I mean, being lazy and having room service might sounds nice, but there is a list of things that can go wrong. Even none pay dates via Grindr etc. should not be able to find you. For me, the best place to meet is in a mall or any public place where you can sit and have a drink. Photoshop is real, but I had boys using pictures of other people/friends. In Vietnam, one came to my house and when I confronted him with it, he said "because my friend is cute and I am not." That was the last time I met anyone where I stay. One of my friends usually meets guys in a park during the day time. When they are not his type (read ugly to him) he tells them that they are to young 😂 If you don't like them and it is a pay date, you can give them some taxi money. But don't Wimp out if they lie to you. Don't reward that behaviour by giving them money. So what is the Scoop? vinapu and floridarob 1 1 Quote

PeterRS Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Although partnered in Bangkok, on my now infrequent trips overseas I am let off the leash, as it were. In Taipei there are very few money boys on the apps and so all my encounters there tend to be with randy Taiwanese just looking for a westerner - age virtually irrelevant. I have been told several times that there is a shortage of westerners in Taipei which is great for visiting western guys. When we first meet, generally it will be in a coffee shop or hotel bar. I still believe chemistry is important when it comes to sex and sizing someone up - in addition to letting them feel comfortable with me - is important. The only country I will happily give out my hotel and room number is in Japan where I have never once had any problem whatever over many decades. Ruthrieston 1 Quote
a-447 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I think it's very important to 'size someone up ' before going ahead. I love sizing them up in a dark corner of the bar; that way I know what I'm getting - I am always willing to pay be the inch! 😂 It also enables me to check for silicone or mooks. bkkmfj2648 and vinapu 2 Quote

The sauna scene is great and there are some cuties online. But when I stayed for 3 months in 2018, I managed to get 3 boys to my room. Compare that to Myanmar in 2018, 8 boys in 7 days. I avoid the time and expense of meeting someone at a cafe. Some I meet in front of my hotel or apartment, some come directly to my room. I had a few disappointments looks-wise. The only issue ever was a boy who had my hotel and room number, but was late and no communication. I wrote it off as "no show" and went to bed, only to be awaken by a knock on door a while later, let's say two hours after our date, by the boy! Another time I had a date (boy A had hotel and room number), and again late. I wrote it off as "no show" and got someone else B. While I was busy with B, A could have come knocking on my door, but he didn't. That's two cases that went wrong, without much damage. Now image the time and money wasted I had met everyone, let's assume 500, at a cafe! For me very clearly in favor of having the boy come directly to my place. vinapu and tm_nyc 2 Quote

You base your experience on three months on an island which is economically mightily superior to Myanmar? I know you were studying Mandarin and we enjoyed a couple of pizzas there together. But with respect I have been visiting since 1986 and annually since 1990 for several weeks a year. I have also noticed a distinct trend that there appears to be a preference for older westerners. Frankly comparing Taiwan with Myanmar in terms of attracting boys to your room is no comparison whatever. iendo 1 Quote

Personally I have no experience in Taiwan but I know that my friend who is blond and in his late 50s has tons of boys in there. I know he never pays, not even in Thailand. I've been all over the world with him and am still amazed how many boys he can get and how these boys often fall in love with him. It is CRAZY! And if you wonder how he doesn't pay in Thailand, he doesn't meet Thais anymore since a couple of years. He gets his boys from Grindr and DJ station and they are from all over, never from Thailand. @ChristianPFC I was wondering if there were many boys in Taiwanese gay scene that fell into the category that you like? I know the type of boys you post on your blog and of course the two times that we have met in Pattaya and Bangkok also gave me some clues. Quote

I find Myanmar, Thai, Lao, Khmer boys more attractive, but I could fulfill my sexual desires in Taiwan if I could get those I like. The problem is that Taiwanese gay guys have little to no interest in me. I have no idea why. Apart from that, Taiwan is a great country to visit. I calculate (Boys in my room) / (unit of time) to decide where to go for a gay holiday. I know you have good luck in Taiwan, I know of others who have good luck, but for me, it doesn't work out. For gay encounters with locals, I go elsewhere. For me, there is a general trend: Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Lao works well. Vietnam so-so. China, Hong Kong, Taiwan poor. tm_nyc, PeterRS, iendo and 2 others 5 Quote
