According to the BBC, one wildfire is only 9 miles away from the south of Bordeaux. 220,000 people have already been evacuated. And the temperature is predicted to rise in the next few days. Fires advancing on Madrid are "active and uncontrolled" although more slowly than in recent days. So far 105,000 have been evacuated in the country. Members unicorn Posted July 28 Members Posted July 28 Be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice. Have your passports, essential documents, clothes, pet stuff ready to go. Obviously, evacuate when told. I've thought about installing fire suppression systems, but strangely enough they don't lower fire insurance rates, and they're quite expensive. In the meantime, I cut down the trees which were too near my house, and suppress/cut back weeds and branches. I have a "defensible space." PeterRS2 1 Quote

I believe it is recommended that these should now include- - A light preferably waterproof backpack - One change of clothes - Bottled water and dried foods - Basic tools - First aid kit - Your essential papers, cash and documents - Communication devices unicorn 1 Quote
Members Pete1111 Posted July 29 Members Posted July 29 My buddy in Altadena had little time to evacuate. The wind blew so hard trees came down. There was no time to prepare. He grabbed some irreplaceable items and left. In the morning, nothing was left of the house but a charred foundation. Was a lovely little home. PeterRS2 and unicorn 2 Quote
