  1. For anyone travelling from the westcoast, I thought my flights from Vancouver, Canada to Mexico City then to Bogota and Medellin was much worse than my routing on the way back from Medellin to San Salvador, Los Angelos and then Vancouver. Most of the flights were on Avianca. Mexico City and Bogota were both difficult airports to go through customs and find gates, there seemed to be a lot of confusion. San Salvador was well organized and easy.
  2. I just returned from my two week trip to Medellin, Colombia. My experience was a bit different than TassoJunior; however, I am not as adventurous as he probably is. I do agree with TassoJunior, the taxi ride from the airport to the hotel was one of the most frightening experiences of my life. The 25 mile road winds around the mountain and has many sharp curves, my driver was going at least twice the posted speed limit, texting the entire trip and drifting into oncoming traffic; but he was 21 years old and cute, so all is forgiven. On the way back to the airport, I not only had the same experience but it was 3 AM and he kept the window open the entire trip with temperatures 12 degrees centigrade. But, Colombia has spent a lot of money on infrastructure and roads were perfect, equal to anything in the US or Canada. All the taxi vehicles were small but new and fortunately in good shape; but, during the few times I did take taxis to centro, there were two accidents where people were killed or injured. On the other hand, I used yellow taxis all the time and never had a problem except for the language. I stayed at a 5 star hotel on the edge of town which was a mistake. I felt isolated and despite the fact that it was a very secure area, I did not feel comfortable walking on sidewalks with no other people around. On two occasions, I went to the area around the cathedral and saw no hustlers on either side of the church and absolutely no hustlers on Calle 57A. I could not even find a bar where I could have sat and observed the scene. This was late in the afternoon, everyone advised not to be in that area at night. I also went to the area where Club de Tobi was supposed to be situated and searched the entire area for hours and could not find the club. There did not seem to be any signs and the people I ask, in the area, did not know of any Club de Tobi. I checked out the Gran Hotel and it appeared a bit seedy and not in a very good area for night prowling. I would suggest the hotels in the area of the Santa Fe Shopping centre which is the area called Problado. The area is very secure and there are enough pedestrians to feel comfortable. Taxis are plentiful and cheap and as I said I had absolutely no problem with them. A friend from Pereira visited me and we used the subway and took the Gondola to the top of the mountain. The subway was crowded but safe. Police were very friendly and helpful. I had numerous contacts from young guys on Grindr and they all seemed to be interested in mature men, not necessarily for money, because on that subject they became insulted or even blocked me. I arranged a meeting with a couple of them; but, had a meeting at the bar at the hotel beforehand. One was a disaster. The other one was bilingual and explained the situation in the city and even drove me around in his car to show me the good spots. The big problem in Colombia is that almost nobody speaks English. My Spanish is minimal and I had to rely on the translators on my phone for assistance. Even at the 5 star hotel only the front desk was really bilingual. Despite all these problems, I thought that the city of Medellin and the country of Colombia were great, much better than what I expected. Colombians are very friendly and welcoming. I fully intend to go back again, sooner rather than later, but not until I have a good working knowledge of Spanish. I am enrolled in a Spanish course next week so you can how anxious I am to return. Most of my flights were on Avianca and I found it to be a great airline with friendly staff. However, Mexico City and Bogota are difficult airports to navigate particularly if you do not understand Spanish. I will never understand why I had to collect my luggage and go through customs in Mexico City when it was only a transit point; but, had no customs entering Colombia. By the way, there is an $80 US immigration fee on entering Colombia.
  3. Prepagos are nightly in the bars and on the street of Calle 57A where it meets Oriental, the main street. There's a gay sex hotel in that block and they're all over Candaleria. They're not nice. The bartender at Andres Carbon in that block is a good looking young guy who will set you up with others. I wish I had started with Club Tobi and gotten suggestions from those guys. Also I wish I'd known about the masseur house mentioned in the Medellin thread. Club Tobi is a good start and base. Good hamburgers too and many of the regular customers are stunning. All regular hotels have safes but getting a guy in could be a problem with some hotels. Medellin hotels have an anti- "Sex Tourist" campaign going. Had to look at it's posters every time I took an elevator. But in day time with a mature clean-cut guy I doubt it's a problem. Bogota should be less problematic.
  4. In Bogota I stayed in Hilton no problem with visitors. Medellin I stayed in Colombia Hotel (don't remember name) again no problem at all. Saftey I can only tell you I saw 6 boys from Gayromeo not all in the escort section and I had no problems. As always put your valuables away and be aware as you need to be in Brazil Thailand Prague or anywhere. No idea about short term Hotels because I don't generally like.
  5. Last trip to Bogota I don't think Hornet existed. I just looked in Bogota 18-24 and all I can say is WOW . I sent out some Hello's just to see what response you get . Take a look and you'll probably be looking for tickets!!
  6. Most gays going to Bogota seem to like the Jones hotel in Chaperniro. Not a lot of high class hotels in Chaperniro since it's mostly a gay sex neighborhood. The Marriott and Hilton are very expensive for Bogota and I don't know how easy guests are. Those 2 and The Holiday Inn are up around 73rd, about 15 (short) blocks north of the center of Chapinero but not far from Babylon and St Moritz. I had a free suite at the Crown Plaza Tuequendama downtown which was a hike to Chapeniro but close to the Gold Museum and the Botero museums which are must-sees in Bogota. The Gold Museum has thousands of gold Inca pieces, thousands of years old. Amazing museum and 1 of a kind. Also see the Colpatria Tower there at night- 50-story building covered with millions of led's in a light show. Generally the massages are priced by length from 20 minutes to 1 hour but in practice they're over when you come. St Moritz is the only sauna without posted rates and it's strictly let's-make-a-deal. Most start with a pretense of a massage with you laying on your stomach and the masseure rubbing oil for the first 5 minutes which is annoying and after the first session with a masseure can be dispensed with. The massage table is really annoying for sex but that's all that's there usually. I'm older etc and didn't have any altitude problems and I walked fast for miles a day. The only time I got physically sick was in the little tin-can taxi racing up and down the mountains from the airport to Medellin.
  7. Fascinating report! A few questions, since I am planning on going: Would you recommend staying at the Marriott or Hilton in Chaperino? How long do the massages at St. Moritz last? Did you have any problems with altitude sickness in Bogota?
  8. btw- As soon as I got to Bogota I opened CB and there a new guy from Medellin who's hot. My luck. His handle there is kedman_10.
  9. Left Medellin this morning via a yellow cab the hotel called for me with a driver they know well. He charged less than the white cab I had taken in. In Bogota I was approached by a white cab wanting $20 for the short trip but instead got in the line for yellow cabs and had a fine ride for $10. Then later in Bogota I flagged another yellow cab and had a fine ride for less than half what white cabs cost. I now realize it's the white cabs that are less professional and the airports and hotels make money off them and try to scare tourists from using yellow cabs. Bogota is still not panning out but I'll post tomorrow. Babylon Sauna's website has photo galleries of their 3 masseurs......they open at 3pm.
  10. In Columbia there are white cabs for tourists that are very very few, only called by hotels, and a little more expensive than the thousands of little yellow cabs cruising every street. I was warned they sometimes actually rob tourists and dump them so I took white cabs 3 times. The first time was in Bogota going about 3 miles from my hotel to Chapinero. I was charged $15- too much by far but not robbery. The 2nd time I got a white cab from my hotel to go exactly 10 blocks up the same avenue from the hotel. The address was clear and written down. The driver for some reason took me way up on top of Montserret mountain on a narrow road in the woods and I was actually shaking that I was going to be robbed and killed. I begged him to take me back to the hotel after a half hour of senseless driving on top of the mountain which he did and and asked me to pay him 10K COP for the "effort" which I did and walked where I was going. The 3rd white cab was from the Medellin airport which is a 25 mile drive over mountains. The driver was going 50-60 mph on dangerous twisting mountain roads and the fee was 70K COP ($30). I trust the people who tell me that the yellow street cabs are much more dangerous (for tourists especially) hence I want nothing more to do with any cab in Columbia than I have to. I got my hotel In Medellin right in the middle of everything and when I return to Bogota tomorrow I'm learning to use the Transmillenio Rapid Bus from my hotel to Chapinero. Any future trips here I'll always get my hotel in the action area to avoid taxis. I returned to Club Tobi sauna for the 3rd time tonight and had sessions with Adrian and Christain my two favorites (tho Christain doesn't bottom while Adrian is a super power bottom). Both collect muscles the way some people collect stamps and are sweet and cheerful as anyone I've ever met. Even on a slow Monday night there were 4 masseurs working and grateful for the business. I now think that the 60K COP massage is normally as good as the 90K one. After they closed at 10 I walked up to the prepaygo block, 57A, but it only had about 20 people out and about half were prepaygos. Medellin is a very early town. I really think that generally, especially for a visitor, the sauna boys are a much better experience than the street prepaygos. I didn't try any of the prepagos from Grindr and wish I had. But Grindr prepagos would have to be public meeting first.
  11. Very interesting posts! Thank you. I, too, have been considering Colombia. But, I must say getting robbed twice makes me wonder about Medellin. Did you have any problem with altitude sickness in Bogota? Did you consider Cartagenia?
  12. The guys on F4F, CB, C4 etc are all from Medellin and Cali. The hottest are from Cali. (believe me I asked!) None from Bogota. I don't speak any Spanish. I leave to go back to Bogota for 2 more days in the morning and if anyone has any suggestions there I'd appreciate them. My first couple days there were fruitless. Evidently Delta is starting daily non-stop service to Medellin and Cartagenia from Atlanta. They already have flights to Bogota. An open-jaw would be good to see both Medellin & Bogota or Cartagenia as one-ways between them are only @ $85.
  13. I, too, want to thank you for your most helpful report. After seeing the fabulous guys on "Flirt for Free" who have always stated that they were from Colombia when I asked them from where do they hail, this has been one place which has always piqued my interest. Also, another poster has written some good reports after he'd visited, too, but he speaks Spanish. Do you speak any Espanol and are perhaps fluent. I know you mentioned about the taxi drivers. I await your pending addition once you travel and enjoy Bogota. Again, thanks man!
  14. This was my first time in Columbia and I did my research just googleing. I didn't have a guide although I'm sure one would have been better. When you google certain terms the usual sites don't offer much except lists of places- some out-dated. The Gay Guia Columbia, which is very good on Bogota, is almost empty on Medellin. A site called Gay Gringo has the review of Barbcolus Sauna and Club Tobi that implies BS is great while Tobi is just for posseurs with no "masseurs"----wrong. A site called Columbia Express has a story on the best (and worst) of gay Medellin which is otherwise a great story but is the one that said Calle 57A west of the cathedral is where the prepagos are---that's why I went there and got robbed twice. In fact 57A east of the catherdal, where the prepaygo bars are, is the intersection of Medellin's main street Oriental so it's completely safe. Funny how one little mistake like that can make such a difference in safety. Researching, most of the many saunas have websites and list their rates, including for massage. One in Bogota, which I'll go to, actually has photos of it's masseurs. The universal slang for garotos in Columbia is "Prepaygos", which is technically the term for prepaid telephone service. A variation on rentboy. Thankfully Grindr at least isn't hip to that slang yet.
  15. The reason I went is because Avianca had a $400 r/t special from the east coast. It's just a 5-hour non-stop from DC to Bogota and Avianca is a wonderful airline with the best economy class I've ever seen. American flies non-stop to Medellin from Miami and it's a 3-hour flight. Be warned that the Medellin airport is some 25 miles from town over mountains and a taxi is 70K COP ($28). Save some air-sickness meds for the twisting 2-lane road trip with an insane driver. However there is an airport bus I'll use going back that's much cheaper and hopefully slower. Flights between Bogota and Medellin are usually about $175 r/t every hour and take an hour. Avianca is vastly preferred over LAN. Forget the bus. Bogota is 2 miles high and Medellin is 1 mile high and the mountain roads between them are so twisting that it takes the bus 18 hours to go the 120 miles. Bogota is a little cooler than Medellin and may require a light jacket at night but Medellin is warm all day and night. Both cities get several rain showers every day. Bogota is a great sight-seeing spot with the incredible Inca Gold Museum that displays some $5 billion of ancient Inca gold artwork from 3000 years ago. The world's greatest living artist, Fernando Botero, is from Medellin but Bogota has the huge Botero Museum, next to the Gold Museum. Medellin is the center of the coffee trade (although it's hard to get a decent cup of coffee here that doesn't taste like instant). It's also the center of the flower industry where most of the cut flowers we buy in the US come from. Bogota has 8 million people in the city, same as New York, and is a regional financial center with a large middle-class and several 50-story skyscrapers. The gay neighborhood of Bogota is called Chaperniro and extends from about Calle 50 to Calle 75. One of the largest gay nightclubs in the world is Theatron on 58th and the NYT calls Bogota a new gay mecca. read...thousands of middle class gay clones. Coke and pot are both legal and super cheap. Most of the world's coke starts out 100% pure in Columbia for less that we pay for pot.
  16. BTW- Columbian miltary are on every street corner in Columbia. Absolutely georgous stunning guys in late teens who get paid about $20/month. Unfortunately a miltary truck picks them all up and carts them off to some place that must be like heaven to a gay guy. Also, in Medellin the squeegy boys on streets washing car windows are usually not half bad. And in both Bogota and Medellin the hotel guys are very attractive and seem to be willing. My first regret was not hitting on the cute thing that carried my bag to my room in Bogota. I'm sure plenty have.
  17. Just curious if anyone knows about good things in Bogota or Medellin, etc., Colombia. Might be going there and wanted to know if there's anything similar to 117 in Rio and if not, then what kinds of places or boys are available. Thanks!
  18. I found both professional boys and regular boys on Gayromeo quite easily. Bogota is much bigger and therefore the selection is bigger but Medellin is just a spectacular visual city.
  19. Hi everybody, I`m planning a new visit to Brazil in the second half of August. Probably it is not the best season but it is work (a lite work) for me. This time, after a week in RJ I'll travel to Brasilia and Curitiba... I wonder if rhere is much to do in the federal ciyt capital: any information?? Any travel companion? And at the end of October I have my annual visit to Colombia. By the way, I found a very nice guy in Gayromeo--Bogota as TOTTOSEXY. I met him last sommer in Buenos Aires and was a great company... Nice body, ok face and totally client-oriented, since he likes his men a bit older...i Ep
  20. I was going to wait for Lucky and Tom to finish their trip but decided that the audience is excited now so why not give them something else to think about. This is my 2nd trip to Colombia and I spent most of the time in Cartagena with 2 days in Bogota which I had visited before. Now I freely admit my taste runs to Twinks up to Athletic or Gymnast type Bodies. I have been to Brazil a number of times and always enjoyed myself but found my type of Boy severely lacking. Saunas are also not my thing. I like a King Size bed in my room with no time constraints. So I had heard good things about Colombia and decided to visit 2 months ago. My report here was very positive and meant I had to try it again. Unfortunately I had a case of the Flu for part of this trip and so the boys I met were limited in numbers. All the boys that I have attached photos of are either boys I met on Gayromeo or were friends of boys who I met on Gayromeo.. Every boy I met looked exactly like the photos on Gayromeo or better. They all did what they promised and were very generous with their time. No 40 minutes and on to the new customer in Colombia.. I am not knocking it, just pointing out the differences. Cartagena has a beautiful old walled city with many fabulous restaurants and bars and the prices are quite reasonable. And of course the city is surrounded by beaches. I have attached some photos of the spectacular Ocean Front apartment I rented. I believe anything similar in Brazil would be 3x the price if you could even find it. The other attraction for me is the flight time is about 1/2 as long from most of the USA and the price considerably less. I am used to long flights since I go to Thaiand 4x a year but I want something closer for short trips. I never saw a cloud in Cartagena and the temp was 88 every day and 72 at night. Bogota is at a much higher altitude and it was in the 60's there. The photos of the boys are all boys I met this trip except for one from trip #1. There were many more boys available if I had the strength or Tomcal's secret. The boys all told me there are also many muscular boys to be had but since that is not my interest , I did not explore that avenue. The city photos are all Cartagena and the apartment is the one I rented in Cartagena. In Bogota I got a weekend rate of $99 a night for a brand new Hilton. Do I need to mention how that compares to that dump Atlantico at $350 . Anyways time for some of you to spread your wings and try Colombia. I am sure you will have a good time!!
  21. In answer to OZ. I had intended to explore other options then GR but the FLU really restricted my activities. The boys in Bogota tell me there are bars where boys go to get picked up and make money . I understand also the Discos are good spots . There are also some escort sites which I will try to post if I can get them from my friend. I don't believe the saunas are much . There were no late nights for me this trip. I had all I could do to handle the boys pictured. Bogota is by far the largest city and therefore probably has the most varied opportunities. To Four Aces. I did not run into Flirt boys but hopefully KYTop could provide some info on that because I know he met a few boys from Flirt. You have to fly between cities because buses are not safe and the fares on Avianca are quite cheap and even allows toy to fly a boy in from a city you might not visit. The boy Four Aces could fall in love with was a fly in to Cartagena and it worked out just fine. I have found the boys in Colombia to be very honest and non professional in a good way!!
  22. firecat have you run into any of the f4f boys? there is a large group that work out of Bogota. In fact my two favorite do. They always put on a awesome show. The one on our right usually tops. He has a huge dick as well.
  23. So for those of you my friend in Bogota sent me a couple of websites with boys for hire. Unfortunately Spanish only but interesting. http://www.machoscolombianos.com/modelos/intro.php http://www.bogotagay.com/es/load.php?uid=0&leng=es&grupo=187&ktema=0&id_padre=-1&url=contacompanantesvaroniles.htm I return in 2 weeks and will keep you advised.
  24. Wanted to go for the last year and finally made a short trip of 4 1/2 days. Since I don't speak Spanish and there is not a lot of information on the web, I decided to rely on Gayromeo which I use with great success in Thailand. I conversed with a number of boys in the regular section and the escort section and was encouraged that things would go smoothly even though I knew many of the boys were using google translate . Conversation always makes it better for me but I wasn't traveling to a strange country for conversation. Arrived in Bogota at 930pm and was through customs and in my Hotel by 1030pm. 15 minutes after that one of the boys I made a time with arrived. He looked like the photos and did everything he promised. Pictures of most of the boys will be at the end along with Gayromeo profile numbers for additional photos. He stayed about 2 hours and I gave him the equivalent of $50. That was pretty much what the boys asked for in the Escort section. They put $50 for an hour and anywhere from $100 to $300 for overnight. I did not find any of the boys to be clock watchers so you can expect a couple of hours for your $50. I rarely do overnights unless I have been with the boy a few times so you are on your own if you like all nighters. Now I found the boys in the non escort section never mentioned money and were certainly happy to take the money offered. If I said good bye without offering something, would they have asked? I am not sure. In one case the boy seemed completely surprised but very grateful and in 2 other cases, I felt like they were expecting it but might never have asked.. For me I like it as a financial arrangement. I'm not there looking for a BF and find $50 an extremely fair price for a couple of hours with a quality boy. After 2 nights in Bogota I went to Medellin for 2 nights. Fabulous location at the bottom of a mountain range that looks like Switzerland and has perfect weather year round except for some thunderstorms in the afternoon. Rarely ever below 60 and almost never over 80 year round. I did forget to mention that if you are old and out of shape like me you will get hit with the 9000 ft altitude of Bogota. For 12 hours I was definitely having trouble breathing. Medellin is down around 5000 ft and reminds me of Singapore. 4 to 8 lane roads in the new downtown area and fabulous malls, apartments, condo etc. People are well dressed and their economy is booming. Hook ups were a little harder. Not sure if it was because Medellin is much smaller with a population of 2 million versus 10 million in Bogota. Or it could have been because it was a weekend and the boys have their own things to do. Unlike Brazil, most of the boys are at the University or have jobs. They are just looking to earn some extra money. Also I believe every boy I met was Gay and not Gay for Pay. Now that makes no difference to me one way or another. I am only interested if they do what is promised. Only one boy I met could have been termed slightly fem , the rest were fairly masculine. They all dressed pretty well because generally the country dresses really well . Poor OZ and I will stand out as not well dressed. As far as any safety concerns. I was never concerned but I am always careful in a new country not to wear flashy things or show ads of money. The more affluent areas in both cities , you will not see many police visible, and I guess the reason is cameras everywhere. In the older tourist areas there is a heavy police presence so once again no worries if you are careful. Now I did not do any late nights , or any saunas because time was limited and I was getting plenty of boys. Two of the University boys in Bogota volunteered they had friends for me to see and willing for groups if I wanted. Next trip for sure I will take advantage of that. I found the Colombian people very friendly and willing to help even when my lack of Spanish was a hinderance. Only a 4 1/2 flight from Atlanta , it moves way up on my list for some future visits. I could write a lot more but I know you want pics. Not every boy was comfortable with pics and frankly my pics are not as good as some of the pics the boys post on their ad. I found all the boys used photos that represented how they look at this time. The only changes might be length of hair or style so ask if long hair is important to you. First boy is Douglas23 in escort section of Gayromeo 2nd boy is andresnieto in regular section, 3rd boy is felipelindo5 in escort section, Last 2 photos are LOKOL1 in regular section. The other photo is a guide at the university that i snapped a quick pic of. It doesnt do him justice but boys like this were all over in the malls etc.
  25. Delta can get me to Bogota in 12 hours and 12 minutes for $1513. The next cheapest flight is on Continental at $1930 and takes 14 hours and 26 minutes. If I flew from LAX instead of PSP, Aeromexico could get me there in 14 hours and 5 minutes, but for only $736. AA is 9 hours and 15 minutes, at $740.
