From the Nation Products with high export potential are being displayed at Vietnamese Goods and Tourism Week in Thailand, which opened on August 22 in Bangkok. This is the third year in a row the week has been organised in the city as a promotion for both retail items and tourism. Anyone spent much time in Vietnam lately? I spent a little over a week in Hanoi and then central VN about a decade ago and didn't love it. I am considering giving HCMC a try early next year. The Blued app if full of gorgeous Vietnamese guys doing their thing which has really piqued my interest. :-) Or should I just stay in Thailand and meet the Vietnamese boys there instead?

My partner and I have booked our flights for a holiday in Viet Nam next April flying into Hanoi and out of Da Nang. I am planning to hire a tour guide in Hanoi for one day and perhaps one evening. Has any member used a guide they would recommend in Hanoi (gay or straight)? I noticed Moses/Siam Roads have a guide in Hanoi called Lee but there is only one comment on the website

Having only been to Hanoi, I am thinking of making a leisurely 7 - 10 trip to other parts of Vietnam. Maybe later this year. I'm more interested in seeing the country than exploring the gay scene, and so Ho Chi Minh will probably not be on the itinerary. Da Nang, Hoi An and Hue definitely are, and depending on the time of year, Halong Bay which I missed last time. Do other readers have some more 'must see' suggestions?

I thought let's have a look here because I am planning my first Vietnam trip, but looking at the non-acitivity here I think I can assume Vietnam is not the place to go for boys? I know they haven't the show and gogo bars which we can see in Pattaya and Bangkok, but how is it app wise? Many available cute twinks via the apps? I was planning Ho Chi Minh City.

Going to Hanoi was an excellent experience. The old quarter is lively and it is a lot of fun to just walk around in it. To say that the people are nice and really helpful is not enough. They are, actually, much nicer and helpful than Thai people. If you stop on a street looking at a map, at least one person will usually walk up to help you find your way to you destination. The food is very good though not as cheap as Thai street food, but it is excellent and different. Be sure to try the Pho and Bun Cha. One small restaurant named Bun Cha serves the best bun cha in Hanoi. Both filling and fun to eat since they are so different from Thai food. There are som…

Despite being a highly conservative society in which homosexuality is a taboo subject, Vietnam has shown that it is becoming increasingly tolerant to the LGBT community, even going so far as to consider adopting a gay marriage law. Another step forward was taken at the week-end with the country’s second Gay Pride Parade. Some 200 young activists waved rainbow flags and biked through Hanoi last Sunday. Many raised eyebrows when it was announced some months ago that Vietnam was studying the issue of gay marriage. Now, though, the country’s health ministry has reportedly said “it believes same-sex marriage to be a human right and should be allowed by the state.” The declaration is to be found in the English-language version of the country’s largest circulation newspaper Troi Tre. I had a 'senior moment' when typing the heading. Apart from the spelling mistake, it should read HANOI! (Ed. is there no way to alter mistakes made in headings?) Just a month after Vietnam’s Justice Ministry announced it was setting up a consultative committee to review the issue of gay marriage in the country, Vietnam’s first Gay Pride event takes place in Hanoi this coming week-end. Although small in scale, it will have a cycle parade through the city on Sunday. The Bangkok Post yesterday had an article on a new gay Vietnamese film. It's title is Hot Boy Noi Loan, which translates as Lost in Paradise apparently, although that seems a bit strange as Hot Boy isn't Vietnamese I wouldn't have thought! Unfortunately I cannot find a link to it on-line so cannot post one. The film is due to be aired at the Berlin Film festival next month, and the article thinks it should be available on dvd later in the year. Homosexuality is not often discussed openly in Vietnam and so a film featuring two gay men has raised a few eyebrows.

Thinking of doing long weekend holiday in Viet Nam.....just 3 or 4 days. From those that have been, whick city recommended? Hanoi? Ho Chi Minh City?

I am planning to visit Vietnam later this year for 9 or 10 days. I am pretty certain I want to visit Hue to see the imperial sites and also Hoi An for a couple of days. I will not have enough time for both Hanoi and HCMC. SO, if you had to pick one or the other which would it be? I like ancient history and culture most of all. And cute boys of course, but I assume they are everywhere. :-)

I am going to travel to Vietnam midweek, and will give a full report on my return to Thailand late next week. We (my boyfriend and I) will be visiting the tunnels used by viet cong during Vietnam War, the Mekong Delta, the Rex Hotel, and maybe some gay spots. Hi, I will be travelling around South Vietnam soon (Saigon, Dalat, Nha Trang, Hoi Han, Da Nang and Hue). I would like to get some recent information on the gay scene (if any) in those cities (discos, bars, saunas, cruising, etc...) Thx in advance!

I would appreciate hearing from any members here who have been to Saigon/HCM City recently. I will be going for my first visit on December 11th after spending two weeks in Thailand. Any suggestions on places to go and things to do would be greatly appreciated. I am aware that gay life in Vietnam is not as readily accessible as it is in Bangkok or Pattaya - that is why I am hoping some members of this website can offer some first-hand knowledge about things to do and see. Any/all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
