CHINA, 2012

Hey, men, although I have some time to begin researching, I'd like to know about the escort/masssage scene in China. I hope to take a 3wk tour next September, and during my free time, I desire to explore another side of China, that of escorts and masseurs as well as additional cultural components.

What sites should I consult other than www.rentmen.com? Let the info flow, please!!!!!!!!!

My reply probably comes a bit too late. It depends on where you are going in China.

Most cities will have some online agencies (bigger cities have more), some like Shenzhen even have massage places or bars you can go to pick your boys. You need to be able to read Chinese to view those websites.

For normal professional massage, two hours should cost around RMB100 plus tips.

For massage with other services - cost is the same but tips will depends on what extra services you need (jerk off RMB200, oral RMB300 and RMB400 for full service).

For just hiring rentboy, RMB500 to 800 for "fast food", i.e. 2-3 hours. Anything from RMB800 to 1,500 for overnight.

Well I don't want to spoil your fun but I advise against hiring escorts in China. It's a totally different culture and you will not get any protection if something happens. You have enough guys to hire here. But if you want to do it then be cautious. Other than that have fun.

No, Maleire, your response is NOT TOO LATE! If I continue with this plan (...have already put down my deposit on a tour.)-- I will be going in September of 2012. Your response is more than helpful. Many thanks!!!!!

I have been hiring boys whenever I go there for business trips for close to 10 years. Never have problems but I do speak Mandarin.

Stick to larger/reputable agencies and you should be fine.

I saw those massage parlour ads on the Utopia site and I was determined to visit some of them when I was in China in 2009. But, I found that it was impossible to find a taxi driver who could understand any English at all. In fact, in Shanghai I had to walk to an International Hotel and ask the doorman to explain to a taxi driver that I wanted to return to the cruise ship. I am returning to Asia for a 4 week vacation in February, and I am determined to visit some of these places, particularly in Singapore and Hong Kong; but, also in Sanya, Shanghai and Beijing if at all possible. I will post any information I have. I find these sites invaluable for real information on the escort scene in foreign countries and I cannot thank the posters enough.

Avian influenza returns! As always, this one may be the bad one. One dead so far.

But the always reliable Chinese authorities have assured us it was a flu variant not transmissible from human to human. :getlost: Just don't go touring any duck farms, I guess.

Not so true if you read today's newspaper. It is beginning to look like a real threat. And with those rascal scientists actually studying how to make it more deadly, it's just a matter of time before all become chicken(s).

From TODAY's Wall Street Journal:

Hong Kong Urges Bird-Flu Vigilance

HONG KONG—Health authorities in Hong Kong are urging residents to take steps to ensure personal hygiene, and the city remains on high alert following the bird-flu-related death of a man in mainland China.

Renewed fears in Hong Kong came as Chinese authorities said preliminary tests showed the Shenzhen man, who died Saturday and whose case was China's first reported human case of bird flu in 18 months, was infected with the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus—as was a dead bird found in Hong Kong's New Territories before the holidays.

A spokesman for Hong Kong's Centre for Health Protection said Tuesday that the health department is in close contact with its Chinese counterpart and urged vigilance by people in Hong Kong to prevent new infections. On Saturday, the government suspended imports of live poultry and poultry products from parts of neighboring Shenzhen for three weeks in a bid to reduce the likelihood of an outbreak.

Authorities said Tuesday that two more migratory birds discovered dead in Hong Kong were found to be infected with the bird flu, though further tests are needed to determine whether it was H5N1 or the less dangerous H5 strain.

Bird flu, or avian influenza, remains a threat primarily to poultry, not humans. According to the World Health Organization, there is no evidence of the virus's passing to humans through properly cooked poultry or eggs. Most of the people who have been infected with H5N1 had contact with live birds or their droppings.

Get a card from the hotel or ask somebody to write down the street name in Chinese. Alternatively, use your handphone to call wherever you want to go and pass the phone to the taxi driver.

Agencies in Utopia are usually a bit more expansive. As I said again and again, you must stick to larger agencies, otherwise you are asking for trouble. Here is a bad experience when I was in Guangzhou last month (no major agencies in Guangzhou):

I was feeling horny and wanted to find a muscular boy in Guangzhou. I went on various agencies and called one of them. I explained over the phone what I am looking for as I do not trust the photos. The agency recommended a boy, his photo was ok and the owner assured me he is muscular. If I do not like him, just give him taxi fare and send him back.

When the boys showed up, he was entirely different from photo. Look was not that important, so I asked him to show me his body. Totally flat, no six pack, so I sent him back. He demanded RMB100 taxi fare (no way it is so much unless he is the other side of town but he showed up 10 mins after I called, most likely RMB20-30 return by taxi) and RMB200 tips because he show me his body. When I refused, he started screaming in my room. At the end I gave him RMB200 incl taxi to send him away.

My friend in China told me it is very common trick by smaller agencies. Unless they have webcam, avoid small agencies at all cost.

I visited Asia and China in February, I found that a lot of the boys that you see on the escort agency site are also available on Grindr, particularly in Hong Kong. There were at least 5 active on the site the two days I was there. I invited one to the hotel. He was several years older looking than the picture on the escort site, but it was the same guy. He understood a little English but we communicated with I-phones and google translate. Once we were in the room he became very demanding. Therefore, next time I think that I will go through one of the larger agencies. I found that it was very easy to meet guys on the street. They are very smart and quickly realized what I was after.. Soon you will find them asking what you will pay for them. Usual fee seems to be approximately 1000 Hong Kong dollars. I also had a couple of offers from young guys on Grindr in Singapore. Vietnam was also interesting but that just seemed to be a chance encounter.

Could you expand a little on your Viet Nam experience. We have had some interest posted in the past with little to no feedback. So anything would be helpful. Thanks.

There is not much more I can say, both Nha Trang and Da Nang are beautiful cities, with well developed western resorts and great beaches. The infrastructure seems to be well developed. I think that there are many possibilities for gay men there but it is not an instantaneous situation, the relationship has to be developed. In my situation, I met a nice cab driver on a private tour and we played around in the car, I did not have time to go to a hotel. I only had 8 hours at each location.

Why not meet them in a public place & if the guy is not the same as the photo, send him away?

The only escort I have ever sent away was Chinese. But this was in New York. he had advertised as exceptionally handsome, but only his mother would have thought so. I gave him $20. He wasn't happy, but maybe he changed his ad to read "plain-looking guy."

You are lucky that boy went away quietly.

The boys in China will make a big fuss, shouting etc and even threatening you.

I can tell you 90% of the photos in less reputable agencies website are either fake or too much touch up using photoshop. Either stick to the agencies I mentioned or in larger cities, go to the bars and select the boys yourself. You will have a great time if you do that.

Yes.. That could be a big problem dealing with Chinese. I would not recommend hiring escorts in China. Especially if you are a high ranking official or CEO of a major company.
