Palermo - tips?

I’m heading to Palermo tomorrow for a few days. Anyone been? Any tips?

i’ve had a few guys hit me up already on Grindr and Sniffies but I’ve learned you cannot always depend on advance contacts.

Also any other places in Sicily worth a visit. I’m looking at Catania for a few days possibly.

I had a great time in Palermo around three years ago. I think i spend 5 days there. I found the city to be noisy, smelly and crowded, but I still loved it. For a quieter time I reccomend a day trip to Cefalu. There is a gorgeous Norman cathedral there and a crowded (I was there in June) beach. I had 4 hook ups through Grindr and a few hours of fun in the small sauna. I also got catfished twice. More or less the same way both times. Someone pretending to be younger would chat with me, we would agree on meeting and when I arrived to where we were supposed to meet , I was blocked and the next minute someone older very close by would contact me.

No help, sorry. The nearest I got to Palermo was Catania about 200 kms away. Long time ago met a delightful guy when I was visiting the wonderful Roman amphitheatre. We started chatting (thankfully he spoke some English and was looking for company) and ended up having a wonderful time. Pure luck! Great view of Mt. Etna against the evening sun.

Great city - plenty of eye candy on the streets, several gay bars north of Teatro Massimo, excellent food. The trip to Cefalu was mentioned, easy half-day trip. Another very impressive cathedral is up in the mountains just outside Palermo in Monreale. In Palermo, the golden chapel is really worth visiting. Elsewhere in Palermo, excellent food is abound everywhere, street parties late into the night, $5 takeaway negronis, great city.

Catania is a different vibe and quite a distance from Palermo. Next to Catania there are great small towns of Syracuse and Noto. Obviously, there's Taormina and the whole White Lotus crowd doing the pilgrimage to what they saw in season 2 which was filmed there.
