If there's been a better time for China to invade Taiwan, I can't think of it. Trump is currently mismanaging two invasions, threatening several more, and begging for help to keep oil flowing from the Middle East. No one on TeamTrump seems to have a clue how to manage a war or defend an ally. Trump is trying to finagle China into defending the Strait of Hormuz and China isn't taking the bait. It wouldn't surprise me if China is working to get safe passage from Iran, rather than create an enemy. Not so long ago, the US was correctly stating that China invading Taiwan would be considered a war crime but we have now ceded our claim to the moral high ground. Trump is scheduled to visit China at the end of March, but the trip has been 'postponed'.
