Cine Lido

Decided to try the Cine Lido again tonight even though I really didn’t have that much fun the last two times I went. I’m glad I went. Not because I had more fun. It started raining as soon as I set out to go there, so the place was dead, so I ended up not staying long. It was still drizzling when I left, and I ordered an Uber which took a very long time to arrive. While I was waiting in the lobby, I noticed a sign on the door with the hours and when I got closer to check it out, it said they open at 5 pm! No wonder it’s been so dead when I get there at 6:30.

Back in the old days when I used to go, I’d go right when they opened. There was a huge rush. Guys went in, got off, and left. I thought they opened at 6 or 6:30, and after about an hour or so, it was just a few stragglers. No more people arrived, just the ones who were not satisfied were left.

So that may explain why it’s been so dead. I am arriving an hour and a half after they open.

I will try going one of these days at 5 so that I can report back.

If you plan on going, the hours seem to be 5-10 pm. During the day, there is a shoe vendor outside (it’s actually an interesting neighborhood during the day - great place for cheap souvenirs and close to Chinatown). Entry is 200 pesos. The cashier will slip a ticket into the edge of her little window. Take the ticket, give it to the guy inside. They seem to use the same tickets over and over again. I could feel years of wear on the ticket I got tonight

It’s a huge cavernous space. Guys stand along the back wall, but the best place for action is either on the right or left side where the theater opens up. Be careful walking around the middle part because there are a lot of broken seats you can trip over.

Some guys will go all the way down to the front, but usually it means they want to be left alone.

It hasn’t been too hot at this time of year, but when I came in the summer, it was like a sauna. You can pick up a bottle of water at the little Chinese place on the corner, or go there for some fried rice and fried chicken afterwards.

Has anyone been recently? I’m wondering if my guess about going at 5 is correct. Is it better then?

I hope you appreciate that I am doing research for you guys. 

I returned to the Cine Lido this evening at 5 p.m. I arrived about 5:10. The shoe “store” was gone and the area clear. The metal gate was up. The doors were closed (and locked) with signs on both doors that said “Lunes a Domingo 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.” - okay, I guess that was in theory, because it was after 5 p.m. I had to count on my fingers to see if Lunes a Domingo somehow skipped Saturday, but no, it was all 7 days…

Sigh…

I walked towards Chinatown and then realized I was actually hungry, so I walked back in the other direction to the Chinese place on the corner. They have the best fried chicken. I got a small fried rice, a chicken wing and a water for 200 pesos. Can’t beat it. Real local scene. I enjoyed listening to the merengue and watching people come and go.

At about 5:45, I walked back towards the theater. It was open. So I don’t know what the hell time it opens. Sometime after 5 and before 6. I guess it depends on their mood.

I went in and it was pretty empty.

No luck finding anyone to play with.

More guys arrived.

A few hooked up, but it seemed bottom heavy. 

Guys were chatting. I guess they were regulars.

I noticed one guy standing in the aisle. What was his deal? Another older guy went up and grabbed his crotch and was brushed away. But he seemed to be looking at me. I went and sat next to him. I sat behind him. The other guy who had grabbed him earlier returned. Tried again and was brushed away. So then I started feeling his ass. He didn’t move. Ok, now I understood. He was a bottom. I pulled his sweats down and played with his ass a little. Stood up behind him and figured if I played with his ass, maybe he’d let me play with his dick again. He reached back and felt my dick. Then he pulled his sweatpants up.

He was the only guy I was interested in, so I decided to call it quits, got an Uber and returned to my hotel.

So the verdict? 

The Cine Lido is not what it used to be. I went there first in 2007 before Grindr. I am surprised it has survived this long, but I feel like it’s now faded glory.

Check it out if you want. Go around 5:45, it’s 200 pesos. If you like to get sucked, you’ll find plenty of guys who are interested. If you’re younger and in shape, you might luck out, but honestly, other than this one guy, I did not see anyone tonight who came close to what I used to see there before Grindr.

A side note: I changed my Grindr profile and said I would be there. One guy who had been messaging me said he wanted to go there, but didn’t know where it was. So there is hope. Maybe you meet someone you want to play with and don’t have a place. Go to Cine Lido - 200 pesos. It’s like a sex club in a movie theater. You might draw a crowd, but that can also be hot.

I’m now enjoying a rum and chocolate experience in my hotel room. Almost as good as a big Dominican dick.
