words of wisdom. I one doesn't know the person can't assess correctly what he is trying to say. There are those who will be complaining about the food just because view from restaurant windows was ugly a and will be those who will be praising unkempt hotel just because staff at reception is cute. Often , just for fun I read reviews of hotels I was staying in and I'm amazed what some are complaining about or exclaiming virtues I clearly overlooked when there. Restaurant reviews are even less relevant as our tastes about food vary very widely. Just recently in span of few days three newbies acting on my recommendation visited Oasis on Suriwong to taste my often mentioned chicken with cashews. Feedback I received- one praise and thank you, one pretended not to notice my question so I assume he did not like it, one did not like outright , not as much food as restaurant itself. Anybody can make out of it whatever he wishes

I don't think it's any controversy here. All i wanted to point is that Russian's behavior in the baht bus described above while rude and uncalled for even if can't be justified , can be explained. Yes boy or girl may be 26 but if he/she looks 16 it's better to thread carefully in public in order to minimize unpleasant situation which may come not as much from local Thais as from other visitors. The same applies to the same sex visitors on any age if one is staying in low budget hotels far from usual gay jaunts like in soi Bukhao. A Christian pointed above , even low budged places may be actively discriminating.

I guess we need to wait and see what happens. Tough decision for the boys as often moving location results in loss of business. I wonder if zoning, if any exists, will permit go-go in soi 4 ? At least for me it will be some reason to go to that soi I'm not big fan of so far.

Sometimes considering age difference between two companions, rage may be somewhat well intentioned and justified so some discretion never hurts. We always should keep in mind that to Western eyes lots of Asians are looking much younger that they are.

You provided us with great tour of Bagan temples and I like your reflection on sightseeing barefoot although I'm not sure I'd rave so much about it. One thing is sure , after stepping on monkey's poo while climbing Mt.Popa barefoot I will remember Myanmar exploration without shoes till end of my days LOL
