Yes the show is good. The boys put on a great performance with their dancing, wearing only tight white shorts, usually attracting a good audience. Possibly the top attraction in the Complex. I’ve tried a couple of times to off a boy dancer without success

They are a dance troupe, possibly the only fem twink dance troupe working in the nightlife industry and their style and presentation is quite unique. I wouldn't assume that everyone working in that environment is a sex worker. Some of them are in relationships with their contemporaries as are many others within the complex and this is perfectly normal.

I particularly like their dancing in traditional dress. I remember that, for a very short time, Throb had this on its menu. Too rare, in my view....I find it charming.

By the way, I note how hard the guys work. I see them arriving at around 1600 to prepare.  As MauRICE says, I wouldn't assume that that  they are looking for customers.

I can confirm what mauRICE wrote above. 

You may remember, I volunteered to the Supertown bowling organizers to be the designated farang sponsor of the Sunee Bar so that they could participate in the Jomtien Pride Bowling competition.

Previously to the actual competition date I met with the team several times over at the bowling alley for our team practice sessions and also over at their bar.  What I learned about the inner workings of the Sunee Bar were very illuminating and probably apply to many of the other entities in the Jomtien Complex aka Supertown:

• There are 4 types of "staff" at the Sunee Bar:
  1. The owner(s) - in this case I believe that it is now 1 person, as there was recently a big divestiture of the many bars that Charlie Entertainment  previously owned in Supertown, of which Sunee Bar was one of them.  Some of the larger bars in Supertown have multiple owners.
  2. Dance troupe - these are the dancers and I believe that they are on the payroll with supplements to their earnings that are made when the tip box is passed around to the customers at the end of their 1 hour show segments.
  3. Wait staff / host boys - I believe that these guys are also on the payroll with supplements to their earnings that are earned either by buying them drinks when you request that they sit with you and then the tips that are collected when the check-bin is asked for.
  4. Freelance - these are the guys who do not have a contract with the bar and are not on the payroll and their complete income is sourced from when the customer buys them a drink, tips, and if they are amenable to being offed by the customer.

Now, having said all of that, there are exceptions to what I wrote above:

• Rarely, some of the dance troupe can be offed - but it is often at a very high price and often these guys will decline the offer as they are not interested and/or they are in a relationship with one of their contemporaries.  Rumor says that the star of the dance troupe commands 5k for an off and rarely says yes.
• Wait staff / host boys - my bowling team was made up from this segment of the staff.  Some of them were quite popular and had their farang regulars and I had to make them commit to the team to not accept an off on the day of the Jomtien Pride Bowling competition, or on either of the 2 afternoons that were designated for our practice sessions.  I told them that if their farang would insist to off them that they were to bring the farang to the bowling practice and/or competition - which never had to be put to the test.
• I intentionally refrained from recruiting from the freelancers to participate in the Sunee Bar bowling team because their earnings are too entangled with getting an off that I felt it would be too risky for them to make a proper commitment to the responsibilities required to be a bowling team member.

Having professional dancers (or at least dance students) give shows in go-go bars may be new in Pattaya but not in Thailand. Back in 2001 X-Treme bar in Soi Twilight had a group of around 8 young dancers who did 'proper' dance numbers in the middle of the evenings. The owner of X-treme had been involved in the Church of England in some capacity. I recall he had a very handsome student boyfriend who would sometimes come and do his homework (the university type 🤪) in the bar.

X-treme did not last long. When it closed, the dance troupe moved over to the German's ground floor bar across the soi. Even that was not a success and he hived them off to Roxy in Soi 4, the successor to Rome Club. No idea what happened thereafter.

The dancing boys were basically not offable. But a couple of regular farang customers did a lot of chatting up with two of them and for a short time they became partners with no cash fees involved.

I'm not surprised to learn That X-treme's dancers were professionals; their routines were complicated and no doubt exacting to learn.  I recall feeling rather sad that they didn't attract better audiences.

I used to go with a friend virtually every Sunday for a couple of hours. The dancers were great guys and very friendly - although that is as far as most of them were prepared to go! We did throw a party for them at Dick's when one had a birthday.

The problem as we saw it was too often there was an eternity between the numbers. When you have a good dancing show, it has to go with a degree of pizzazz. Instead of all eight dancers in each element of the show, each then having to retire to change into a different costume, we thought the owner would have been better served with some numbers being just for 3 or 4 dancers. Sometimes there were gaps of 5 minutes which was way too long and that could have been one reason for the lack of attendance. Full marks to the manager for trying something different, but he really did need someone professional or semi-pro to choreograph the shows.
