from my experience many hotels are releasing their rooms to different platforms and while on one website you may be out of luck, of another one or hotel own website rooms my be still available. Certainly it was my experience with certain hotel in Madrid last month, no luck on Agoda but I got what I wanted on booking.com few minutes later.

Not to mention price difference  sometimes on the same site. Just before covid I tried  to co-ordinate lodging with one of our members in Asia.  We both were looking at Agoda and price he got for the same room in the same hotel for the same dates was quite lower to a 40 vs. 50$ tune.

In short it pays to do some shopping before committing, on another hand if one sees  acceptable price for  desired hotel my advice would be just grab and run.

I went directly through the hotel at Agate. They were very punctual and professional. So far so good!

I got a room at Agate for the first week of November but they were largely full already. I got lucky.

I was looking to book The Rabbit Resort because some forum members recommended it and it looks very good. Located directly at the gay beach, walking distance from Jomtien complex and the resort set up is nice. The pictures really look like you're staying inside a tropical garden. But I found out the good old Agate is around 1/3rd from the price of Rabbit Resort, so I decided to stick to my old habit and book Agate again. If the price difference would have been smaller, I probably would have booked Rabbit to try something new this time. But I'm Dutch and we are known for being "cheap Charlies". LOL

Agate's own website did not show any availability during November. But by sending an e-mail directly to the hotel I could still make a reservation.

Same experience. They reply quick and are very clear in their answers.

it's smart decision in more than one way. I noticed that more luxurious room is , less inclined I'm to go out.

On my return from last Thai  trip I stopped in Madrid. My room was even smaller than my bathroom  - just bed & chair. Result - I spent  all my time sightseeing ,including trip to Toledo, now only 31 minutes by fast train.
