posted October 31 I didn't have any issues with a hotel or Airbnb. It was just I felt like we could be really be crazy loud because how close we are to other people. I will say you can get loud in the private rooms they offer. Quote

I didn't have any issues in the two Airbnbs I stayed in on my last trip, but from what I recall, they do have "no guest" policies. I think I passed over a few because they threatened fines or eviction if the policy was violated, so read the rules carefully. I think they are probably especially vigilant around Kabukicho and Shin-Okubo areas. Most of the agencies have a room you can use for a nominal fee. NoNameFanBoy 1 Quote
