It was always interesting to call in for for a beer and watch the human side of things unwrap as you may have seen a single guy come in one minute looking for a boy - usually Russian for some reason and more often than not even hammered or off his head on something) and then perhaps a mixed gender couple where the older type lady was looking for a boy for herself and maybe the husband wanted to watch or join in or vice versa or all three ! I was friendly with one of the guys from the bar and we spent a bit of time together with some of the staff over songkran one year and the crack was always good and some of the stories they told about the "str8" ladies and their requests and their hygiene of all things would have turned you ! My only complaint ( and I can't believe I've turned in to one of "those" people saying this on a gay forum!) - but the music was too damned loud ! However before being cast as some old fogey ( as 'm not)I should point out that the music was intentionally set almost to deafening levels. This I think was a throw back to the first year or two of the operation of the bar when they used to have their sliding doors fully opened but a black drape placed completely covering the door with guys where outside dancing out on the street and this needed the music loud to get through the curtain to give a "club" feel going to both add a little mystic to the place and to whet the passers by interest and also make them stop to look through the curtain ( where they were grabbed by a waiter to come in) and for the place to perhaps look busier / more exciting than it actually was. I'm told it was also to keep on the right side of the police as well, however I seem to recall they were ordered to stop doing the outside dancing part ( or decided to stop paying those who allowed it) and so the door had to be permanently closed over - but it seems no one told the DJ to alter the volume of the music accordingly hence the volume, resulting in shouting in each ear and then playing a bit of a guessing game was the only way of deciding where in the "Hello, what your name" list questions you actually were as neither party could hardly hear a word the other was saying - which actually i found wasn't such a bad thing sometimes :-) But it's a pity it's closed as I quite liked the idea of a / some gay bars / club on walking street and think they would still work if set up correctly and it was always nice to have somewhere gay to pop into for a beer when out doing the normal walking street thing of an evening while getting away from Sunee / BT etc for a while.

just out of interest do they give a reason for stopping their service, whereas I mean is it purely down to a lack of customers using the route i.e. a sign of less Americans heading to Thailand perhaps for some reason or is it part of some other deeper company restructuring plan perhaps ( which is even more annoying sometimes when it DOES appear to be a viable, profitable route and they STILL cut it in-spite of of customer demand perhaps??

Ah that might explain why you're not meeting the right guys Christian as you do know that all the really hot, interesting horny guys usually only start to think about heading out in Thailand around that time I find :-)

ha ha I've always wondered just how come all these str8 guys parties ( in no matter WHAT country) always end up with the guys getting some guys clothes off and depending on the party usually ending up sticking something up his ass or some other homoerotic act while they all look on cheering and joining in - definitely Freud would have a field day there I think :-)

Ahhhh what fond memories of "the twins" doing the sexy bubble bath show together......hmmmm made my night there that day - much to disgust of several of my thai friends as I totally ignored them while that particular part of the show was on :-) And as for the VIP area upstairs, i can think of nothing worse that being forced upstairs when all the hot drunk Thai guys are down stairs just waiting for your next toilet run to get your away from your BF de jour for 30 seconds and give it their best "Hello, where you go, come join us here"line :-)

Fair play to the guy, brave thing to do - but crazy that the guy ended up stabbing his boss because she "scolded him"about his work - that certainly puts a whole new chapter on "how best to handle a disciplinary meeting with badly performing staff" - where perhaps the Thai management book should now say, a) firstly are you SURE you really need to and secondly b) if so perhaps it might be best to make sure that your car door is opened first and that if things get crazy you start running before they do ! Although to be fair to the poor victim it sound like that's exactly what she did do and he still ended up murdering her :-(

Great report and reminds me nicely of my trips there - although I laughed as I'm sure at least half of your pics are duplicated almost exactly in my own photo library here, which sort of puts paid to the romantic notion I tend up conjure up in my head when in such places of my being some intrepid world traveller exploring the deep and dusky sites of SE Asia, lone and just a mere emerald find or two away from being Indiana Jones on his last crusade, when in effect I (we) are of course just the next day's eager hoard of western tourists pouring over the same sights that have been photographed by many before us whilst all thinking each particular shot we take is SO thought out and meaningful and unique and special to us lol ( although I guess in some way it IS actually still ). But the beauty of Angkor Wat is of course is that no matter just how tourist trail treadmill our shots may appear to be to the locals they DO still look unique and special to us when looked at back at home as it's just such a magical place. - well in my case for the first few hours then that was enough "culture" for one day and it was time to return to the many "delights?" of Seim Reap of course.

So, unless I've missed it being reported in the western press ( and I have been watching out for it) it seems that the D-Day date of the 3rd of Sept has both come and gone for Mr Voyayuth where he blatantly just didn't show up for court and even after all the huffing and puffing of Thai prosecutors it appears that STILL no action has been taken by them to have him arrested again ( assuming he's back in Thailand) after his sudden illness in Singapore whilst away on business. I mean SURELY someone in Thailand should be screaming about this case now at a very high level as in terms of world wide PR it really is just getting off the scale now in terms of displaying just how much "money talks" in Thailand - unless of course the people who should be screaming are of course perhaps the same people who are benefiting I guess :-( So, where's the free press when you need them ?

Yes but unfortunately the police were called to the scene and low and behold it turns out that actually the accident was all the fault of the one and only farang who was on the plane who was sitting in row 23 reading the paper and minding his own business, so he's been arrested and several senior police officers have been seen going in and out of his cell with scraps of paper with baht figures written on them ! Those pesky farang, the cause of all of Thailand's problems it seems !! lol Who'd of thunk it eh :-)

LINE is very good actually as not only does it let you literally voice chat live and call and chat to your friend for free (as a VIOP call) but you can also send and receive live text chat and it also allows you to sends pictures, videos, audio files, your location info and also your profile info all with the click of one button. The other person and you both have to have the App on your device and then you can do a search for the other persons user name or if they are with you just shake you phones beside esch orther snd it auto transfers your contact info (not iphones strangely which is why many boys claim to have Samsung phones - and not because they are just cheaper :-) you can use transfer info via a QR bar code scanner / reader which like the shaking thing is a good way of getting someone's contact details of you are in a busy club or bsr without having to shout in each others ear, then once added you can use all of the above services all for free. WHAT'S APP is basically the same but the chat runs a bit smoother and you can also send video/ pictures etc in it, but you simply add people by searching their phone number and if they have the App it comes up asking do you want to add them, hence line you may not want to use as it means giving the guy your actual real phine number whereas line is just a user name, but both are very popular with Thai guys and are a great free way of keeping in touch with Thai friends for free should you wish to.

i think the taxis in Bangkok are great, they're cheap and plentiful and most importantly almost for me COLD, there's times I would almost take a taxi round the block just to cool down some days ! lol But the one thing that does surprise me sometimes is the drivers lack of local knowledge re where places are etc, even going from say Tarntawan to Babylon has proved difficult sometimes and that's even after giving them the address written in Thai too ! Mind you the same written directions have also lead to a knowing smile and I "oh yes I go there too sometimes" from one driver I had one afternoon so they're not all bad :-)

Aww great post, I think I'm definitely going to give that a shot on my next trip as something different to do as a break from the norm - plus I'm guessing any Thai boy I bring will absolutely HATE jazz and blues so that will be an added bonus sitting watching him squirm for half an hour putting up with it until I give in and take him somewhere else lol

So, surprise surprise as predicted the guy didn't turn up for his hearing !!! After asking for it to be postponed until the 2nd Sept when his case was due on the 3rd he amazingly "took ill" whilst in Singapore ( couldn't of been THAT sick in the first place if he was able to travel whilst ill first time round mind I guess) But his lawyers have assured the Court that he hasn't actually fled the Country and IS just genuinely sick and that he would be returning to Thailand within the next three days or so - or more like just however long it takes for them to convince him that it's in his long term interests to stand up and be a man and return to Thailand to face justice and not continue to use his money to try and escape justice any longer......or perhaps to give them a little longer to take care of the right people to ensure the right result for him - so watch this space then it looks like but for now it appears that Thai prosecutors appear determined to issue an arrest warrant for him if he doesn't show - so perhaps he has just pissed off one to many people at the top this time, who knows !?
