  1. I used to go to Phuet at least once a year, but have not been for more than a dozen. A friend is going there in October and has asked for a nice quiet Thai restaurant recommendation. My favourite for years was Baan Rim Pa on the cliff just north of Patong Beach opposite the Novotel. Long before that, it was the restaurant at the Boathouse on Kata Beach. But whereas Baan Rim Pa suffered no damage as a result of the tsunami, the Boathouse was destroyed. I realise it has been up and running again for quite a few years.     From Bangkok Post PHUKET — Three tourists and a guide were injured while swimming near a speedboat that exploded in flames near Koh Mai Thon, off the coast of Phuket, on Tuesday morning.     This is question I was asked this morning by acquaintance who is planning trip to region , not just Thailand , at end of February and wants to stop for about week in either place as mid-trip break. Since I'm not sun/ sand / beach guy and have only 2 days experience with Phuket , never being in Krabi I told him to ask somewhere else but promised to ask around. Maybe you guys can chip in with your opinion or suggestion. We are talking vacations not boy/girl hunting so leave those consideration out. He was Thailand before so is kind of familiar with country but never travelled south of Hua Hin. What do you say ?
