Members unicorn Posted yesterday at 12:27 AM Members Posted yesterday at 12:27 AM I saw this commercial on TV about companies which actually go and clean, "disinfect," "deodorize," and "sanitize" trash bins after one's regular trash collection every week. It seems rather crazy to me. Obviously, there's no way to "disinfect" a trash bin, and, even if there were, you're just going to put in rotten food, dog doo-doo bags, etc., in them on the next day or two. Yet there are obviously enough people who have such "cleanliness" concerns to keep these places in business. Do any of you worry about "sanitizing" trash bins? https://freshbinsla.com/ Quote
jimmie50 Posted yesterday at 01:59 AM Posted yesterday at 01:59 AM I personally have never given it a thought or really care about it. Guess their entrepreneurship should be applauded, but not a service I would ever pay for. Quote

Members Thomas_88 Posted yesterday at 03:15 PM Members Posted yesterday at 03:15 PM Yes, I do care because when it starts to stink, you can smell it from far, I don't clean them but put large trash bags in it. Many years ago I heard a the city cleaned the trash bins, I can't find on the site they still do it. Quote
Mavica Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I live in Florida, USA. There is a business that will come to your home and wash/disinfect your residential trash bin ... the type people put at the end of their driveway on collection day. A specially outfitted pick-up truck goes to homes where the owner calls, washes and applies a sanitizing rinse in a specially designed container of sorts. It's done all over the place here where it's hot and humid much of the year. I live in a 3-story condominium building where trash is placed in large dumpsters emptied twice weekly. Every so often I wash-out the dumpsters and toss in some bleach, to rinse the smell, eliminate maggots, dog shit that wasn't properly disposed, deter rodents, etc. Again, I live where it's hot and humid and if we don't do this the smell can get pretty bad. Not many people toss unbagged trash into any of the receptacles, but there is fluid leaking and sometimes ... improperly tied bags. vinapu 1 Quote

Maybe things are different in places where it's humid, rather than here in Los Angeles, where it's quite dry. So how often do you get your trash bins cleaned? Quote
